Not sure why the only people who post are disgruntled ones. Lol. I've lived here for over 2 years and still enjoy it. My apartment backs onto a beautiful pond that has well maintained walking path around it. People enjoy walking it everyday! Sometimes the kids will ride their little bikes or scooters around it...I love to hear them giggle! There are lots of dog poop stations and I haven't found the habits of other residents with their dogs to be too unresponsible, definitely no more than anywhere else. I see reviews showing pictures of trash piled up. Has the trash compactor ever broken, sure, maybe twice since I've lived here. But it was fixed pretty quickly and, honestly, the trash compactor isn't near ANY apartment units! Why can people only point to the bad things? The pool...we LOVE the pool!! I saw someone complaining about the lack of water quality tests... ...if they're that worried, they shouldn't be in ANY public pool because that little kid in the shark trunks is DEFINITELY going to pee in it! LOL. One of the things that I enjoy about the pool is that there are enough older adults in the community that we are not overrun by unruly and unsupervised children. God love the old ladies who keep them in line and the parents that have been responsible! I've met many really nice people at the pool! Management does a community BBQ every summer, providing all the food, and that has been really nice. They also throw in beach balls, some floats and some noodles too...very nice. The poolside furniture has been well maintained. As far as no cash deposit slot...sorry, but no one wants cash today...come into this century. They have an online resident portal that is very easy to use and navigate. As far as responsiveness...I think people want them to be magicians! Things happen! I mean if you want to live in a brand new complex then, obviously, this isn't it...go down the road and pay over a thousand dollars more for the same thing! I've had two incidents over the two years and managements response time was extremely reasonable and kind. Let me just say that when you rent, you should have a good renters policy to cover your belongings. Will I renew again, most likely. I'd like to be in a house, but, honestly, with the RTP housing market the way it is right now, this complex is a good value. read more

New management...new amenties--you painted, and have invited food trucks out a few times...big deal. Closed the drop off box for allowing payment by check/cash...when the office has bankers hours it makes it difficult to get payments in person especially when you long hours. The office manager proceeds to explain, "industry standards", who cares about industry standards! I'm here to make a payment, with my late fee; that you won't accept! How about doing what's right/easy to your folks renting from you? I've been in the same unit for 1 year, paid by check...never had a problem or being late, until they closed the drop box. They require delivery of check/cash in person. Four other folks had late payment, wonder if they were late or just not able to drop off rent, in person. I don't want to pay by debit or credit card! Major retail companies have trouble keeping information secure, I don't just don't want to go there with rent. Why not survey your current tenants, before making changes? We're not interested in a DJ at the pool on a Monday night with free snacks, who is smoking in the pathway of to get to the pool, that's classy!! How about taking the money you spent on the DJ and putting into having the trash man come by an additional day? THE GARBAGE IS PILING UP, IT SMELLS! BEWARE! Our a/c died. The complex brought us a portable unit half the size needed for the apartment because it was a multiple bedroom unit. The bedrooms ended up getting up to 79/80 degrees during the day even with fans blowing the cold air in. We have had to deal with this for five days their supposedly coming in next week to fix it. We also told them we have dogs and the dogs are panting all day because its so hot for them. Very very very disappointed and it seems like the front office wasn't to concerned. read more

