Be wary. I am a…read morebeneficiary of two accounts that have been with VALIC. I asked for one to be liquidated and the other to be rolled into an Inherited, aka Beneficiary, IRA (IRA-BDA). Although I provided routing info and account number for the liquidation, I was sent a check (which is now in the middle of a 2-week hold period). Although I provided full information for the Beneficiary IRA, VALIC sent a check with no identifying information on the original account holder. That info is legally required for a deposit to an IRA-BDA. The check was refused, needs to be resent, and correct info needs to be included. This may take two weeks to accomplish. One would have thought a large corporation would have done this sort of thing before. Oh, and Customer Service? don't bother to call.
