My family was able to go to Dr. Hamilton for years. He was so great and so was all of his staff. They worked with my daughter who is on the spectrum when it was no easy task. I have the Dental Cal and found out on Saturday that I now make enough that I no longer qualify for Dental Cal and will have to buy a private plan. I was so bummed to find out that he takes PPO plans that I can't afford. I must say, as someone who had Dental Cal, I never felt that myself or anyone in family was ever treated any different than the rest of his patients. He and his staff were always wonderful to us and we always received top notch care. When I asked about him taking the Dental Cal and just PPO's they said he liked to help the community. Responding to The office director: I didn't expect anything to be paid by the state that they don't cover. I do expect however for the dentist to acknowledge there are problems so I can fix them before they result in a much larger issue. (which they did.) I never said the bone graft and implant was covered by the state. If your weren't so rude to people with that insurance I would have had your office do the work..... Instead there is another Costa Mesa dentist that is in the process of this very lengthy procedure. (If anyone wants her info please message me) The wait wasn't because of the state not authorizing it. The wait was because your office didn't send in the request. I called to remind them....... Then when the request was authorized your office didn't call me. I know this because I called the insurance,When the temporary fell off, I paged...... NO response. NOW I am receiving bills for my almost 30 year old daughter. You added my as a guarantor without my authorization and not at the request of my daughter. I have never even been in the office at the same time. (BTW..... You still haven't even sent HER a bill...) I called to inquire as to how this would happen....... You said "shes your daughter... right? you also said... "youre both patients here?..." neither of those questions have ANYTHING to do with the fact that you added me as a guarantor without consent. ALSO that is violating her right to privacy. And perhaps you SHOULD stop taking state insurance if you can't treat the recipients with dignity and respect. You are right One bad apple spoils the bunch. But it is YOU that is the bad apple. And one last note: Did I have a tone with you on a couple of occasions? you bet..... Because you are rude and condescending, not to mention not very good at your job....... And I believe I still have a balance from the deposit you make State insurance recipients pay.... I havent been to you 25 times. You can send it to the address yo keep sending my daughters bills to. Now..... Go take me off my daughters bill! read more

This makes me so sad to write this because I initially loved this dentist and his staff. But after the incredibly painful and time consuming experience I had here I felt that I should share my story so others are aware. The dentist and his secretaries are incredibly friendly. That is the main problem I have with only giving them one star. With that being said I had several fillings done here. Almost all of them were done without any issues. Except for one filling. I ended up having terrible jaw pain almost 2 months after one of them was filled and went back in to see the doctor. He informed me that everything looked normal. So I left feeling as though the pain must just be temporary. Within two weeks of that visit I ended up in urgent care due to the pain in my jaw and swelling of my face. I left urgent care and drove to my dentist hoping he would be more helpful in identifying the problem. He took X-rays and told me everything looked normal again and wrote me a referral to see an Endodontist. He also prescribed me antibiotics. Because I was unable to see an endocrinologist I went to another dentist for a second opinion. She looked at my X-rays and told me I needed a root canal as soon as possible. Dr. Hamilton had performed a filling on a tooth that was too close to the nerve without informing me that is could cause trauma to the tooth root. My tooth root became infected which lead to a very large abscess along my gums and my nerve dying . I had the root canal and the large abscess drained two days after visiting dr Hamilton for the last time. The dentist who did my root canal agreed that the issues were because of the trauma the tooth experienced during my routine fi visit. As you can believe I was highly upset when I found that out. I also really did not like the fact that Dr. Hamilton acted is if he could not see the infection on the X-rays. Both dentists I saw after him (within the same day) saw the infection in the X-ray. When I called to inform them of the news I found out his secretary continued to say that the took no responsibility for what happened. I understand that these things happen, but after seeing him twice for the pain and being sent away with no answers that's when I became upset. They made me feel as though I was searching for pain medication and everything was all in my head. We are supposed to be able to trust our doctors to care for us to the best of their ability. Sadly I will never go back here because I no longer trust Dr. Hamilton or his staff. Beware of places that seem too good to be true. And make sure to ask more questions and have everything throughly explained to you before committing to any dental work here. read more

If I Could Give HIm Ten Stars out of Five I Would Dr. Hamilton is the BEST Dentist I've ever had. And since I smoked all my life I've had a lot of dentists, even though I took care of my teeth, I always had to have dental work. Once I stopped, the cavities stopped! The doctor makes me laugh, NEVER ever causes me an ounce of pain, always makes me feel like I'm having fun instead of being at the dentists' office, and TRUST ME, I've had to go to some dentists that I was afraid to sit down in their chairs, due to my income status. He takes Denti-Cal which makes him a Saint by default, but he proves it every time from the moment I walk in the door to the time I leave his chair, even to the time I make an appointment with all of his friendly staff (that includes his dental assistants, not a bad one in the bunch!) and they send reminders out which helps me as I have lots of doctor appointments to get to. He's been my dentist four years now and I would not change him for any other dentist in the world! And I've been meaning to put this on Yelp and will make sure to do it right now too, so the whole world knows just how awesome, funny yet professional, kind and cool-headed, and was an INCREDIBLY GREAT JOB he does working on my teeth!
