It's old school, in the sense that the place seems frozen someplace in the 1950 and 60s -- what barber worth their salt doesn't seem that way? Anyway, the people here are friendly and welcoming. This is important because I've been in some barbershops in the area where you walk in and they look at you like you've disturbed some club. Uncool beyond belief. I went to the website and was able to make an appointment for his newest location (in Hyattsville) in a matter of minutes. Parking was easy as there was ample street parking right in front of the shop (Meter parking that is, so make sure you've got cash that jingles!). The shop, although small, was very trendy. I loved the exposed brick and decor. There looked to be about 4 stations for barber/stylists, which I also loved because I hate being in overly crowded (overly loud) shops. It was a perfect fit. Wade was prompt and didn't have a long line of people waiting to get in his chair. Once he finished the guy who he was currently in his chair, he was ready for me. This is EXTREMELY important for me, because as someone who truly values their time, I hate to have to wait long periods of time when I already have an appointment. And time is not something that all barbers/stylists value of their customers. Once I sat in Wade's chair, I told him (kinda, sorta) the look I was going for. Even though I wasn't 100% able to describe it, he nailed it. I was completely satisfied with my cut there. I'll definitely be back again. I then asked if I could schedule an appointment, but the person who answered hung up right after I asked. I called back to try again, and the individual on the phone was still very rude. They said they had a 6:00 PM slot available. I confirmed that 6:00 worked for me, but they repeated multiple times that they close at 7 and that 6:00 was the only time available. Each time I confirmed that 6:00 was fine. At this point I started to get agitated that I had to repeat myself 3 times just to confirm the time. They then asked for a phone number to confirm the appointment. I said that if they could see the number I was calling from, that number was fine to use. After a moment of silence, instead of responding normally, the person suddenly yelled "HELLOOOO?" into the phone. I explained that I thought they might already have my number, but I could provide it if needed. At that point, the interaction had been so uncomfortable and unprofessional that I decided I didn't feel comfortable getting my haircut there and declined the appointment.
