Our cocktails were a lot of fun. I discovered here the Don Papa rum, which is from my home country of the Philippines, where I didn't even know they made rum. It was sweet and smooth; I wish I could remember which house cocktail I had them sub it in for. I do think the dal makhani could have done with several more hours of simmering, but most restaurants do a quick cook on this favorite lentil dish of mine. Like a lot of Munich, Madam Chutney is dog-friendly. My friend's 70-pound dog, Lola, made us a whole table of friends! I was stunned the wait staff was tolerant of it.

An Unexpected Gem in Munich, We Came Back the Very Next Day!…read more What an incredible surprise! We had just landed in Munich from the US and were craving some really good Indian food. By chance, we discovered Madam Chutney, and what started as simply looking for a good meal turned into an out-of-this-world dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, beautifully spiced, and genuinely finger-licking good. Every dish was bursting with authentic Indian flavors and had that wonderful combination of spice, aroma, and comfort that makes you want to keep eating long after you're full! We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day to eat the same food all over again! When you're visiting Munich for only a short time and choose to return to the same restaurant two days in a row, that probably says everything. The atmosphere, the food, and the whole experience made Madam Chutney one of those unexpected discoveries that becomes a highlight of your trip. If you're in Munich and love Indian food, don't miss Madam Chutney. Come hungry, you may find yourself coming back the next day, just like we did! Five stars from us, absolutely delicious and unforgettable!

I had this stuff three times a day for 20 some odd years and, also learnt to cook it from my mom ;-)) As I suspected, I can do this heaps better myself but, for Munich, it is pretty good, hence the three stars. It really is 2.5 stars for me. The menu has a handful of South Indian dishes in it but it's not a South Indian menu. The main thing I wanted to try here was dosa. Unfortunately for me it lacked flavour and seasoning. The dosa itself had good texture and done well however, the taste let it down. The coconut chutney that came with it was made from powdered coconut and it was ordinary at best. The South Indian mixed vorspeise was a bit disappointing and lacked flavour. It's suited to the German palette and not an Indian one. Service was very friendly and the guy who welcomed us was very nice. The place is big with lots of outdoor seating and a nice way to spend an evening. I may go back here again but it's too far from home and I would have to really think hard before I do. I did not have high expectations when we decided to go here and my expectations were met. An ok place for South Indian food in Munich. Not really authentic but it will do. As a lover of South Indian food I will have to keep looking for a place where I can have this food made the way I like it ;-))

It did not have potato sabji inside which is normally the case for authentic Masala dosa. It had a mixture of carrot, broccoli and cottage cheese, a filling I never had in my life. It also tasted bad. The only reason why I giving the place a 3 star is its dosa. Really bad. But pondicherry thali and chicken 65 is a must tr
