The campus put off a warm, welcoming vibe even on a day when students were gone for their winter break. Our son was very impressed by the facilities and the variety of course offerings and other opportunities and seems very excited to enroll!

I'm reviewing the campus…read moreas a tourist destination rather than as a place to send your kid to college but if your child can get in as a professor I think you can't do better than a good liberal arts college. Even the best of the great research universities (except the University of Chicago) have distracting party scenes that just aren't as big a temptation at places like this. Anyway, also like other liberal arts colleges, this one is picturesque with a healthy schedule of cultural events. Strong programs in music and arts, humanities result in lots of very good very affordable (often free) concerts and exhibits. The campus is lovely, though being a professor I prefer it during semester breaks when it's not covered in college students. Great college library. Appleton is an economically depressed de-industrialized town with an island of high culture that is this college (yes technically a university, but it's more of a liberal arts college). A unique boutique hotel in an historic restored building and a couple of good restaurants all in walking distance makes this a fun affordable two day destination.

Small class sizes meant real engagement, thoughtful discussion, and mentorship that extended well beyond graduation. Student life is one of SNC's biggest strengths. Whether it was joining organizations, attending campus events, or just hanging out along the Fox River, there was always something happening and always a community to plug into. It's the kind of campus where you actually feel like you belong. Athletics also play a huge role in campus culture. Whether you're an athlete or a fan, the energy around games and events brings the college together in a really special way. The school spirit is real. One of the things I valued most was how connected the college is to the surrounding community. From service opportunities to partnerships with local organizations, SNC encourages students to get involved and make an impact. It made the Greater Green Bay Area feel like a true second home. And affordability. St. Norbert offers helpful financial aid and scholarship opportunities. The support I received made the college not only accessible, but a smart investment in my future. This is the Manitowoc campus of Lakeshore Technical College with the main campus in Cleveland,…read moreWisconsin. The focus here is GED's, high school diplomas, English language classes and test preparation. The instructors here work hard to assure their students' success. I have to admit my wife is one of the best instructors a student could ever hope to have. Many of the students here have poor academic skills. Many of them dropped out due to family problems. Some are new in the country and need English language skills. There are also classes to help them with citizenship. A GED might not be a big deal to a lot of people; but for the students here it can mean a drastic change in their lives and their job opportunities. This term 34 people got their GED's here. That's 34 people whose lives are better today than they were last year. If your educational path was interupted, or you're new to the country. If you need any academic tutoring, it would behoove you to walk in the door here and see how these folks can help you succeed

Class of 2006 I was…read moreenrolled here from 2001-2006 in the Criminal Justice program. I didn't feel like the courses were very challenging and I certainly didn't feel like I was pushed to reach my potential. I obviously cannot speak for everyone across all majors, but my experience was that it was a joke of an institution. Because this is a smaller school, there is no campus life, there are few clubs and few options to build your resume. I was expecting a challenge and I was expecting them to help prepare me for a career in law enforcement. I remember going to the writing lab to have them look at my resume, and they didn't know how to fill one out. I remember asking my advisors about applying for jobs and interview prep courses or seminars and they just got confused. It became apparent to me that the place was barely functioning as it was. That being said, I did have good experiences and did take some very interesting classes, some of which included Native American Literature, Psychology of Women, and Religious Imagination. Even though I had this shiny new degree, was a military veteran as military police, and had completed an internship with a local police department, I was never hired as a cop. I instead went back to school at a local technical college and got hired immediately upon graduation, and saved $75,000 in the process. Would I recommend Marian based on my experience - No, I would not.

A week before summer semester I got a job offer and attempted to withdraw, however they have a…read morepolicy where you cannot fully withdraw without speaking to someone. I left several voicemail and sent emails to several different offices and only my advisor wrote me back. I was recently hit with the 'outstanding' tuition from the semester I never attended which is now in state collections. Their reasoning was literally that it was my fault I wasn't persistent enough after they failed to do their part on so many levels. Between this and two of my teachers being rude, barely qualified and constantly working against you; I am convinced this institution has policies in place to actively detract progress and create difficulties for students trying to exit their money machine. I would never, ever recommend this institution when there are so many other fine options in the UW system that work with and for the students they host, rather than punish them for succeeding and trying to squeeze out every dime.
