I must disagree with the unfortunate and untrue review of Steve Arneson and Lake Murray Counseling Center. I have seen Steve many times for counseling, and he has NEVER betrayed a confidence. He has made general references about patients to show how God works, but has NEVER revealed anyone's name. Happily ,I have made great progress in my life because of Steve and his Biblical counseling. He is a Godly man who uses his training and the Bible as his tools. He is direct and honest, but if you're looking for a counselor who will candy coat things for you and allow you to wallow in your troubles, he's not your guy. He will always tell you the truth, even when it hurts because his mission is to help you get past the pain, hurt, and issues that have broken your life. He wants you to be the person that God desires for you to be which is better than anything we can ever imagine for ourselves. Sometimes counseling gets hard. We get angry because we don't want to admit things we've done-maybe because we're ashamed or because we know that initially admission will bring more pain and hardship. Steve is good at rooting out the true source of issues, and sometimes we don't like that because we know he's right, and we're afraid. Fear can make us react in anger because we don't want to push through. If we can find a reason to be mad at the counselor we can blame him/her and quit. I have four other friends who have seen Steve Arneson with amazing results. Some were able to resolve their issue in just a few visits, and some have been seeing him for years. We are all grateful for him, and the way the Lord works through him. We ALL refer people in need to him, and will continue to do so. The Lord uses Steve in a mighty way, and regardless of the reviews that we write here, good or bad, Steve will be counseling until God says otherwise. read more

My family has seen Steve Arneson over the past year. I have seen other counselors that claim to be Christian counselors and they were not at all. Steve helped me personally with myself and my marriage. As Steve says, God saved my marriage but what he doesn't say and I know is that God placed Steve as a tool for us. We have been married for almost 25 years and the last year has been the best year out of all of them. We have learned how to communicate with each other, understand ourselves better and put God first in our relationship. My marriage was a disaster and moving quickly toward divorce. I know without the help of Steve I would not be married still. My husband and I trust and believe in his advice so much that our son has seen him. I have never experienced anything but a humble man doing the works of God. He doesn't hold back and some may not like that he can tell when you are being forth right but isn't that the point. To fix what is not okay. I have referred numerous friends and family to him and will continue to recommend him. He is professional and he has never been inappropriate with anyone I know. It's the best money we have ever spent!! If you are looking for a counselor to take your money and say what you want to hear then Steve ISN'T who you want. I have been a client of Steve's for over 3 years and I would recommend him to anyone. Not only has Steve helped to save my marriage, help me grown my business, but most importantly, he has helped grown my relationship with God. He has always been very professional with, me and my family. I am not a person who likes to open up about things that are going on or things that had happened in the past, but I can tell you that I feel very confident that whatever I have told Steve is kept between him and myself and never discussed outside of that office. My family has seen Steve Arneson for over a year. We had seen other counselors and Christian based counselors. My husband had seen a counselor for years that had 2 Doctorate degrees that was a supervisor of a large mental health department and nothing was learned from it, but when we finally saw Steve, he taught us how to put God first and to strive to live for his will not our will. Without the spiritual aspect of counseling, it is hard to let go of your pride and offer true forgiveness and move past the hurt. This was the key for us. We have had our teenage son see Steve. Our son had also seen other Christian counselors and has made more strides with Steve than any other counseling he has had. I trust him with our son and he teaches him to honor and obey his parents no matter if our son agrees with us or not. Steve is always professional. I believe he is counseling to glorify God. The counseling from Steve Arneson has by far been the best money we have ever spent. There is no material possession that I could ever own that could replace the peace I have today. Steve will make you work hard and ponder some tough questions, but without that, there can be no growth. He is not there to make you feel better where you are but he tries to help you grow closer to God in your spiritual walk and let the Holy Spirit do the changes within you. read more

I just want to say Steve Arneson at Lake Murray Counseling is an amazing counselor doing God's work through his wisdom. I was in a very dark and lonely place in my walk with God and in my marriage. Through Steve's guidance I am a totally different person today. He uses God's words to guide us though the most difficult times in our lives. I highly recommend Steve and totally trust him with my darkest issues. I trust him with my entire family, and he has done amazing work with all of us. If you need true counseling it should be delivered from a Christian counsellor and there are none better than Steve Arneson. Steve is an amazing man and always willing to provide his guidance either in his office or by email. Just to give you an example that Steve is truly driven by our Lord and Saviors word. I had one session when we got distracted during my personal prayer and Steve handed me my check back as I was leaving. He demonstrated that his counseling is not about money, but about working out God's plan for us though Steve's amazing godly conviction! God works in mysterious ways.......Romans 11:33 Steve Arneson works straight on and upfront. He was highly recommended by two different, well-respected contacts. I am grateful that God put us in his office and his guidance and feedback have been extremely eye opening, uplifting and HOLY. My wife and I are learning more about our walk with Christ than we ever had before. Steve doesn't just take our money and tell us what we want to hear.......he tells us what we need to hear.....what God wants us to hear. Any one who has experienced a good chunk of "life" and a good chunk of "business" knows how important it is to get the TRUTH. We have been working with Steve for almost 7 years. My Pastor recommended Steve to help us prepare for marriage. This was a remarriage for both of us and we wanted to make sure that we did it the right way with God First. Steve is scripturally based and we wanted to build a marriage on Biblical fundamentals. I would recommend Steve Arneson as a counselor for everyone. He is a christian man first and foremost. He has never breached the integrity line and feel very secure sharing with him. He uses biblical principles in his practice and he is well versed in their application. My husband and I have seen Steve for several years. For starters. Steve helped us with setting our priorities: God first, family second, and work third, in that order. Steve has helped us in many other areas, including rebuking satan, living in the Spirit, and to guarding our hearts. Christ focused and biblical sound are attributes of Steve.
