When I questioned the girl at the window if I had indeed received the "medium", she assured me that I had, and that "it was even measured"! Oh my. My advice? The Custard Cabin offers fine quality desserts that should please anyone. Certainly the quality that you receive comes at a cost- there is no getting around it. Food (and dessert especially) products can either be cheap or good- you generally can only pick one. If you are price sensitive, there are other lower quality options available elsewhere. Kids generally don't know the difference and some times don't finish what they are given- so I can understand why parents might be price sensitive. Be forewarned if your offspring are as described. Having said that, if you are an adult with a reasonably refined taste for frozen desserts, you'll understand where that extra money spent at Custard Cabin went. It is true that they generally have 1-2 "flavors of the day" plus the standby vanilla and chocolate, but they have frozen pints and quarts usually in many flavors to go. You may want to consider the frozen pint/quart option if the flavor of the day just doesn't do it for you. Sometimes they run out of vanilla and/or chocolate close to closing time. You may want to call ahead if your heart is set on the old standbys.
