Penzance railway station is the end of the line - and a very long line at that. If you're coming in from Bristol or even London, this is your final Terminus. Which is weird because there's plenty of land west of here that isn't really covered. My visits to Penzance (2 by rail, 1 by road) have been mystical and memorable. It's beautiful down here and it feels like the end of the world. Penzance is very much worth a visit. A port town and an old Cornish town. It's a lovely little town and it has a nice and definitely adequate railway station. I'll probably keep coming here in future as well, and will bring people here with me in future. It has a beautiful large red roof and looks like a much bigger station than you'd expect in a smaller town like Penzance. It is the southernmost station in the UK. The longest direct train in the UK is Aberdeen to Penzance which can take over 14 hours and takes more than 12 at the best of times. See, the UK is a little bigger than you thought? And you know what else is bigger than you thought? Yeah.

It's probably easier being an end of the line station (as this station has been for over 150 years…read morenow!). There is only one direction in and one direction out. This makes for quite a simple station, which I bet is appreciated by travelers. Certainly beats the chaos of a city station. Great location, as you pull into Penzance, alongside the sea, with St Michael's mount in the distance. Its's certainly a prime location with the sea one side and the main shopping street on the other. Plenty of parking around too. If you want to keep your eye open for a train, a nearby hotel has a webcam that points out onto the station platforms.

It is attended from April to November giving you a nice feeling of security, unlike the 'park in a field' option on the right on the way into the village. Prices are reasonable, with discount tickets for weekly parking if you are renting a cottage in the village. The service was excellent, they have larger spaces for motorhomes (you pay a little more for them), and very helpful, knowledgeable staff (thanks Matthew!). A pleasant surprise in this day and age!

On Monday 20th Sept 2010 I arrived at this car park and to say the least was verbally abused by a…read moremember of the gate staff, I am ambulant disabled and as I approached the gate noticed that like most other parking in Cornwall Blue Badge holders have to pay for parking unless car is tax exempt. I have no problem or issue with having to pay as I was in a rental car not my own mobility,on asking the gate staff do you have any disabled parking at which I was no told no in a short sharp maner.I then asked sorry I mean specific parking bays and the answer came back no we don't and if we gave a space to everyone who was disabled we wouldn't have any spaces for normal people. I like many others did not choose to be disabled but to get abuse from a able bodied pensioner who doing at best a poor job in public relations, really upsets me.I for 1 will nevr use this parking area again and would warn other disabled about the attitude of some of the staff.

On one side of…read morethe road there is the childrens part which has climbing frames and slides, while on the other side there is a football pitch and small skate park. Both parts are maintained by the County Council and there are also toilets on the childrens side. However these toilets are not great. There are fences stopping children from running onto the road on the children's side. In the day there are usually quite a few children and parents in Hendra park but it is rarely very busy. In the summer the County Council sometimes put on entertainment such as 'Punch and Judy' shows so keep your eyes peeled for these.

It is a multi-story car park which takes has five or six levels. The last time I visited, a system which required you to take a ticket as you enter, and put it in the machine as you exited to pay, was in place. At night the car park can be quite lonely so I would not recommend it on late evenings. Overall this car park does exactly what it says it does and is close to the shops in Truro.

Very unaccommodating especially when using a wheelchair. I was lucky that noone was parked next to me. Just another way of making more money. Interesting shops and a few pubs which we did visit on our two trips. Very friendly people in this village taking into account the constant influx of Covid carrying tourists. However, I now come to the down side. We arrived in the car park. The car park only takes one pound coins. In this day and age most places prefer cashless transactions. The machine only take, I repeat, coins. OK, there are change machines but they are only useful if you have a few notes on you. Whoever runs the car park, 'GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER'. Also the toilets only take 50p. coins. As a visitor that seem extortionate. In fact 'taking the pee'. The visits, once I had suffered the shock of the car park, were enjoyable.
