It took about 10 months for us to coordinate everything but it was done in an expeditious manner for what the situation was and the desired outcome was absolutely achieved. Even years after our business was concluded, I found that I didn't have copies of all the final judgement documents. I reached out to Christy and within the same business day had everything delivered to my email via PDF. Dealing with the courts can be a scary process. If you don't have something that's particularly messy that would require a skilled and experienced litigator, it's actually pretty easy to go in and just speak for yourself. Still, having someone to navigate the paperwork and rules of the court, prepare your motions for you and schedule your court dates is incredibly necessary as I found that to be the most difficult part. The State doesn't make it easy to get into the court room and ALL of the prep work before hand is really all that matters. This is where Christy comes in and nails it because the court date where you proceed in front of a judge is very hurried and rushed. If you don't have everything done before hand, you're gonna have a bad time. Think of a Legal Technician as the paralegal, and you're the attorney who's doing the talking. Long story short, I was in jail waiting for trial (for something that had nothing to do with my marriage or divorce) and Christy couldn't have been more understanding, accepting and simply focused on the task at hand. I haven't got a clue what I would have done without her help during that time and it certainly took a lot off my plate during such a stressful experience. I'd absolutely use her again if I needed to. I needed a divorce attorney asap and was referred to HLG…read more There was a lack of time and energy put into my case. I expected them to tell me step-by-step what I needed to do and they never gave me all the info/details I needed. Ex. - Before my hearing, they told me which documents were required by the court but failed to tell me there was a page limit. Also, I thought the first hearing would determine the custody/divorce. I didn't know I would wait months for the hearing that would determine everything. Bob handed my case over to Andrew without letting me know. Less time/attention was put into my case after the first hearing. I only got phone calls/emails from them when the court required something. There were numerous times that I had to call/email them to ask them to answer my first call/email after days of no response. I was charged the minimum time allotment (I think 20 mins) for them to read an email which asked them to respond to my first email. When a g.a.l. was appointed, I was mailed some paperwork and Bob said I didn't need to fill any of it out. Then after getting an email from the g.a.l. asking for paperwork, I looked through the papers and realized that I did need to fill it out. This was embarrassing and made me look bad. Andrew went with me to mediation. Most of the mediation was me just sitting there and Andrew chiming in every now and then. I didn't get the help and guidance that I paid so much for. I also got very mixed signals in terms of feeling like he was on my side and trying to protect me from the stuff my ex-husband and his attorney were trying to get away with. He pointed things out a few times that they had tried to sneak into the parenting plan and he said this isn't ok and needs to be changed. Other times he seemed indifferent/like he didn't care and was super quiet. By the time my court hearing came up I wanted to find a different attorney but felt like I didn't have enough time to do so. Due to all of the above, I made a decision that I will regret for the rest of my life and made a deal with my ex because I felt I had no other choice. After all of the paperwork was finalized and I was mailed copies of everything, I was told by Andrew that I could go ahead and change my name at any time. I went to the DOL to update my license only to find out that my copy of the paperwork WASN'T CERTIFIED and that I would need to come back with a certified copy. I had to call and ask that they send me one without charging me for it... When my bf picked up my trial retainer refund, Dena was super rude and unprofessional towards him and laughed at him when he was surprised the refund was only $300. She joked about it with the other office staff saying we thought we were going to get it all back. My bf corrected her and said no we didn't expect to get it all back but we expected more than that since we didn't go to trial. The next year, my ex moved with our kids out of the boundary that's listed in our parenting plan. I had to take him to court, so I found a new attorney. My new attorney was a MILLION times more helpful. She said if Helland had asked me for documents for dr./dentist visits for my kids showing that I took them to their appts. that it is a HUGE factor in determining custody. NO ONE AT HELLAND TOLD ME THIS/EVER MENTIONED IT! She ALSO said attorneys who nickel-and-dime people don't like those clients and most attorneys who have ethics/morals don't do this. Knowing that I easily could have gotten full custody (especially after going to court and seeing other custody cases where the mother was awarded full custody despite not working or had things that I thought were "negative" going against her) and HLG failed me/took my money is incredibly depressing. Helland Law Group has negatively affected me and my kids' lives for the rest of their adolescent years. I will regret the choices I felt forced to make due to their failure to properly help me for the rest of my life.

RUN FOR THE HILLS & DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE!…read more I will absolutely NEVER use this company, specifically Caroline, again for my taxes. As a real estate investor who has a pretty standard W2 job - I wanted an expert to help us (my fiance and I) get the most depreciation from our real estate investments and we were willing to pay the high premium for their expertise. Well boy, were we wrong. At first everything was going according to plan...until it wasn't.... Caroline stopped responding to emails and phone calls until I had to call her assistant multiple times a week to ask for follow ups as we were approaching our tax extension deadline quickly. Finally got a hold of Caroline and she started filing our taxes using all of our documents we sent her from Quickbooks - we also had a brief (under 5 minute conversation about potentially doing a Cost Seg on our new investment property and while we were on the phone, we both agreed it wouldn't be financially beneficial for us to do that this year and we would revisit next year). Then this is where it turned south quickly. Caroline and her team got all of our documents together and since they charged $3,000+ to file our taxes - I thought we would be getting money back to offset it. Well on the phone when she and her team went through the filing, she had stated "great news, we are going to end up with a $14,000 tax return"..... turns out on email the very same day the tax return went from $14,000 to $4,000 so barely enough to cover our costs to hire Jeff Baker & Associates. This was Red flag #1. It was honestly extremely unprofessional to state and get us excited on one number and then put in an email a completely separate number that was much lower. Also, she denies ever saying that number but both of us heard the number loud and clear and had written the same number ($14,000) down in our notebooks - so it just didn't appear out of thing air as she claimed. Red Flag #2 popped up quickly after we had realized that we wouldn't be getting any money back, instead we would be in the negatives this year after paying Caroline & her team. Caroline sends her invoice and what pops up.... an $1,250 additional charge for a Cost Segregation....which again we decided not to do and she mentioned she charged us that amount because we had that conversation with her and she provided expert advise. She then asked if I would consider a $350 discount on the $1,250 fee she was trying to charge us - absolutely laughable. Needless to say after the experience I had with her team by this point....we did not pay the additional $1,250 fee and only paid for the work she did for us. Unfortunately, Caroline and Jeff Baker & Associates was a referral and I didn't do as much due diligence as I should have. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE. I would use anyone over Caroline & her team. It was an unsatisfactory experience at best and one that hurt us financially as well. We will never make that same mistake again and would never recommend this company to anyone.

Hard to believe. the manager even tried to say that it was the agents fault that we didn't get notified. But if there was a notification why was your closer not saying that from the moment I started asking questions? instead of 1/2 a day later in a response from the manager?? Seems like a cover story. I was promised a partial refund of my escrow fee that I had to remind them to do when I was told you'll have to trust that I will take of it. Oh ya?? Because you have instilled so much trust so far. And now a full month later my homeowners insurance still hasn't been paid. Not an experience I would recommend for anyone buying or selling a house.
