I did have an issue with my application where my credit score was lower than their minimum and I asked if there was anything they could do because I was just in love with the townhouse they had listed. I spoke with Heather and she told me she would call the owners to see what she could do and was very understanding of our situation. She called me back very quickly and said that if we paid a larger deposit, they would approve our application. I accepted the conditions and put my deposit down that day. When I went to go look at the townhouse it was in far better condition than I had anticipated. I feel like I got the deal of a lifetime with the quality of home for the price I will be paying. I have not once encountered a rude employee and have been working closely with both Heather and John. From day one they were both beyond helpful and very understanding of my situation. From my experience so far, I would recommend them to anyone. I have already recommended them to some of my friends looking for homes in the Blue Springs area. I went to Astro Realty on 1/29 after ordering some moving boxes online through UHaul. I arrived…read morethere at about 4:30, but the place was closed. The sign on the door had the hours listed as 9-1, M-F. What business is open from only 9-1? Anyway, I made arrangements with my boss to leave work today to go pick up my boxes. When I arrived there, I was "greeted" by a surly man at the front desk. When I told him that I was there to pick up a box order, he said that wasn't possible. I retrieved my phone to give him the order number that had been emailed to me as a confirmation. He then proceeded to tell me that he would not honor the pricing quoted on the website because he "can't lose money" on boxes. He has to buy them, after all. He continued to argue with me and tell me that they aren't a "center"... as if I'd know what that means. When I asked why UHaul would quote the pricing and inventory as available in his store, he said that he doesn't control UHaul's website or the information provided on it. He did not attempt to assist me in any way. Another man walked up and told him to look up my order, but they could not find it. Finally, frustrated, I left and called customer service at UHaul. Of course, every UHaul is independently owned, and so UHaul, as the parent company, really has no recourse or ability to make things right. I insisted that they cancel my entire order and send me a confirmation. I'm so angry, I could spit. I still have no boxes and am moving this weekend. Now, while this experience has nothing to do with the realty skills of this office, I can't imagine why anyone would ever want to deal with this surly, unhappy, horrible old man. Perhaps the other guy is more pleasant... he seemed somewhat willing to help... but the guy sitting at the front desk needs a serious course in Service Excellence and a major attitude adjustment. My apartment is in an older building, but is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. It's in a great neighborhood (Volker), and just a few blocks from lots of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. And the best part -- it's not costing me an arm and a leg to live here! Anyone who's renting in KC has experienced prices sky-rocketing in recent years. I have been extremely disappointed with my experience with Ellis Real Estate, particularly with how…read morean ongoing HVAC issue in my apartment has been handled. I moved into my apartment in May and immediately noticed that the back bedroom was significantly warmer than the rest of the apartment and had little to no airflow from the central AC. Since then, I have submitted five maintenance requests and had multiple visits from maintenance and an HVAC contractor. The bedroom vent was eventually confirmed to be disconnected from the ductwork and was finally repaired in August, but the larger HVAC problem remains unresolved. Even after the vent was repaired, my AC has run continuously for more than 24 hours at times and has been unable to maintain 72 degrees in the apartment. During hot weather, the temperature has reached approximately 77-78 degrees inside, despite the system running constantly. My projected electric bill has also approached $300 for a roughly 1,200-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment. What has been most frustrating is the lack of communication and follow-through. Multiple maintenance requests were marked as completed even though the underlying problem continued. I have repeatedly contacted management, and after being told I would receive an update and repair timeline, I had to follow up again when no response came. Even after finally repairing the bedroom vent, management responded as though the HVAC issue had been resolved, despite the fact that I have repeatedly explained that the central AC itself is still unable to adequately cool the apartment. I understand that HVAC repairs can take time, especially during hot weather. What I find unacceptable is having to repeatedly ask for updates and explain that the same problem is still occurring without receiving a clear plan to address it. I have tried to be patient and work with management throughout this process, but after months of dealing with this issue, I am extremely frustrated with how it has been handled.
