There were several reasons we hired St. Hilaire, but the two main reasons were 1) Communication - throughout the quote, and rest of the project, there was open communication. Joe was always willing to listen to our ideas, offer perspective and explain the process. 2) Enthusiasm - several contractors we spoke with seemed like they would come, put down some rocks and send us a bill. Joe on the other hand is very enthusiastic about the work - showing us pictures of previous projects and promising us that we'd love the final results (and we do). Once we had agreed to work with Joe the process was very easy and the work completed within the time frame that was given during the quote. As the projects moved forward there were several instances where Joe would have ideas on how it could be done better, or things he had to troubleshoot like the slope of the lawn. He would take time to discuss the various options with us, let us decide but also make sure that what we wanted would look good and be structurally sound. There were several instances of them going the extra mile to make sure the projects came out how we envisioned them and were of high quality. This included things like bringing in extra loam to level out a section of our yard so it tied in together with the patio and sorting through stone veneer to match the color we wanted when the color we ordered had been discontinued. Overall working with Joe was a great experience - all three projects came out exceeding our expectations and a month after the project completed we're still very happy with everything (and we probably have the nicest front steps in the neighborhood). He and Chris truly do take pride in their work which leads to high quality results. I would gladly work with St. Hilaire Masonry again and would highly recommend hiring them for your next project.
