The path is about a half-mile around, good for walking, of course, and even for biking. We live close to the park, so we ride it when we have less time to spare or as part of a longer ride. You will see long legged water birds there, and occasionally a small alligator, especially in winter when they like to float in the sun. So no swimming allowed! There are also exercise stations every fifty feet or so, and recently they added a set of 18 disc golf nets for tournament or individual play. Some are near the pond while other nets are in the nearby woods on paths. There is also a fine rest room building with plenty of parking next to it. I believe there are a couple of picnic tables near the rest room building, as well as benches on the trail. If you go there to walk your dog, I would suggest using a leash as sometimes a dog roaming free wanders around and you will want to be able to control your fur baby. You probably won't run into a kitten with a fish hook in its side as we did. But I can report a happy ending as the little rascal is the latest member of our cat family.

It's adorable, located on a small spit of land at the Port of Mount Dora next to the boat launches. The lighthouse was completed in 1988 and stands 35 feet tall. It is built from brick. Besides the nature walk through the board walk where we saw LOTS of wildlife (woodpeckers, baby alligators, turtles, ospreys and more) and beautiful cypress trees, you can also rent kayaks. This place is dog friendly. There are even baggies for people to pick up after their pets. I recommend wearing closed shoes if you want to walk the full trail. The board walk ends in a dirt path which loops around, but is not ideal terrain for sandals. However, walking to the end of the boardwalk and back again is just as fun (that's what we did ;) ) The park hours are sunrise to sunset but the board walk opens at 7:30am. Honestly this is a must see.

The one time when my son and his friend were throwing an object back and forth In the pool and my son got hit in the eye accidentally, they called me immediately and the P.A. was able to write him a prescription and she took care of everything. The camp is a little "quaint" but that adds to its charm. Last year my son did a week at another camp and begged me to only enroll him at Camp Horizon. It was way overcrowded at that other camp and the food terrible. I will be sending my daughter to Camp Horizon when she old enough. I appreciate they keep the price reasonable too.

It is off the beaten path in rural Leesburg. You enter through a quaint tree lined road and reach the campground that is situated on lake Harris. The dock reminds me of something out of the movies. It is wooden with an upper deck that looks out over the massive lake. The camp director was nice and let us take a walk around. The grounds were so peaceful and relaxing. The buildings are older but well maintained. They have air conditioned cabins, a gymnasium, snack bar, chapel and dining hall. The price includes 3 hot meals for the week. There are discounts if you attend two weeks and if you have a sibling that attends. I would have visited a long time ago however they have van trasportation from Pembroke Pines for only $10. each way!!! They don't have any televisons and they don't allow campers to use cell phones or electronics. My kids come home tired after having a blast all week . Last year my daughter had such a good time that she actually got camp sick. When she got home she was upset for days because she wanted to go back!!!
