The crowd kept to themselves, probably because this hostel is so big, the common area does not facilitate interaction (which is a flip side of a large, spacious common area). It welcomes guests of all ages, unlike some which (try to) enforce (relative) youth in guests. A good breakfast with a good spread is included in the price (there're even some local products), and it starts at 6am! Lunch & dinner are also available at reasonable prices (for Switzerland). The room was quite roomy. The power socket was really near bed - just above it, though it was recessed as is common in Switzerland so not all power adaptors will be able to use it. A man from Eastern Europe kept proposing to me in the mess hall during breakfast, it was hilarious. The first two nights I stayed in my room, there was only one other female, who was a writer. On the third and consecutive nights there were some fellow backpackers making their way through Europe. The beds were comfortable, there was enough storage and it was clean and secure. Rahmek said the male accommodations were nice as well. Restrooms were also clean. If I remember correctly, breakfast was included in the price of the stay. The on-site shop had some nice souvenirs like swiss army knives, towels, shot glasses, etc.

As a result, they gave us a stinking room and we found burned cigarettes in the trash can. The first room was really disgusting, the carpet in particular gave the impression someone had bleeded to death a couple of nights ago. We complained and they gave us the choice between 3 others rooms. Two of them where dirty and stinky rooms. We settled for the one with the less smell, but which a huge vomit stain in the corner. Zurich is an expensive city and it is difficult to find a cheap hotel room. But even if you're not waiting for luxery for the cheapest price, you're not settling for a meth-head transit hotel. If you're in Zurich, maybe spent an extra 20 for your room and avoid at any costs the Krone hotel.

When we walked in, I thought we were at a youth hostel or something. There were tons of young people playing ping pong! Totally reminded me of my college days back in Los Angeles, when students played ping pong in the rec room. Turns out there was some ping pong tournament, so I guess this wasn't what the bar typically looked like. But it still made for a fun and interesting atmosphere. The decor is kind of retro, but with a modern flair. The furniture seemed to be a bit mismatched at first, with different pieces and colors strewn about, but upon closer inspection, you could tell that some interior decorator had carefully chosen everything to match exactly. Every single color in the multicolored rug was exactly replicated in the sofa pillows, chairs, tables, etc. I ordered something new that I'd never seen before--Hofgarten Sauer rhabarberschorle (rhubarb spritzer)--which was a refreshing change to my usual Apfelshorle. A bit sweet and tangy, it was a refreshing fizzy drink to quench my thirst after dinner. The NENI menu card stated free Wi-Fi, but I found the signal too weak to do anything. The restroom upstairs had tons of mirrors for one of those really cool effects where you see the reflection go on for infinity. The DJ played good tunes all night, which made for a very nice atmosphere to chill out with some friends for a drink and conversation. My only remark would be that the crowd seemed rather young on a Friday night, but that could have been due to the ping pong tournament.

It was raining, I was tired, cold and wet. I walked into the reception area to find there was limited space to sit. I then went into the office to see if I could leave my bag. The two men were talking and I waited politely, expecting that they would greet me and offer to do their job. Nope. They continued their conversation as if I wasn't even there. Not even a pause to tell me to hold on. Nothing. I walked out, grabbed my bag, went back down the 3 flight of stairs, hailed a cab and went to a Marriott.

The showers and bathrooms were communal which $200 CHF per night to not have your own toilet is wild. The shower did not get hot and the water splashed all over the floor due to the design and I almost fell multiple times when getting out due to the slipperiness. It took them 20 min to prepare us a bed at 1100 pm, which you would think the rooms would already be cleaned and ready that late. Bed was okay, it was a bed at an airport. Not incredibly comfortable but better than the floor. I would expect for $200 for it to be SLIGHTLY better. Toilets had poo in them every time I went to use them, and it was every single stall. Overall wouldn't stay here again. It Was also sweltering hot in the room and uncomfortable.

I recently spent a seven hour layover in Zurich transiting from the States to Turkey, and while I had some trouble with my flights (no fault of the venue) that ate into my recuperation time at the Transit Hotel, I spent a wonderful four hours showering and sleeping in a real bed. Heidi, the staff member who took care of me upon arrival and check-out, was so nice, and her English was easy to understand. The price was reasonable, and while I stayed in a private room, there are couch options at a notable lower price. The space was clean and simply appointed. There was a television and sink in the room, but I didn't do anything but sleep, and I can attest--the bed was comfortable and the temperature of the room was comfortable. I'll definitely be staying here again. If only I can convince them to implement a loyalty program...

But the receptionist was very polite and made the switch for me right away and gave me a wonderful room with a view of the courtyard below, it felt like an upgrade! Yes in general the rooms and bathroom are smaller but that's just how it is in Europe and I actually felt the room was plenty spacious! Later on I went down to the wine cellar which was soo incredibly cozy and relaxing. The wine was delicious and the meat and cheese platter YUM. In comparison to other hotels in the area I feel I paid less than the others. Also the location is super convenient! I do recommend staying here.

Our first impression to the hotel service was regular.. Added with more time for waiting since we came to early (12pm) for check in. So we chose to find restaurant nearby for lunch, by walk. Fortunately there was Nestor resto n we had a pleasant lunch.. As soon we returned to hotel (1.30 pm) n entered our rooms, we happened to feel that the stay will be very enjoyable. We had two connecting-rooms where the other room was larger with its spacious bathroom.. Free wifi complimentary, complimentary chocolates n delicious chocolate-powder drink, also gift of 'this works:sleep' in each room, clean bathroom n nice bath tub n warm/hot water, English-channel tvs, really helped us relaxed n refreshed in our home-away-from-home. Although I couldn't compare with other hotel in zurich, during my europe-trip with my family, it was our most enjoyed staying, added with impression of visiting Switzerland was our best experience. Our stay was cut short due to a flight delay but my husband and I had a good experience for one…read morenight. Victoria at the front desk was accommodating and made the check in process smooth despite the changes in our stay. The room was small but comfortable. I appreciated that they included a free still water bottle at the bedside. They provided toiletries including liquid hand soap and lotion. Iron and coffee machine were also readily available. It was a little farther away from city center but thankfully, Ubers were available around. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy amenities such as breakfast, gym, and spa. Overall, it was a good stay and I'd consider staying here again if I'm ever back in the city!