The first year and a half was nice the previous management actually cared which was the rea a on for initially moving here..I ended up moving into another unit. On the very 1st night at 3 am there were roaches everywhere in the kitchen. I spent the first night moving my things back into storage! New management is awful!!! as with most places. They try to normalize moving in and having roaches in an apartment is ok. this place is disgusting. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Do not rent this place under any circumstance whatsoever! Roach infested property, no exaggeration! They claim to spray every "Tuesday" but I have never seen them. According to the leasing office "the roaches are native to the area and are like common spiders." Even after I stressed the fact that this is not acceptable living conditions. Once you sign a lease with them forget about getting out of it for any reason. This property was previously owned and managed by Preferred Apartment Communities (PAC) Atlanta, GA. What a reputable and professional team to work with. I moved to this community in October, 2016 only touring the property via online. I was moving from another state and needed something fast. I secured a one bedroom unit adjacent to the model unit used to show potential new residents. I was also conveniently located to the pool, outdoor mailbox station, garbage dump, & leasing office. The management & staff of PAC were fabulous to work with during my transition & move in. They were always professionally dressed in company logo attire and represented the PAC standards of excellence with everything they did for myself and the property. However, about mid-Spring of 2017 residents were notified that Lake Cameron had sold and another management company would be taking over. The new company, Fogelman Properties took over somewhere between April-June, 2017. The switchover was quick and the changes were evident immediately. Notices were paper folds stuck in resident doors, or scotch taped to frequent areas such as the outdoor mailbox station, door leading to the small work out room, or the door into the community laundry mat. Along with the changes came a completely new staff both in the office & maintenance team. The difference was obvious among all the residents. No longer a leasing team professionally & uniform dress, neat appearance, smiling face & warm friendly greetings when entering the leasing office. No more warm offers to fresh coffee or doughnuts & no longer that open door opportunity to speak with the property manager. My experience each time I visited the leasing office was a closed door & closed blinds to the managers office. Fogelman later sent an assistant manager person who shared an office with the maintenance supervisor in a back office. There was no assistant in person from the assistant manager in any of my requests made during my time at Lake Cameron. My face to face interactions were always handled by the office secretary or the maintenance supervisor. Understanding, that the previous staff have all now been replaced by new staff, most are Spanish speaking employees so at times there were language barriers that sometimes took the help of other Spanish speaking staff to better explain. About the property as a whole: the property immediately went from a great score of 10 to low score of 3. The community trash dump for the 300 plus units on property are consistently over filled and garbage, furniture, appliances, boxes, etc. are piled on the ground in plain sight as residents, family members, friends, & guests enter the property. Adjacent from the garbage is the mailboxes. At times this area is strewn with papers & trash on the ground as well. Be sure to notice that the pool is not very deep and during my time at Lake Cameron I never used the pool because there were no visible posted recordings pool water checks. Also, research what type of community best suits you and your family. The communities that are accepting residents based on low income or communities that accept housing assistance from outside agencies to help those who need the help unfortunately are unable to keep up a higher level of amenities & special perks to their residents. I moved out from Lake Cameron in August of 2017. This was not the atmosphere for me and my family. I reached out to Fogelman on several occasions about the excessive garbage, the constant odor of illegal drugs I smelled on a daily basis, other unprofessional property management concerns. I do not recommend this property for young families, professional families, retirees, elderly, or anyone seeking a quiet & warm place to call home. I would encourage you to read reviews on yelp, google, & apartment comparison sites. Also look into legal advice for the landlord/tenant laws. Gaining a proper understanding of your rights is important when it comes to protecting your rights as a tenant. Also more helpful advice is to research the reviews for other properties managed/owned by the same management group of the property you may be interested in. Gathering all such information will help you and your family make the best decision. If the opportunity arises to interview residents at these properties it never hurts to hear what they have to say either. Finally, check with other property management groups about the reputation of who is managing where your interested in moving. Since moving from Lake Cameron Apartments I have been sharing my horrible move out experience with other property & realty groups in the Raleigh/Wake County area and the response has been overwhelming that I made the right decision moving. I love the grounds of this complex. I am from New Hampshire and I am used to a heavy wooded area and this fits the bill. I don't like a lot of the complexes around here that are like buildings in a parking lot. I am not bothered by some complaints people are making. I have never had problems with roaches because I have been proactive. However I am having a HUGE problem getting them to fix the list of problems I have been having. Today was the worst. Nothing is getting fixed and I now have a mold problem in three areas of my apartment no matter how many times I tell them that BOTH sinks leak, my tub is chipping, and now there was a water leak from the upstairs apartment and they said they dried the excess water. You can smell the mildew. The carpet needs to be replaced. I am not living in an apartment full of mold and pay a grand each month for a tiny one bedroom. read more

