We had 2 family members in this residence and had to move both due to sub-par care…read more The first resident was improperly cared for after a fall and forced to stand on what ultimately was a broken hip. Reports of the incident were then inaccurately reported to the home office. Multiple attempts to work with the home office resulted in no returned phone calls and no corrective action. The point of contact for the family was never notified and the resident had to call directly to reach the family. The second family member was in memory care and moved due to lack of hygiene care and the facilities inability to stop a male resident that continually entered her room and scared her even after multiple requests from the family to care staff. Facilty often had a bad smell unless it was just after cleaning day. Most of the staff were friendly but there have been lots of turnover and they were using contract staff not permanent employees for many roles.

Zoe, the owner, is incredibly responsive, very in tune with the residents, and communicative with us about anything potentially going on with my mom before I even get there to notice which has been just a huge relief to know someone is actually paying attention to the signs of a UTI or anything else that may be going on. She even takes those that are able out occasionally for salon days! The home is only 5 bedrooms with 2 staff during the day and 1 at night so the resident: staff ratio is better than anywhere I've found and certainly better than any assisted living you will find! For someone with dementia, less is more and by less I just mean - less people, less commotion, less vast spaces than assisted living, but much much better care all in a true home environment. With only 4 caretakers, my mom very quickly became familiar with and felt comfortable and safe around them vs constant rotations at assisted living. She is able to sleep in, bed rails can be provided as needed, security cameras with audible alarms to staff during the night, and just less space to worry about oversight or being out of sight to where someone like my mom is less likely to fall. The home had comfy recliners in bedrooms and living rooms so residents can lounge comfortably which is a luxury over assisted living! Lori, the other owner, is a registered nurse and has been really helpful in streamlining medication management and dietary needs for my mom. I'm sure I'm missing a million good things about Regency but it has truly been a very positive experience to see my mom so well rested, so happy, and putting on a little weight - she looks better than she has in a very long time and I know it's due to the level of care and oversight she receives from everyone at Regency. Shout out to the amazing staff - Shereka, Candy, Diki, And Tefanie! It's like a little family there. I highly recommend if you are considering alternative options for your loved one to check this out especially for dementia care vs a memory care unit at assisted living both due to the level of care and the level of comfort and quality of life for your loved one.

This facility is impeccably clean well maintained. Zoe and her staff were truly unbelievable in the loving care that they gave my wife until her final days. I know my wife loved this home since she expressed this numerous times. and her love for Terri and Donna. Although the entire staff is excellent, I need to especially recognize Terri and Donna who are now are a part of our extended family. During her time there, my family and I were always welcomed with open arms and we all felt like family. The environment is modern and upscale and for the most part a great place for an aging parent to be. The relationships cultivated with staff and other residents plus the daily activities was a great change for my father after my mother passed. But this is not why I am writing this review. My father spent the last several months in and out of the hospital coming back unfortunately under hospice services. His relationship with the administration and staff went immediately from resident to loved one. My father recognized he was home and the staff started around the clock services for 4 days straight during an ice storm providing continuous care to ensure his comfort during his final days with us. As his son, watching these ladies care for my father each day like he was their father proved to me that there was not another place I would have wanted him to be. The loving care received for my father in his final days is why I am writing this review on behalf of Manor Lake of Gainesville. Loving care when it counts is what you hope for when you and your parent are searching for an assisted living space. Day to day things happen no matter where you and your parent decide to go, that is the human experience, but when it truly matters, the staff at Manor Lakes proved their love for my father and that my friends is hard to find anywhere.

They charged her after she died for an extra month and instead of owning up to it and giving the money back quickly they put Mom's estate into the red gave every excuse they could - computer error was my favorite, 30 days to give it back because that was company protocol, to oops, we'll look into it. There was no way to contact their corporate offices -- no phone number, no email on their website. To get anything done I had to threaten charges for theft and then get Mom's bank involved. Even now they tell me that the process has begun but no word as to how long it will take.

