The floor looks like it has not been mopped in months. The staff is lazy, unprofessional and will misdiagnose you but wants you to come back and pay another fee if your symptoms have not improved within 3 days. They give me scam vibes. The nursing staff is probably the reason nursing is not considered a professional anymore because every staff member is sitting on their lazy ass. The staff members work on demon time, rude, act like they hate their job and not friendly at all. Most of them should be fired and the clinic needs to be shut down because they are clearly running a shit show up in there. ONCE AGAIN, HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I recently had back surgery at Southern Surgical. I had a rough first day post-op... UNTIL I got…read moremy night nurse, Crystal. She is not only an excellent nurse, she is also an angel. Her level of empathy is unparalleled- I feel blessed to have spent that most difficult night with her as my caretaker. She chose the perfect profession - helping surgical patients heal and feel comfortable and cared for. Crystal took me from feeling despair about my prognosis for pain relief that evening to feeling immense relief. In her very first round that evening, 2/19, she made me smile real smiles. She made me feel comfortable, not vulnerable and awkward, which was half the battle. She listened to my concerns because I was in so much pain. She vowed to help me get good rest. She succeeded. I never write reviews- it's not my thing. But this remarkable lady deserves special recognition. Her girls are lucky to have her for a mom. Her patients, I'm sure, agree with me. I bet her employer does too. She deserves a big raise- just throwing that in. I would like to mention one more nurse that was with me immediately post-op in recovery early that morning. I don't know her name bc I was in Lalaland, but I remember her pretty dark hair. She was more of a tough love nurse- she has to be, right? Those OR nurses are like superheroes. She needed to get me alert so I could get to my room and begin my healing. Chop chop!! She was no nonsense- in a good way. But my legs were on FIRE post op- restless leg. And, baby that I am, I got visibly upset and honey she HANDLED it in under 5 seconds. The anesthesiologist of course did his part but it was like miracle time with this awesome lady. And she tolerated me squeezing the hell out of her hand. Class act. - I'm quite sure the last thing she felt like doing was escorting me to my room. It meant the world to me and I'm grateful. She also deserves a raise .

I would not recommend this office if you value reliability and communication…read more My first issue occurred during my initial Pap appointment in late 2025. I was instructed to undress and wait in an exam room, only to sit there for nearly two hours because my doctor had been called away to deliver a baby. I completely understand that delivering babies is part of an OB-GYN's job, and I respected that. However, the staff knew the doctor was unavailable and could have allowed me to remain clothed and wait comfortably in the lobby instead of leaving me undressed and uncomfortable for two hours. I gave the practice another chance and later underwent a LEEP procedure with Dr. Hymel. I agreed to allow several students or interns to observe because I understand the importance of medical education and wanted to help. I was cooperative and respectful throughout my care. Unfortunately, my final experience confirmed that the scheduling issues were not a one-time occurrence. I recently moved to Metairie but continued making the 45-minute drive because I valued Dr. Hymel as my physician. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was again informed that my doctor had been called away to deliver a baby. After having my vitals taken, I was told to wait in the lobby or go "shopping at Target" until they called me. I had already driven 45 minutes for my appointment and could not spend an indefinite amount of time waiting again. After waiting an additional 45 minutes past my appointment time, I informed the front desk that I would need to find another provider because this appeared to be an ongoing pattern. The employee then asked for my name, despite having just checked me in moments earlier. I understand that emergencies and deliveries happen in obstetrics. My frustration is not with the doctor delivering babies; it is with the repeated lack of communication, poor scheduling practices, and apparent disregard for patients' time. Unfortunately, after multiple experiences like this, I can no longer recommend this practice.
