Plus, it was out of the city center, more of a neighborhood place. As fate would have it, I was on a walk and saw that this place was minutes away. It was early, around 5 PM, and they were just opening for dinner. I strolled the streets until I arrived, and walked in through the back, and straight into their beautiful courtyard. The courtyard was beautiful, several tables all set and ready for the dinner crowd. I walked toward the restaurant and saw the daily special board, but there were no staff, at least outside. I checked out the board and saw they had Pfefferlingcremesuppe, which is one of my favorite foods! A minute later, a woman walked out and greeted me. I told her I knew it was a Friday, but would there be a table for 2 available? She smiled and said I could come now or at 8:30- I chose 8:30 as 5 pm was a little too early to eat. I left and came back at 8:30, the place was buzzing, and the courtyard was packed! My dining partner couldn't make it, so it was just me. The same woman was there to greet me, she smiled when she saw me and brought me to a table in the middle of the courtyard. I was seated and given a menu. I ordered a cold beer and perused the menu. While there were many great things on the menu, I already knew what I wanted, so when she returned, I ordered the soup and the Schnitzel. The soup was delicious and a large serving, and when I finished, my Schnitzel arrived, with fried potatoes and bacon, and a nice salad. Even though I was by myself, I immensely enjoyed the atmosphere; this place is all local, all having a great time, and friends greeting each other. Service was on point, attentive without being overbearing, and friendly! I had another beer and enjoyed the ambiance, and then paid my bill and walked back to my hotel. Such a great dinner and experience! I will definitely be back here on my next visit to Baden Baden!

As it is our first time in this area we had no idea what to expect. As it turns out, most of the restaurants are in hotels in and around the area, not necessarily in town. As we were walking around town looking for a place, a waitress at a hotel bar suggested we come here and, so we did. It is located directly opposite the train station and in the back so, very easy to miss it. It's a charming place with an old style tiled fireplace in the middle and a number of tables around the restaurant. They have an outdoor area for warmer months. The menu here is typical Schwabisch and had a number of dishes native to this area. As it was Good Friday, they also had a fish menu. The ladies in here were super friendly and helpful. The menu is only in German and, almost no other language is spoken here. We could see a couple of tourists struggling a bit. I went for the fish menu and, it was a great decision. The salad with prawns was very tasty and simple. The Seelachsforelle was cooked to perfection and the burnt butter, was all it needed. I absolutely loved the fish here. It was moist and fell apart nicely with a fork. The desert of Strawberry Tiramisu was also nice, but, nothing special. I tasted the local ravioli (maultaschen) and it was also simple but tasty. The food here I had, was worth 4.5 stars. I would happily come here again. It's good honest food that tastes great. Some choices for vegetarians and plenty of drink choices. The prices are also good and all in all a lovely evening.

It was an accidental discovery about this place because we were hungry. It was Sunday evening and…read morecold. We wanted food and run into this cozy and very authentic German hotel restaurant. The interior decor was all woods and definitely feel like you are in the hiking cabinet. We were surprised that not too many people were inside. They offered local beers and disks. We were in the black forest area which going to be a wide boar and deer. I love local and authentic German food. It was a great time to hang out with friends. In addition, we ran into a German-Vietnamese waitress in this restaurant which very odd. However, she is very friendly and with great smile. Paring is easy, but be careful about traffic cam.