Because she was very ill from catching the virus at your facility in Sugar Hill, Mom was so weak that she couldn't go to the bathroom herself, and had already fallen. So I was staying on a cot in her room. I needed to go out to check on my dog and get clean clothes and food. I asked Jenna if she could please have someone watch mom for half an hour. She agreed. I received a call after about 15 minutes that mom had fallen again. I rushed to Benton house to find mom with a huge blood filled bump on her head. She was dazed and possibly concussed. Jenna swore up and down that someone was checking on mom. Then she backpedaled, simpering about company policy that wouldn't allow an employee to watch mom even for a very short period of time. They can only help after mom fell, and she pressed the pendant. Of course, Jenna conveniently left out the fact that if you are knocked unconscious or the aides take an hour or more to respond because half were sick with covid ( since there is no vaccine requirement), I guess it is too bad for the resident. I found out later that Jenna lied about having someone keep an eye on Mom because it was a resident that called for help when she saw mom lying in the doorway to her room. No one was even told mom needed watching. So you can ditch the platitudes. Admit that the only important value of Benton House is the bottom line. Residents are insignificant. Management are soulless monsters that can't even be bothered getting vaccinated or draw up a working plan to stop the spread of a deadly virus. I chose Benton House believing that Mom would be safe at the times I couldn't be with her. I was so wrong. My wonderful Mother died today. I am seriously considering contacting the senior ombudsman or a lawyer so no other daughter will have to go through this nightmare caused by your people's failures. Sincerely, Susan Hilla

The building is very clean, attractive and well kept. She originally lived in a cute 1 bedroom apartment with her own furniture and art. A year ago, after suffering a stroke, she moved to the Memory Care where she lived until her death. The care providers are really what makes this place exceptional. I felt like everyone there really cared for my mom. Whenever I visited, the staff would catch me up in detail on how she'd been. Her personal care was always excellent even after she became non-verbal. The administration is always available and easy to work with. The nursing staff is top notch as well. I recommend Benton House of Sugar Hill without reservation.

In terms of someone who is genuinely there to help, I can attest that she is one of a handful of genuine people I've come across in the Senior Living Industry that does it fully for the Senior in mind. One thing I truly like about their service is their willingness to also come into a Community and enrich the lives of the residents there. They have a "Talk Down Memory Lane" program that truly engages the residents and gives them a chance to talk about something special in their lives. We hosted this at my past Community and I got to learn something new about EVERY resident, and see each resident showcase genuine joy in the item they wish to talk about. It's a modern day "Show & Tell". Another thing about local placement services is that they are hyper attuned to the area you're searching in and will give you the best 2-3 options for your loved one. There are a handful of senior placement services that I would recommend, and this is one of them!

