This is my second year going to these guys for my taxes. I ended submitting most of my paperwork online this year, something I didn't do last time. It costs more than turbotax, but they definitely figure out how to make the difference up (and then some). Oh yeah, and I didn't spend an entire weekend navigating myself through intricate tax laws. I like their new location much more than their old place. Everything was much nicer, except for the parking lot. It's much smaller than the previous location...but then again, I was there on the Friday before taxes were due, and I was easily able to find a spot. Lake Rifkin CPA is great! They are a local, family owned and ran accounting firm. We've been using them for the past four years and have been very happy with their services. We have very complex taxes due to different states, rental properties, businesses, etc. We have had Andrew, Chris and Scott prepare our annual taxes and they are all excellent! Unprofessional, didn't "want to" enter in all amounts for my taxes. Quoted 2 different prices than called a liar. Do not go here. To avoid a "retaliation" remark from the owner as I see he left another person who left a review. I will clarify. I dealt with Scott initially and explained I need 2 years done. "Before starting the process what is the total?" Scott replies "$350". Upon my second return to the office I dealt with Jason who at first was polite but seemed laissez-fair, I explained I was told to return with receipts so Jason said "I don't want to enter all that." After processing my return I called back some days later and asked to confirm my tax amount...I had a different number in my head that I was receiving so I wanted to make sure. Again Jason picks up and asks what I'm trying to pull. I told him. I just want to verify. Cease the accusations now. "the only suspicious activity is why I keep asking for Scott and end up with you who offered me a higher price. He replied that's not true( aka you are lying). I demanded Scott at this point who got on the line and apologized for the confusion and in addition explained he made a mistake( he did not add in the cost for amending). It's $350 for one year and $300 for amendments. I said no problem, thank you for clarifying if it's just a mistake, no big deal. But tell your coworker his professionalism needs work. Jason did try to explain $350 for tax service and $300 for amendments but he failed to clarify why I was told two different amounts( one low by Scott) and one higher by him- add in not being able to speak to your initial representative, than it causes questions to be raised. Unfortunately Jason's lack of customer service allowed him to speak in a capacity not fitting for service. I left a review on their actual website but it's yet to have posted. Either way, the entire event could easily have been avoided if he just said let me check that out, or something along those lines. read more

Unfortunately, a very poor experience with this firm. Taxes they filed for us were done incorrectly, and upon letting them know they said they would take care of it. We were pleased to hear that, and went went back in with all our paperwork again, and they refiled for us. About another month later, we received a $500 bill. We called and politely told them there must be a billing error, as there had been no mention, question or indication we would be charged again, nor was there a new services contract or even a quote. We had been there to fix the mistake they had made in the filing. They threatened to take us to court, and said they had no legal responsibility to stand behind their work. A refiling needs a refiling fee, they said, regardless of the error they made. read more
