It honestly felt like they didn't care at all. And the sanitation? Questionable at best. For a place that's supposed to be about swimming and cleanliness, it did not feel clean or well-maintained. Today was one-on-one with the teacher and getting used to the water. There was some instructions for the kiddos and they did great listening! I definitely recommend giving this place a shot. They have a shallow end for the kiddos. LSH didn't have a shallow end. They have an awesome snack counter with drinks and coffee. Everything you need for swim meats. There is also a large gift shop right when you walk in. We look forward to the rest of the classes as the summer progresses.

At the Silverdale location, they've done away with the little mobile truck that would appear during summer months in the waterfront parking lot and now have a permanent booth down the pier. They only offer sit on top style kayaks (and stand up paddleboards) at this location, likely to cater to a more user and family friendly experience. If you've never been kayaking sit on tops are super stable, easy to get in and out of and don't have that feeling of confinement. The downside is you're almost guaranteed to get wet while paddling. In years past they offered recreational style sit inside kayaks at this location (closed tops with adjustable pedals etc.) which is what I was expecting when we arrived and when I asked it sounds like these might still be available in Poulsbo if that's more your jam. First come, first serve, the gals at the booth were super friendly and helpful and they are happy to store your wallet or small bag behind the counter for you. The nice part about the permanent booth is you no longer have to drag your kayak down the beach to the water, it's tied right there at the pier. Reasonable prices for not having to store, load or haul a kayak of your own from home. They also offer a discounted rate for 'military days' similar to a family night or matinee pricing. I didn't see this specifically advertised on the website just posted on the booth so it might be worth a quick walk down the pier to check their current specials. We snagged the $5 off yelp deal and enjoyed a beautiful morning on the water and Olympic Outdoor Center could not have made our experience any easier!

Check in took a bit, there was a long line, and then we had to wait around 15 minutes for the staff to bring out our paddleboards from the boathouse to the launch spot (which of course ate into our 1 hour rental). I believe all of this could have been avoided if we booked ahead! Will definitely be back again next summer, because the spot and the gear is amazing, just hoping the service gets a bit better :)

The vests have a place to put your phone in that you can easily unzip so you can take out your phone for pictures. They even provide shades for you, if you did not bring any...like I forgot! Blake does a good job with orienting you to the kayak boat so that you can confidently function in and navigate with it.