I understand that everyone's medical needs are different, and people will respond to treatment…read moredifferently based on their own needs and experiences. The following is just a screenshot of my experience with this facility. Firstly, this facility was highly recommended and encouraged by Northside Hospital and their doctors during my mother's unfortunate visit before her discharge. It also had good reviews on Google and other outside sources so I was excited that my mother might be going to the best place for her well-being and to get the help she needed. Upon admission to Encompass, they were taking pictures of any injuries, I assume to cover their own liabilities but also took pictures of her genitals, which is illegal I've learned. She had a bad rash from being hospitalized for 2 weeks and having bouts of diarrhea during her stay at Northside Hospital prior. My mother was at Encompass only a week and this rash on her bum, that they took pictures of, was not treated by this facility during her stay. She was only given a shower by the staff once in that week. Other showers were requested but only got towels with no assistance. The nurses had a lackadaisical and dismissive attitude about the bed & chair alarm as well, often sounding off for more than 10 minutes at a time. The nurses didn't check on her often, I was there regularly for more than 5 hours or more and they didn't even poke their head in the door during my visits. The only time they had any interaction with her was at meal times, medicine times, or when the bed alarm was activated. On another visit, her scheduled therapy was listed until 12:30 and I arrived at 12:20 - she was in her room eating lunch at that time. When asked about it, they said they finished early. If she was capable of doing all they asked, they should fill the remaining time doing supplemental exercises or just walking. Physical therapy, of which this facility prides itself on, "5 hours a day" I was told at first, has not been adequate for my mothers' needs. (The 5 hours I was promised quickly became just 1.5 to 3 hours a day after her arrival.) Also, upon taking in a new patient, the doctors just mirror all the medications and oxygen needs that the hospital had administered prior, without their own evaluation of any kind and without viewing a time-chart of when the medicine was last given. I had instructed the hospital to stop giving her certain medications based on her previous list of allergies and reactions to the meds she was given. Upon entering this rehab facility, they just started them all over again without evaluating the need for them. (The list included anti-diarrhea, one for constipation, psychiatric meds, another for sleeping, 3 different antibiotics - antibiotics given for no reason) After confronting the doctor about this, she reluctantly agreed to stop just one of the psychiatric medications they were giving her to calm her down, only based on my complaint. The oxygen was also unnecessary, (she averaged 92) but she was forced to wear it resulting in a open sore in her nostril. I was told several times that the "respiratory therapist" would need to evaluate the need for the o2 but, to my knowledge, no evaluation was done and only physical therapy monitored the o2 level. I would also expect the case worker would've been in touch with me much sooner and would not have to be tracked down after being there 3 days. I called the main line and the lady who answered was snarky and rude, snapping at me saying, "I need your mother's name, you think". The man stationed at the front desk in the evening seemed to be conducting his own side business on the phone, and this front desk job was just a nuisance to him. I requested an early discharge due to many issues with this facility. Upon confirmation of an early discharge, I was told to be there at 10am. I arrived at 9:30am and My mother was still sleeping, breakfast cold. The nurse said they were unable to wake her for PT or breakfast that morning. "What did they give her last night to put her out like that?", I asked the nurse. That was not usual for my mother to be so groggy, especially at 9:30am. Was this a personal attack for seeking an early discharge? I later saw a schedule from her last day stating that she indeed had therapy when she was not present for it. I guess they just billed it to insurance anyway. I suspect there are others that have experienced similar events and have said nothing. Maybe society has become used to being governed by many questionable practices and has become too forgiving of others instead of correcting bad behavior. Maybe they just don't know they're bad. I just wish people knew and wanted to do the right thing.

Unable to get up, my husband called 911 and I was transported by ambulance to Kennestone hospital. Early the next morning, I underwent surgery to repair my hip. Pending release, I needed to select a rehabilitation facility. The hospital gave us a list of about 10 facilities in the Atlanta area, but the online reviews were largely negative. Fortunately, my family did some fast research, talked to friends about alternative facilities, and Encompass Health and Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming was the overwhelming recommendation. After several phone calls between my family and Encompass, my surgeon gave me a referral to the Cumming GA facility. A bed opened on New Year's Eve, and I was transported there late that night. The level of care I received was exceptional, and with the treatments from their phenomenal occupational and physical therapists, I was released in 7 days. The entire staff, including medical, therapeutic, and administrative, were excellent. Now at home and with the aid of a wheeled walker plus in-home PT twice a week, I'm continuing to improve. I strongly recommend Encompass Health for anyone requiring similar services due to injury or illness. Facility is clean & staff cleans rooms, bedding, etc., throughout the day. Therapists are excellent. Patient, polite &, I believe, highly qualified. Staff - nurses, therapists, etc., are friendly & helpful. Food is tasty & plentiful - quality food. Breakfast is light; however, lunch & dinner are full meals. A menu is available in the event you do not want the meal being served - sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken salad, etc. My only drawback was a waiting time when calling for assistance. I beg anyone who is considering this facility to dig through the reviews and find the ones that are not fake/from staff/from friends and see that my experience is more common than it appears to be at first look.
