I've been a member of the Lammas leisure centre for over 12 months now and in that time I've used the facilities at least 5 time a week personally , plus both my daughters have their swimming lessons there and my wife attends some of the group exercise classes. I can say , with some degree of confidence that Lammas is by far the best facility in the Mansfield district. It's been recently refitted with brand new gym equipment , and pools at keep clean and are the correct temperature. The Ice rink offers various programs to suit all abilities. Whilst I admit that the customer facing staff on the front desk can sometimes leave a little to be desired , the internal staff [gym, swimming coaches , etc] have always been exceptional. I would recommend this facility in a heartbeat to any of my friends and would suggest that anybody reading this at least try it out before making a judgement. read more

We persevered with this leisure centre to take our children swimming about 6 months ago (now ages 1 & 3) as it's our closest but due to the service & pool temperature mainly we no longer use it, preferring to travel into Mansfield. In our experience the pools have been too cold for children. Children's sessions have been cancelled (for other events to take place in the pool) which we have not discovered until turning up for them (very disappointed & upset children). On enquiry we were told that this was advertised by means of sheets of paper stuck to the reception desk. Which isn't much use if you check on line before going or aren't in reception often. We have often waited quite a while to be served or to speak with someone (almost to the point of giving up). Generally very disappointing for such a promising new building. read more

Use the squash courts here, am a veteran player of a few decades experience and have played at dozens of venues over the years. The Lammas is a pleasant to play at two glass back court facility and the changing rooms are very spacious. Problems are car parking, despite the size must be loads of spectators taking up spaces; queueing to pay for an already booked court with reception staff involved in enrolling courses at the same time; squash courts really cold when bad weather, the heaters need to be kept on; and the biggest problem, individuals allowed to block book weeks in advance for the same courts which is discrimination against all other players having an equal and fair chance to book courts, an occurance the centre chooses to use.
