They seem to be open only two days a week and for a while I think it was just simply closed. But it was open this past weekend so my family and I went. Little did we know that they were having a living history event. We pulled in and saw people in costumes from different eras. It turned out to be really cool. We got to see the museum plus weapons demonstrations, cooking demonstrations in an historic cabin and more. It was a lot of fun. Plus there was the chance to learn a bit about the history of the region. From pre-colonial native history to revolutionary war era and beyond. It was fascinating.

I restarted my piano lessons at the tender age of 64…read more (Admittedly, I did study for 4 years of piano lessons but with very little practicing and no recitals as a youngster). The teachers at Virtuoso have been great to encourage, inspire, and help me in every way to get through the usual obstacles. And now, looking back, I realize that the obstacles have been ALL been in my own mind. Fear of failure, fear of crowds (I am an intense introvert), fear of success (I'll have to perform somewhere unexpectedly), and other worries from who knows where. Ten years of lessons later, and after enduring many recitals, I feel well satisfied and am now ready to set a new goal. By the way, isn't enjoying life about setting goals and striving for success, even if it requires many disappointments? My next goal, I am excited to declare, (my teacher is unaware) is to memorize and perform at a public recital the familiar prelude of S. Rachmaninov's Op. 23, No 5. (listen in Google Music!). It was not a simple decision but, after time, the results were spectacular and managed to pull together the decor. Ironically, it also complemented special prints framed by Coffey & Thompson years ago. All the art involved has special meaning to me as it was done by Australian friends and the painting was of a special place outside of Alice Springs.