im writing this review because we are not happy with management here. last year, our apartment flooded. management did not even offer us a hotel to stay in or any assistance with the water or electric bill increase we experienced as a result of the flooding. since then, every maintenance request has been either delayed or unanswered. managers are rude. Family and I have now been here 10 months, so a review is due. First of all, we relocated here from Florida. We had toured the community on one of weekend trips and had to decide on a place within that coming month. Upon decision the lease was acquired pretty swiftly via email and phone, So that was a huge plus. Once we arrived to NC there were no problems what so ever with our paperwork. Once in apartment a few things needed repair but those were quickly handled (within a day or two). Within these 10 months... *Office and staff- I think honestly speaking most staff in any community put their best foot forward initially. Staff here have proven to be quite friendly over time and will attend to all your questions and concerns, will also make an effort to get help out to you as quickly as possible, they do a great job at letting you know you have packages waiting by leaving a package slip in your box and there is always someone at the office up until closing. *Apartments- A tad outdated throughout, but on the other hand great size dining and living space (this is a plus with some of the older communities), well sized bedrooms and baths, good closet space and huge pantry. You get all your major appliances and in our case all have worked well and with no problems, No storage unit in balcony but Overall good value for your money. *community- Well situated and within seconds to shopping, although the via it actually sits on is quite busy and can sometimes be a pain to cross and merge. Nicely kept grounds, trash is kept at bay and hardly ever a problem, some bugs here and there but i think thats normal out here. Playground space is great but the playground itself is also a bit outdated. during summer pool was always very clean and area neat, gym is a good size and always pretty clean too. Lots of parking and seems like neighbors are aware of each others preferences as "your" parking space is always available. This is a pet friendly community and in my opinion its kept pretty poo and filth free considering the amount of dogs I've seen, good job on maintenance part, I believe this also has a lot to do with the pet owners being considerate as well. And yes they have a small dog area within the grounds. The community also has a car wash port and storage units. The units look pretty big and from what i remember a good price to rent out(monthly). Community also hosts several events throughout year such as pool parties, garage sales and get to know your neighbors get togethers. *maintenance staff-quick and efficient, very friendly and always respectful, Repairs- mostly good but could be better i think if head honcho provided better quality materials so that repairs could have a better lifespan, not maintenance fault. *neighbors-generally keep to themselves but quite considerate and friendly when around or approached. One or two questionable individuals, but you get those no matter where you go. Neighbors and community i find to be pretty quiet, but then again we're a city family. I think in general people are mindful and respectful, weekend mingles you will hear once in a while but yet to hear anything out of control. I've had dinners and people over with no complaints. *Safety- We feel pretty safe within the community, we come home late quite often (ok late for parents... 10 or 11ish ) and even with our son we have never felt unsafe. The community also has a live in officer if that makes u feel safer. I think we made a good choice and are in general happy here. We are saving to buy a house so Its a great place to live and save a few dollars without having to sacrifice the necessary and a peaceful place to come home to. Hope this helps. read more

The apartments are great, excellent location, very close to great schools, the community was wonderful, and the staff was extremely helpful! No apartment is perfect, even when you own a home which we did for 22 years comes with many imperfections. Bad neighbors, people throwing trash on your lawn, solicitors. All in all this is a nice place, yes there are bugs, but they are everywhere be proactive we do and haven't had an issue. Instead of complaining about the trees ruining your view, be happy you have a view and a roof over your head. Enjoy what you have. read more

So many problems with Lake Cameron Apartments in Apex. 1. Huge trees in front of my entire porch. This blocks my view out (I asked them to remove the trees but they said no), allows trash and leaves from the sidewalk to collect next to my porch, and there's a huge family/colony of roaches that live in the trees outside my porch (which I told them about and nothing was done). So basically I have a porch that goes unused. 2. I've had 2 leaks into my apartment and each time maintenance has left a mess. 3. Every time maintenance comes to "fix" something, it's a half-ass job. My sink wasn't draining efficiently so instead of using a snake, they just opened up the drain more (now it's sticking out, looks bad, and still drains slow). My closet door was off track, they took out a screw instead of aligning the door. My freezer wasn't freezing 100% so they pulled the freeze farther from the wall to "let it breathe" (which makes sense) but it now slightly blocks the pantry door. 4. The laundry room had about a 100 dead beetles all over the floor, it took them about a week to finally get it cleaned (I started renting a washer and dryer after that). 5. Outdated appliances. No microwave. The oven doesn't have a clock, timer, or self cleaning. The shower head is old with low pressure. 6. The entrance gates have been "broken" (aka constantly open) for about 10 months now. I'm definitely moving out when my lease is over. However, I must say the people who work in the leasing office are very nice. read more

I agree with the resident who left this response below: if you like slamming doors and things falling off the walls or shelves because the doors are being slammed....then this is the place for you. if you like getting your rent raised $50 a month and a shoddy repair job done in your apartment...then this is the place for you. oh yeah if you like managements non-involvement with these issues then this certainly is the place for you. if you like your dog barking because of the noise and the neighbors report you for a noise nuisance then come live in lake Cameron apartments....never a dull moment!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not a bad place to live, but I am going through the same issues above and the problem is not being addressed, then I feel as I'm the one with the problem. 80% of the staff are friendly, but they will like you better if you don't complain.
