While they were quick to demand signatures and documents, they became unresponsive and evasive when it came time to release funds they were holding--money I was clearly owed. Annette, who handled most of the communication, frequently appeared confused and unsure of basic escrow procedures. Even worse, Mary--the owner--never once responded to my repeated inquiries about a significant estoppel holdback. This lack of accountability and professionalism is unacceptable, especially in a business handling financial transactions. If you're looking for a transparent, competent escrow company, look elsewhere. I wouldn't trust Harbor Lights Escrow with a dime.

I would usually just rent it out on my own to friends of friends, or family. In fact, I wasn't even aware that real estate agents offered this service. I was under the impression that I would have to call a property management company to take care of renting it out, and my past experience with property management companies has not been good. Last summer, I mentioned having a rental property on one of my check ins, and I was contacted by 2 of my sweet Yelp friends who offered to help! It was thanks to them that I discovered that a real estate company could handle the rental for me. As nice as their offers to help were, and after careful consideration, I decided that maybe it wasn't a good idea to mix business with Yelp friendship. Friends and family also knew that i was going to need a real estate agent and I was inundated with names and numbers of agents. However, San Pedro is a unique town and I really wanted a local person that knows and understands this. I'm also big on vibes and I wasn't getting a good gut feeling on anyone. For some reason, Shawn's name popped into my head, so I contacted her. I knew right then that she was the right person!
