I've got a pretty strong stomach and i almost lost it one morning.. CHILDREN - apparently being 40 minutes outside of Ft Collins means all the breaders gather, with their kids, bikes, corn hole, toys, etc - and the idea of a quiet camping trip is out the window. Once outside they have no quams speaking loudly. No quiet talk, or the ability to keep one's voices under control. The map appears to have the "road" right next to the campsite... bring something to wheel your gear. It's not far to enjoy the view, but was a surprise how far it was from the car! I had to knock off a star due to the caliber of people that stay here. We did a weird stay - sat and sunday night vs the normal fri/sat. Apparently if you book 3 campsites you freel you can let you 2-4 childen per family scream incessantly, yell to each other across the whole camp site, ride their bikes thru your site, play corn hole or some traveling bocci ball thing thru the whole camp ground and expect you to be able to enjoy yourself. Heaven forbid you tear yourself away from your game of wizard something or other to determine where your children are, what they are doing or to have then refrain from screaming - gotta love how water is like a loudspeaker to spoken word... oy! Alas - i would probably go back, just for the peacefulness (like sunday when the loud families take off, or when you take the trail around the lake).Or there are RV sites that are not on top of one another - so you can have your car and tent and view and not too much of a generator noise in your ear!

Shore fishing isn't much better because of the two foot waves ripping up the shoreline and muddying the waters. Since the wake boats rent the marina slips and buy the 6 dollar a gallon gas the damage they do to the shoreline and the fishermen they drive away can only be a profit incentive by the vender who operates the campground and lake. And since there is absolutely no enforcment of rules on the lake, it's a free for all!

They do have a decent water and dump station so that worked out well. There's NO trees or here. The lake is pretty and the honestly it seemed like people were really enjoying themselves. We picked this spot because we wanted to be by the lake but also have Kremmling and Steamboat nearby. Overall a good stay.

There are a multitude of options for types of sites and if sites havent been rented they say open and you can claim them, however, you have to pay cash or check in the moment. There are tent only sites, day use, and rv sites with electrical hookup. Water currently unavailable. Definitely would come back and hopefully for longer!

The bathrooms have running water, full stocked with toilet paper but no soap so be sure you bring some. The sites contain bear boxes, picnic tables, fire pit and pad for your tent. You can always park your car close to any of the sites. There are designated paths that lead to the water and very small beach area. A ton of paddle boarders, a few boats and jet skis but, mostly people just enjoying the water close to the beach area.

They are cleaned many times a day. We found people are respectful and keep their dogs under control. They also have lockers at each site to put food in. There is a nice loop trail with an option to go a little further. If you do the short loop, be careful you don't miss the hard turn about 100 degrees to the left to head back to camp at the wooden sign on the trail. Enjoy!

We never saw a bathroom or showers cleaned in the 6 days we were there. Out of order showers, the ones that did work offered only cold water. The former Management Company was great. These new camp hosts never even raked or cleaned a site the entire time. It is shameful that this Company was awarded this contract. Pay no attention to reviews before this year, it used to be managed amazingly but in 2025 they awarded the job to a Company that does nothing.

Less than an hour away from Steamboat Springs, Pearl Lake State Park is a jewel (yes, I went…read morethere). It is about 2 miles off of CR-129. We went to do some morning photography and caught some stunning scenery, with Aspen groves turning yellow. While it was still a bit early for the full fall beauty, the serenity and quiet of the surroundings, other than nature, was nice. The campgrounds are in great shape. The restrooms were very clean. The lake does not allow motorized boats, but kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc. are fine. We saw a lone kayaker enjoying the morning on the lake. This is a beautiful place for camping, hiking, fishing or just sitting back and watching the sun move slowly across the sky while you enjoy a bottle of Syrah or Pinot.
