In terms of someone who is genuinely there to help, I can attest that she is one of a handful of genuine people I've come across in the Senior Living Industry that does it fully for the Senior in mind. One thing I truly like about their service is their willingness to also come into a Community and enrich the lives of the residents there. They have a "Talk Down Memory Lane" program that truly engages the residents and gives them a chance to talk about something special in their lives. We hosted this at my past Community and I got to learn something new about EVERY resident, and see each resident showcase genuine joy in the item they wish to talk about. It's a modern day "Show & Tell". Another thing about local placement services is that they are hyper attuned to the area you're searching in and will give you the best 2-3 options for your loved one. My father was in Manor Lake Gainesville Assisted Living for 3 years. The day to day living at Manor…read morewas nice for him. The environment is modern and upscale and for the most part a great place for an aging parent to be. The relationships cultivated with staff and other residents plus the daily activities was a great change for my father after my mother passed. But this is not why I am writing this review. My father spent the last several months in and out of the hospital coming back unfortunately under hospice services. His relationship with the administration and staff went immediately from resident to loved one. My father recognized he was home and the staff started around the clock services for 4 days straight during an ice storm providing continuous care to ensure his comfort during his final days with us. As his son, watching these ladies care for my father each day like he was their father proved to me that there was not another place I would have wanted him to be. The loving care received for my father in his final days is why I am writing this review on behalf of Manor Lake of Gainesville. Loving care when it counts is what you hope for when you and your parent are searching for an assisted living space. Day to day things happen no matter where you and your parent decide to go, that is the human experience, but when it truly matters, the staff at Manor Lakes proved their love for my father and that my friends is hard to find anywhere.

They charged her after she died for an extra month and instead of owning up to it and giving the money back quickly they put Mom's estate into the red gave every excuse they could - computer error was my favorite, 30 days to give it back because that was company protocol, to oops, we'll look into it. There was no way to contact their corporate offices -- no phone number, no email on their website. To get anything done I had to threaten charges for theft and then get Mom's bank involved. Even now they tell me that the process has begun but no word as to how long it will take.

My parents have been here for some time. In 2012 in an apartment things were great. As already…read moreposted, by 2017 things were in decline. By 2020 it was turning into an "abandon ship." Now, it's "call the rescue squad - go to the hospital" if they have a bump or bruise. The "medical care" that was such a large portion of the entry fee does not exist at all. Indeed, the staff, if anyone is there at all, push residents into the "assisted living" before they need to go and then out the door into a tiny hospital room in their "skilled nursing" if they ask for assistance more than a couple of times a month. It's more like a medicaid nursing facility than a retirement community. Dee nailed it - expensive, controlling but also not really caring about anything but continued expansion and the money. This is not a good place.

Awful! I left this review on Google, too. I made the mistake of choosing them to help me with my…read morehusband. But when I really needed them, they weren't there. I know he was dying but he had a stroke that night. Everything changed and I wanted him checked by the nurse. I called and nobody came. Finally the supervisor came and told me they were short staffed and didn't have anybody who could come. She told me to call a neighbor! I called 911 and they took him to the hospital. I got a different hospice there called Northeast Georgia and they have been wonderful. Family let me down. Shame on them!
