We love this camp ground. It's a hidden gem off of 127 in Frankfort. Just minutes from the capital…read morebuilding and Buffalo Trace Distillery. It's nestled back into nature and right on the Kentucky River of course. We are full timers and have been living here for 4 months and we are going to be sad to leave. The campground is filled with everything you need. There's an awesome common room with tables a fridge stove TV/Cable also A WiFi Cafe (just ask for password) and laundry room. So many things all there for your use. There's also an awesome men's and womens restroom that they just redid the floors in and are now painting! Two showers each is very convenient. If you want a fire pit by your camper just ask! Most people here have their own. You may not be parked on the river. But it's just. Short walk and benches are available for enjoying the views. It's a very short walk to the water from anywhere in the camp. Most of the campers here are share holders and only come for the weekends so during the week it's very quite and relaxing. Many weekends there have been live bands and so many other fun activities going on! Every is usually friendly and polite. Don't forget to wave at your neighbors! Charles, Rus, and another gentleman (sorry I forgot your name) do an amazing job to accommodate you during your stay and work hard to make the campground what it is. Don't forget the office where you'll check in and such has items available for sale from sweets to t shirts.

Accidentally came upon this campground after we had some major truck issues. Angie, the manager and…read moreeveryone we came in contact with were super nice and helpful during our unplanned stay. Campsites were close, but still had ample room to socialize. Grounds were well maintained. Nice, quiet, and peaceful location for a quick stay or extended trip. Would definitely return. Most impressed with all the staff and campers that made us feel like family. Since we were without a truck for 6 days, we were offered rides, food or anything we needed. One long term camper, Chuck offered us his truck for the day! In traveling, you don't always look at the physical amenities a place has to offer, but the personal connection that the "camping family" provides. Thanks Angie, Russ, Chuck, Kelly, Bryan and all. While our truck was delivered back to us, the kitchen slide broke (on our new camper) . Sadly, our long awaited trip to Maine was cancelled as we had to return home. Still waiting for repairs.

Dark and remote, tricky roads, sewage, garbage, resident campers, golf cart traffic and poor…read moreplanning/managing. The nice thing about this campground is that it's remote and very far from interstate noise. It is dark at night to allow good stargazing. We saw the Milky Way through 7X binoculars and heard a huge pack of coyotes howling not far away. Tricky roads: The road is just wide enough for a camper and an almost 180° turn coming from the Worthville direction. I had to back up onto the main road to get a wider swing with our 40' Solitude so the tires wouldn't drop off the side. There is no sign at the main road to let you know there is a campground on the one lane road you're taking your huge camper down with possibility there may not be place to turn around if not. Couldn't verify with a satellite image as there was no cell service. Luckily someone came by and we asked and found out it really was back there. Then the one lane bridge is barely wide enough for a camper. May have had about 4" on each side of our Solitude to the guard rails. Then another sharp turn just before the campground. Sewage: The full hook-up at our site was horrible. I don't know if the plumbing didn't have enough fall or just backed up. Luckily I dumped our gray water a few days in, noticed it stop draining and backing up the hose so I dumped the night before so it could settle and not have to wait when trying to leave. Although when I did unhook when leaving, the sewer did back up into our site causing a very unhealthy and unsanitary condition as there was no plug to cap off the sewer. I noticed at a site nearby that the hookup there was broken off. Trash: There is no trash pickup at the sites. When I asked I was told there were dumpsters back in the resident area but there was a gate operated by a code or pass that we didn't have and we could drive it back there. They would let us in but this seemed ridiculous to me. I asked if we left and the office wasn't open to let us in we'd have to leave it at the site and she said "well then I guess we'd have to pick it up". Residents: There are people living here so if that bothers you, now you know. Golf car traffic: Golf carts are running almost non-stop here so your vehicle will be covered in dust by the time you leave. Bring something to at least wash your windows prior to leaving. Difficulty factor increased navigating tricky roads with low visibility through dust. Many of the golf cart drivers have the steering wheel in one hand and a beer in the other even while taking their kids trick or treating through the campground in October. Poor management: It appears that management changes often here. Not sure if it keeps getting sold or just managers changing. All of the above except the roads themselves could be solved if the manager of the facility would want to make it better. We won't go back though regardless.

Nice Indiana State Park…read more HUGE lake. Nice and clean campgrounds; well-groomed grounds. Not big on hiking trails but not bad. It's more about the watersports, fishing, and perhaps hunting. There are two campgrounds, one primitive/tents and the other for mostly RVs and trailers, with a few spots for tents. Everything was clean, given it was a holiday weekend. There is no store or restaurant close by, so bring EVERYTHING YOU NEED, including fuel-- as their marina wasn't pumping when we stayed there (not that we needed it). When it's not a holiday weekend, it's reasonably quiet, but expect a lot of boat traffic noise and loud music on the holidays-- we tried both a holiday and a non-holiday adventure. The signage to the park gates from the county roads stinks, but inside the park, it's not too bad. Get the downloadable map from the IN DNR before you go. Cell service is spotty, and thank heavens!

A few clean and spacious bath houses conveniently located. Two dump stations. One is oddly placed as your coming in, but it does give campers 2 options instead of one. There is an amphitheater and they do random movie nights. There's a beach area with a snack shack. Decent sand for a fun day out with the kids. Playground is in the first loop to the right.
