Attended over last weekend to the Landmark Forum because I was pushed by my brother to attend. At first I was a bit fussy about the whole situation and was in denial of needing some life coaching but at the end of the forum I was glad I did. I have been a graduate of Landmark's programs since 2012. Landmark has helped me get out of the way whatever is in the way of me and having the life I've always wanted, which I can happily say that I do. How they do that is that they offer courses centered around professional and personal development. It's a lot introspection and discovery through guided conversations. As humans we have a lot baggage we carry around that tends to interfere with us making the calls that we really want to make for ourselves. I don't recommend this program to anyone who isn't willing to do that kind of work. If you have a hard time genuinely apologizing to other people you more than likely are also not the kind of person that would get what there is to get out of these programs. It can be difficult to own up to the fact that a lot of times what gets in the way of you and getting the things you've always wanted to be is....you! (How you can finally get that out of the way, you learn that in the programs ;) ) If you ARE the kind of person that's interested in growing, expanding, making your already great life even BETTER and BIGGER, if you're the kind of person that wants to influence people, be a higher level leader, have more of an impact in your community, and want to do the work it takes to get there, then this is the place to go. The staff are caring and great, and always make you feel like you're the coolest person in the universe when they greet you. Landmark training and coaching has enabled me to connect more fully and deeply with what matters most to me. I have overcome significant relationship and career issues in Landmark programs. I have created and fulfilled bigger goals than I ever imagined through my participation in Landmark. I lost 50 pounds and kept it off, got fit in middle age, ran 5 marathons, took multi-day bicycle tours, found satisfaction in relationships and at work, started a business. I have experienced profound depth of relationship and an ability to express myself that would not have happened without Landmark training. I have amazing, wonderful, deeply supportive friends who I could not have met elsewhere in such quantity and frequency. I have been a customer of this company for over 20 years. I keep coming back because I have not found another service that is remotely comparable. Landmark is the only company that I know of that promises to empower people in what matters to them in their own life that actually delivers. In the history of my own participation with Landmark, I have: 1) maintained a healthy marriage of 20 years (one that started out as a dramatic mess); 2) supported my 13-yr-old son, who has Aspergers, in making real friends and having a successful social experience in middle school; 3) supported my 11-yr-old son in developing his self-expression and voice; 3) became a leader in my family, community and region; 4) redesigned my life to be a reflection of my purpose. Landmark is the real thing. If you want to be empowered in the things that matter to you in life, I can think of no better place to go. Of all the reviews I have made, this one is the most important to me. If there were ten stars, I would give ten. I read all the online reviews of the Landmark Forum I could get a hold of before attending recently and many of them seemed extreme, so I thought I would add my 2 cents. LF is a 3 day course which presents some basic philosophy/psychology (Johari window, Heidegger/existentialism, zen) in a way that makes it more easily digested and actionable (despite the peculiar jargon they choose to deliver it in). All of it adds up to helping participants let go of past issues and feel renewed control over their lives. This stuff should be taught in every high school in my humble opinion. I was familiar with a lot of the ideas we discussed going into the forum, but hearing them applied to participants' lives and completing the homework exercises really made it hit home in a new way. There is something amazing that happens as everyone starts trusting and talking from the heart with each other. The event was extremely well-organized and our facilitator (Kristen) was fantastic. I got a lot out of it and signed up for the Advanced Course, which deals more with group interaction. So why only 3 stars? Each day ran 9am to 10pm, which is longer than I think is really necessary. Some of the material could be delivered in a more concise manner, and some of it could have been cut. (You could say the same for this review, but I'm too tired to edit). For example, 30-60 minutes each day was devoted to describing other programs/offerings. It was not the hard sell I'd heard about but it would have been classier to take *one* hour out of the weekend to do a Q&A/signup session on the company's other programs. The emphasis on bringing friends/family to the final session (largely in order to sign them up for future classes) was a bit much for me as well. I didn't attend that session at all and don't feel I missed out on anything. I also really didn't like the fact that two hours in we were told anyone who wanted to leave and get a refund could do so - as long as we got up right then and walked out in front of everyone. Not cool. To address some of the internet rumors I read before attending: -There was nothing cult-like going on, despite the company's questionable past. The material covered just presented ideas on how to frame situations in life to avoid getting tripped up by past experiences. I can see how some people might get overzealous or overuse "Landmarkese" jargon, but there is no evil machine at work. -No one was verbally abused. The conversations get intense, and sometimes uncomfortable, but nothing was said that was inappropriate. -No one told us not to leave the room. I exited sessions several times a day to use the restroom, eat a snack, check messages, or stretch my legs. -We were asked not to bring food into the room but covered beverages were fine. Water was provided, but if you wanted