Good for private home health care as well as Medicaid clients. Call and give them a chance.

My husband fractured his knee requiring surgery and no weight bearing for 3 months. While in the…read morehospital, he also developed 2 pressure ulcers on his buttocks making it extremely painful to sit. He was homebound as he could only "hop" about 6 steps on a walker and otherwise, was confined to bed or a wheelchair. The Rehab hospital we were in arranged Adoration Home Health to provide home therapy. They intended for him to have PT/OT and a home health aide to assist with his bath. The DPT that did his assessment was fine except, we needed a bariatric walker. I knew I could get one from Amazon but spoke to the therapist first as we needed one that day. He was using a walker that was too small and unsafe for a man his size. I was left with the impression that the therapist could get this to us that day. When 5P rolled around and no walker, I texted him to inquire. He advised he would check with the office the next day and then sent a picture of the walker from Amazon that I already knew I could order. The only thing that stopped me was his statement that he could get one. I went on Amazon and ordered the proper walker for my husband. It would take 2 more days to receive. A couple of days later, the PTA came to see my husband. While here, I showed him what was most important to us and that was for my husband to be able to get in our bathroom to the shower with the walker. Later the PTA said he wasn't going to have my husband hopping around on one leg and instead would show him the exercises he was to do on his own. Straight leg raises, heel slides and pushing his knee down into the chair. I am a retired RN who had run an onsite clinic for a large production plant caring for work related injuries as well as had worked for a local Orthopedist. I am more than capable of handling getting my husband to do those exercises. What I need PT for is to do PHYSICAL therapy with him to ensure he builds his muscles up and endurance to be able to get to the shower as well as to teach him how to get into my truck which will allow us to take him to the doctors and outpatient therapy. My husband has an appt for routine lab work in a few days which we will not be able to get him to the clinic for. Our provider was sending an order to Adoration to get a nurse to draw his blood. I requested she include instructions to provide a written copy of lab results to us as well as her. Since home health is not part of MMC, they do not take the bloodwork to that office where reports are readily available to the patient. Adoration office said that they could not do that as they have to have a signed Medical Record Release form. Now this is funny...my husband has a right to the information and he is mentally cognizant and sitting right here in the house we're asking for a copy to be provided to but I advised her the nurse could bring that form when she comes to draw the blood and my husband would sign it. She then states it could take a week or more for us to get the results so it would probably be better for us to get it from the doctor's office. Now that would mean I would have to leave my husband at home alone and drive 30 minutes each way to pick up a report because it would not be part of their online system. How crazy is that when they can just bring it on a future visit. It is NOT against HIPPA to provide any medical record to the patient themselves. Before I agreed to having the Shelbyville office provide services, I spoke to their manager and said that there was only 1 way we would do that and that would be if we had problems, they would transfer his care to Murfreesboro office so today, I have asked them to do that. Now I am hearing, "Well I don't know if they have anyone who would be willing to come out your way". Murfreesboro is exactly the same distance to our home as Shelbyville is so what is the problem. We are the customer right? I personally feel that there is no decent medical care available any where any more. He shouldn't have pressure ulcers but the hospital nurses in Murfreesboro never turned him. He should be receiving actual physical therapy from the therapist, not simply home exercise instruction. Those exercises are what you do between the actual therapy visits with therapy provided a the visit. Promises made when trying to get your business should be honored by the company or never made.

I have been extremely pleased with the care I have received. My Therapist Lauren and Melissa have been very attentive, caring, and very good at motivating me to push beyond and get me walking again. We owe much Thanks to the Office Manager Edwina Swan for really listening to us and keeping her staffed trained in all aspects that is required for the job. My Fiance and I highly recommend Adoration Home Health of Winston Salem.
