I would highly NOT recommend staying at Still Waters Campground based on my experience with…read moremanagement. Today I rolled through a stop sign in the campground. I understand that was my mistake, and I accepted being told not to do it again. However, what happened afterward was completely unnecessary. Instead of simply speaking with me later at the office or sending a text, management chose to chase me down in a vehicle. I was driving around the campground under the speed limit, yet I was accused of speeding because they claimed they had to drive 30 mph to catch me--even though they had to turn around before following me. What made it even more frustrating was that I was told to "lead by example" while the manager herself admitted to driving around 30 mph in a 10 mph campground just to catch up to me. That felt incredibly hypocritical. What bothered me most was the way the situation was handled. I tried to walk away to avoid escalating the confrontation, but the manager continued arguing with me. She even told me to "go get my boyfriend," as if I couldn't speak for myself. I'm a grown woman and didn't appreciate being dismissed like that. Later, after I had calmed down, my boyfriend and I went to the office so I could apologize for raising my voice and explain my side of the situation. Unfortunately, management wasn't interested in having a productive conversation and came across as condescending and unwilling to listen. It also seems like the rules are enforced inconsistently. We have watched plenty of other people roll through that same stop sign without being stopped or chased down. If safety is truly the concern, the rules should apply EQUALLY to everyone instead of selectively enforcing them. Overall, this experience left a VERY bad impression. A simple warning then walking away could have resolved everything, but instead it turned into an unnecessarily confrontational situation. Customer service and professionalism from management were extremely disappointing.

We enjoyed walking around and seeing the horses. One of the trainers gave us a tour of his barn, plus we went down and watched the horses practicing on the track. On a side note, I left a bag of souvenirs behind, and I called the next day and the staff found it and mailed it to me! Very nice people! We will definitely be staying here again!

Because everything stayed on schedule, we were able to arrive at each destination at the time we were told we would. You could really tell that Jefferson Tours values organization, safety, and making sure their guests have a great experience. We truly enjoyed the trip and would definitely consider traveling with Jefferson Tours again! Best off all, we met some great folks and enjoyed the time spent during our group outings. The Tour office does not seem, in my opinion, to care about the seniors traveling - especially the handicapped or older paying clients. There is a lack of consideration for elders using canes or walkers. Asking for handicapped hotel or motel rooms falls on deaf ears. Trying to talk to the Tour office results in getting a machine, or if you get an answer, they don't want to hear what you have to say and conveniently disconnect. This company's owners need to realize the majority of people going on bus tours are seniors, and if they are ignored, can't get a handicapped room, or have destinations changed where there is a lot of climbing stairs or hills, or have to sit on a bus driving in circles - they will go to another company.

It is also worth going to see both cemeteries that are near the house as well and are a short hike from the house in opposite directions. The hike to the two cemeteries is worth doing on a nice day.

Each time I've visited Wooden Glen, it's been for a work meeting. On my last trip, I spent the…read morenight. From Louisville it's less than an hour drive, off the Henryville exit and down a curvy neighborhood road. While a scenic drive on a nice day, it was a little nerve-racking in the early morning. No sunlight and rain. The road isn't well lit and I had to use my brights, plus drive more in the middle of the road. On the path to the retreat center, you'll also drive through a covered wooden bridge made for only 1 car at a time. Check in was fast. About 50 rooms with double beds sit next to the main building and you can walk a long hall inside to avoid bad weather. The main building contains meeting rooms, eating area and a loft with snacks, pool table and a couple of arcade games. The loft is a favorite spot during meeting breaks - jars of candy, chips and ice cream. Plus, who doesn't love a free game of Ms Pacific Man? Our trip included all 3 meals and for the most part, decent. The employees there are very attentive, clearing plates from the tables. It's nice to not worry about bringing in food or having to leave and visit a restaurant. Wooden Glen has a great deck outside with several tables, giving your group another spot for meetings or eating. In nicer weather you'd have areas for walking and I believe they also offer a team building area. The rooms are large. I appreciated the sink outside the full bath and small patio outside each room for enjoying coffee. The bed wasn't comfortable - felt outdated and had a weak mattress. Everything was very clean though. The outdated feeling carries through to each gathering area near the rooms. Each have couches and chairs, sometimes a fire place or kitchen area. It's a large spot to have a party. Again, very clean but it would be nice to have new furniture. Service has been great at Wooded Glen, and this has been consistent with every visit. It's a great spot for work retreats or a large family gathering. Or, if you just needed a quiet spot to be alone, it would serve that purpose.