anything else you were on your own to find it. -They do ask us not to take notes during the sessions, purportedly so we could pay full attention to what's happening. We were invited to write whatever we wanted down during the breaks or after class though. -They do check to see who drops out each day. Name tags are collected before dinner and at the end of the day. I don't know if people who quit were contacted or what. Like I said, I didn't attend the final session and no one harassed me about it at all. -It does seem like those with major issues are asked to leave or referred elsewhere. We had one disruptive and potentially disturbed individual on the first day who did not come back. I would say there is a sweet spot of effectiveness with this program. For someone with psychological issues I'd think it would be harmful. For someone who is really well-adjusted and well versed in philosophy, it probably won't tell you anything you don't already know. If you do go, bring a pillow or cushion to sit on, a jacket (A/C was blasting), snacks and beverages. My advice would be to use the stuff that works for you and not worry too much about the rest. ***Edit: I did the second course, and as promised it did deal with group interaction, but I'd break the content down like this: 1/3 repackaged ideas from the 1st course, 1/3 interesting stuff, 1/3 promoting their other courses and programs - including pressuring people to sell their friends and family on the courses. The facilitator was highly skilled and some of the exercises were helpful. I have been doing Landmark programs since 2004, and they have helped me change my entire life. I found it while looking for a communication course and got that plus more. I now have money working for me and will be able to retire comfortably and confidently before turning 50. I found my husband through this work, and our relationship is amazing! We understand each other and have the tools to have our disagreements get resolved in minutes instead of days. If you are looking for that something that will make your life just take off where you put your focus on it, this education is for you. read more

Good value for the cost. Definitely recognized some of my behaviors that were holding me back from living a fulfilled and happy life. Learned how to avoid emotionally charged conversations and resolve issues quickly, easily, and then move on without damage to the relationship with the other person. Began to focus on living fully in the present and how to find eliminate the regrets and second guesses about how my life could have been had I done something different. I have been around Landmark and related programs since around 1980. Landmark teaches a set of skills and actions that have allowed me to lead an amazing life. Like many, I've faced many challenges in my life. What has made the difference for me is that I am able to focus on creating amazing possibilities for myself and those around me, and then take action in the present to accomplish them. What that means is that I am able to handle challenges in my life powerfully. When I have a family upset, it doesn't consume me for weeks, my physical health doesn't suffer. I deal with it. And I get mad just like everyone else - I just don't have to suffer. My career has been tremendously rewarding to me. I love what I have done with my life, and I get along with the people I work with. I am now in my second year of owning my own business, and that would never have happened without the skills I have learned through Landmark. In summer and fall of 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area hard. My family and I escaped significant damage, but many others were not so fortunate, and we wanted to help. We worked helping a number of people who were directly impacted in their houses, and we contributed time, sweat, and money to several relief operations. In November, I hosted a fundraising event to continue to help people still in need, and also to help keep alive the feeling of kinship and togetherness that was so prevalent in the days and weeks immediately after the hurricane. I would NEVER have done this without the education and coaching I receive through Landmark programs. Even with this education being a part of my life for decades, I might very well have watched as other people created events promoting togetherness and raising money for those in need. Instead, I got to be the creator of that. How cool! I could go on, but I'll stop here and say that my life is very rewarding, and I'm a happy person, a person who gets things done. And my outlook on life and my ability to get things done, and to influence others to do the same, comes directly out of the work I've done with Landmark. read more

Someone asked me to take a course.Later, I found that Landmark encouraged people to ask their friends to visit Landmark centers.I paid around $500.I had to sacrifice weekend.But some told me " Landmark will change your life". I decided to pay $500. I saw many people.People are very diverse.Our instructors were so energetic. Some of them were very emotional. Basically, this was a great place to improve ourselves.I met a lot of nice people. This was very supportive environment.If you have some worries, agonies and sadness in your life, Landmark might give you some solutions.I was under the impression that Landmark would make you more positive, aggressive, compassionate and nicer. But it was expensive.