Shawn helped me locate a trailer company who promptly arrived and I was able to limp the trailer to the marina. Then Cleave helped me locate a lower unit for my 99 Evinrude 115. Furthermore, his mechanic team was fast and efficient. Lastly, I had to ditch the boat trailer. Cleave was very helpful in saving me a 7hr round trip plus gas. He was able to remove the trailer for me. The boat slip had a big drop off, so that is the only negative from this place. Thanks again for everything, Cleave and Shield Marina Team. Restrooms are spotless and well stocked. The ships store has plenty of what you need and a lot of what you want. Anytime we want to travel overland with our boat, they have gotten our boat and trailer ready for us. I love that many Shields live right at the Marina. The area always feels safe and secure. As long as we have a boat, we will keep it at Shields!

He told us interesting tidbits about the critters, history of the area and some very disheartening facts about the environmental degradation happening over the last few years around the Wacissa. First, the supplies were really nice (nice kayak, paddle, etc.) and fit me perfectly. Second, Tommy is a great teacher and tour guide! He made me feel very comfortable in the kayak and he gave me a few pointers which were instantly useful. Tommy also knows seemingly all there is to know about the wildlife (both above and below the water...definitely some gators out and about...), the lakes and the environmental challenges that they face. No joke, go to Florida Kayak School as soon as you can! I plan to go again soon, next time with the wife and kid!

Possibly the best $4 (per person) you will ever spend. We first went to the Blue hole spring near…read morethe caves, however the water was murky and brown with poor visibility. So I googled nearby springs and this recreation area came up. I was totally surprised to pull up and find that the water was super clear and blue. They have a pretty large swimming area with a diving board and slides. There is plenty of room to lay out and get sun. Also allow you to swim outside of the main area. The lifeguards were super friendly when I asked if I could swim outside the area and even told me where the underground cave was outside of the main area. Underneath the diving board is an entrance to another underwater cave. Be aware that there is a current in the main swimming area. We really enjoyed swimming/snorkeling in the area and seeing the underwater caves. It's a great value!!! I highly recommend hanging out here if you're in the area!!