We had a retreat here for work which included 22 of us. We made this place our home, classroom, and our playground for 3 days! This is located about 35 minutes from downtown Louisville. Once you entered the property you are entering a place of Tranquility and peace. During our time here every need was taken care of. We had amazing food For each meal, snacks and drinks too! The day before we left we had Team building activities. Shaun and Amy led our groups through multiple events. These team building events were challenging and incredible. They created such an amazing and unique experience! The resort has hotel style rooms, volleyball court, horse shoes, walking trails, fire pits, and more! Can't wait to visit again!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Two…read moreof my dearest friends tied the knot recently, and I cannot fathom a better venue for their wedding. With the wedding day scheduled for a Saturday, the bridal party and groomsmen were able to leave gowns, beauty products, suits, and overnight bags in our rooms the Friday before upon completing the rehearsal. This allowed for an easy situation to walk in to on the morning of the wedding as we prepared for the ceremony later that afternoon. The house was built in the mid 1800s and has been kept within the family since then. The current owners, Kim and Chaz, take great pride in the house and were extremely accommodating towards our group. They were on hand throughout Saturday to answer any questions. As a history nerd, I loved speaking with them more on the history of the house and the surrounding gardens (that were stunningly beautiful in September) as I snuck a cigarette on the back porch during the reception. When the bride & groom booked the venue, they were also able to secure accommodations for the bridal party. Considering that all five of the bridesmaids live over an hour away, it made for the perfect place to crash post reception. Our two flower girls had a ball exploring the house and spent the night as well with no problem. To top off the magical wedding weekend, Kim and Chaz prepared coffee and breakfast on Sunday morning for the guests that spent the night. I highly recommend considering Midlane Farm as a special events venue. The service we received certainly deserves five stars!

We stayed three nights at EC and had a relaxing and enjoyable visit. All the employees were very friendly and welcomed/ thanked us for visiting. The park has a nice swimming pool, mini-golf, playground, and pavilion. On Saturday evening they had live music and a food truck. Overall, the sites are spacious, especially the ones along the creek. The creek side sites are all paved pads, level, and FHU. These sites seem to be newly renovated compared to the non-creek sites. Water pressure was very good and consistent electricity throughout our stay. The one minus is the poor WIFI. A for purchase upgrade was available, but the free WIFI was very limited. The bathhouse is very nice, clean and modern. We were fortunate to have a buddy site (#9) with our friends and it was an amazing location. Common fire pit and plenty of room to spread out. The creek flowing behind the site was very relaxing and we wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend Elkhorn Creek and we will stay here the next time we visit the Lexington area. FYI- The campground is only 5 miles from Buffalo Trace.

Originally we received a 15% discount for booking a week -long stay. When we went to the office to extend one more night, not only would the lady not honor the 15% off discount on the additional night, she very rudely refused to even apply a 10% Good Sam club discount. The logic escapes me!! If the extra night did not qualify as part of the original stay, then the extra night is, in my opinion, a new reservation which should have qualified for the Good Sam discount!! I have never been spoken to so rudely, and by someone in a supposed "customer service" role!! Really very unprofessional!!

On the day of the tour, my boyfriend and I were picked up at our hotel by a comfortable van driven by our tour guide, Andy. The van came stocked with cold bottles of water and a few snacks like pretzels, peanut butter cracker sandwiches, and granola bars. We hit the road and made stops at Heaven Hill, Willet, and Maker's Mark distilleries, with an included break for lunch at a local spot in Bardstown (Mammy's Kitchen & Bar). Each distillery hosted a tasting, and we also did full tours at both Willet and Maker's Mark. Andy was a terrific guide; he was experienced, friendly, and patient. At the end of our ~8.5 hour day, we were dropped off at our hotel doorstop. It was such a fun and relaxing excursion that we were able to enjoy at an affordable cost. I would highly recommend Travel the Trail to anyone!