$500. It was too much.I had to stay there over 20 hours in the three days. I had to give up attending a lot of events.I may learn good things at my church, speech clubs and other free seminars. Again, $500 and 20 hours are too much.And Landmark asked people to call friends in order to participate the classes.I am sorry. I didn't like it.I mean, I was not so passionate that I asked people to join Landmark. Overall, I liked it. But due to costs and time, I gave up going to another seminar. I can recommend Landmark. Preface-I took this class at this location, not sure why it was posted to the Timbergrove location, as I never visited that one. This review on Landmark was probably one of the hardest I have had to write. The experience is different for everyone, myself included. I had had a couple of friend in Chicago, Houston, and LA do it, and came back with mixed results. I wanted to try something different, and was looking for some self fulfillment. Not one to ever go off anyone else's personal journey, I decided to sign myself up for the course (3 FULL days from 9-9) and judge for myself. (oh and for the price tag of around $500) and the further you get in the classes, the more they want you to go through further work shops, for surprise, MORE MONEY! From what I understood, I had read gobs and gobs of reviews, from people calling it a "cult" (I didn't think it was) to having a taste of Scientology of it. Mind Tricks, Hippies, the whole nine. I wanted to check it out to learn how to communicate better, having received a promotion recently, and thought it may help out in some personal relationships as well. The crowd was a mixed bag if I ever saw one, with all ages, educational backgrounds, races, and background. There were a group of lulus (lululemon apparently has their management and other people who work there go through this course) and I met people who had stories that absolutely broke my heart. The basis is you tell your story in FRONT of everyone. There is A LOT of sharing. (if you are not one of those people, this class is not for you) It's like a big AA meeting. Typical story is I am going through a divorce, I need to get my voice, or I was raped when I was young, or I am an alcoholic/drug/sex addict. Or I don't trust men, women, or whatever. It's very uncomfortable, and very emotional. They want you to have what is called a Landmark Break though, which I never had, and found myself looking for holes in my life in which I could pick apart. I searched and searched and never came up with it. I listened and listened and nada. The one big thing I did not like (besides being locked in a room for 9 hours) (okay you get a lunch and dinner break) was that they want you to reach out to others (family, friends, co workers) and tell them about Landmark. It's basic marketing, and sales) They are without a doubt selling a product. I made it 2.5 days. Without going into to too much detail, I found out one main thing about myself.....the "big" problems I have in my life, aren't really big compared to others. I can deal with these things on my own, and with the support of others. It reminded me that all in all, I have it pretty darn good. read more

I highly recommend it to anyone who is committed to living an extraordinary life or just want to enhance whatever they've got going.... it is a miraculous accident that I choose to take the weekend course.... It really was life changing and a game changer for me and my life. If I could give zero stars I would. The most destructive, ridiculous and manipulative training I have ever encountered. I went to the first day and was astonished in the first two hours about the insanity of this program and the inappropriate way the moderator was conducting himself. He actually had this grieving mother crying and blaming herself for the death of her daughter who died in a car crash. From the uncomfortable chairs, to the intimidating eye contact, to 10 hour days with little breaks, to the odd language used, to the philosophy that if you don't agree you are being closed minded. It is not leadership oriented. It's Scientology lite. Buyer beware. Don't waste your money or your time. For me, I am a strong minded, intelligent and confident person, but if you are in pain or less sure of yourself don't be duped by this organization. They will cause more damage. It's as destructive and dangerous as Scientology but on a smaller scale. Watch Leah Remini to understand this horrible Scientology cult's abuse of its followers and ask yourself why would you want to be a part of an organization that has so many similarities. 9/25/17 update. Based on the response from Landmark below I was hopeful that they were being honest, so I emailed customerservice@landmarkworldwide.com because it is restricted. I tried to get a refund two years ago and was refused. This looks like more smoke and mirrors from an already questionable organization. I was a skeptic. I read the reviews and had an opinion before doing the 3 day+1 evening course. I urge you to not do that...but hey, you keep reading this. It is very hard to explain the course without you going to a intro class one evening. It does different things to different people, but it makes a positive change in your life. It was worth the money...and if it was cheaper you would have REALLY weird people sitting next to you, so the cost weeds out that element. Plus it keeps you there, because most don't get it the first two days, like me. If I had left, I would be giving it a 1 star, and complaining about it. Instead I can honestly write this class is making a profound change in my relationship with my wife (almost divorced her), my children, and my work. The Houston Address has changed to 4635 SW Fwy, near 59 and 610, inside the loop. Beware- once you take this course you will have this way about you that people have never seen. Little things will happen to you in a positive way. ITS WILD- I made some sales to some people in my life without selling. They just were drawn in by how I was, and ask what I did. The Landmark Forum is the one thing I have done that has made the biggest difference in my life. I am a pharmacist and have attended many classes and seminars designed to make a difference in my life and my profession and none of them compare to the Landmark Forum. Before Landmark, I was scared that I would mess up as a pharmacist and I wanted to go back to school to do something else. I felt trapped and stuck in my life and was so overwhelmed by student loan debt that all I thought about was how long it would take me to pay that back. I also thought I couldn't tell anyone that because my life "looked" really good and who would even listen to me talk about being trapped in as a pharmacist. In the Landmark Forum, I saw that none of that was the truth and I actually got free to start living my life. I was still a pharmacist and I still had student loan debt, but I had freedom from the anxiety and constraints I had put on myself in those areas. read more
