Two years ago we lost our beloved yellow lab of 15 years. My heart was so broken, my husband immediately was in search of a new puppy to love to pieces all over again. While I would recommend at least six months between grieving and taking on the work of a new puppy - we dove right in. We picked up our new puppy at nine weeks and he has been the best boy. This breeder told us her labs were more on the calmer side of labs, she wasn't kidding! Our first lab was hell on wheels for a good 9 years. Our Rocky is so chill, we still can't believe how easy going he is. He is kinda an "old soul" with an occasional zoomies moment here and there. He is such a sweetheart. We got our beautiful new lab pup (Joy) in May and at 7 months she has been the best puppy we have every owned (she is our 5th lab)! She is so smart, has been super easy to train, is confident yet so sweet with our 8 year old female lab. Our past couple of labs have come from a breeder in the Prunedale, CA area. Unfortunately they both had various issues...one we had to re-home due to resource guarding issues, and our current one has had to have ACL surgery in both knees. Although she has been sweet, she has been a money pit. I concluded I could not get another lab from that breeder. We could not have found a better pup than Joy. She is beautiful, super smart, and has not had any medical issues. No ear infections, skin irritations, nothing! She is also very well socialize and not as nervous as our other Lab. read more

This is a cautionary review based on our recent experience with Labs to Love. Two years ago we purchased two of Ms. Underhill's puppies (one female and one male) from different litters with about two-months' age separation. At age 6 months, the male exhibited lameness, subsequently diagnosed as hereditary elbow dysplasia. Recently, our female began favoring and crow-hopping on her left hind leg. X-rays confirmed a hereditary condition called patellar luxation, a dislocation of the knee cap from the femur. Our UC Davis-trained surgeon performed very expensive orthopedic surgery, with no assurance of success. This is not what we would have imagined happening to two AKC-registered Labs. These are sweet dogs, but this situation begs some obvious questions. Is this a coincidence, bad luck or suspect breeding? For those of you considering purchasing a puppy from Ms. Underhill, do you due diligence. Get the specifics on lineage, the current status of the puppy's parents (active or retired), etc. Make an informed decision based on the best information you can gather. I've dealt with breeders many times before. But Sandy at Labs to Love was by far the best. She is very professional and had all the puppy's history and lineage - many of which were show dogs. The price may seem a little high, but compared to my other experiences in the past, she is well worth it. She even provided all the dog's DNA test results for about 250 dog issues... all of which came back clear or normal. The puppy also came with all its AKC papers that day... and I was followed up with a lot of other documents from American Kennel Club. I'm not sure how any breeder can be any more professional that Sandy at Labs to Love was. She was prompt and efficient in every way and it showed in every way. I would highly highly highly recommend. I've only had my pup for 1 week, but I am confident (because of the breeders reputation and all the dog DNA tests) that it will grow up as health as any dog. read more

We bought a purebred puppy 10 years ago and still have him. He is a great dog and we love him very much. However are second experience buying a puppy was not so gratifying. The puppy bit one of us breaking the skin on both arms hands and face. We thought this was very strange behavior, and she looked more like dwarf. She did not even resemble a stocky english lab. Because of the biting and strange behavior we forced to remove her. We are just sick about the whole experience. Fortunately , for her she walked away with over three thousand dollars of our money. And the money it cost to fly from North Carolina round trip plus pet fee hotel, rental car. Unfortunately for her this is not over yet. I did not rate this business 5 stars read more

We love our lab who is now almost 5. He is handsome, gentle,sweet, extremely mellow, quiet and, actually, kind of lazy- like an old bear. He is our 3rd lab and our 10th dog. He is/was very easy to train (he does his business where instructed, he gets the newspaper each morning, etc.). He has issues with his ears and is often in need of attention from his vet. Sandy is a caring and attentive breeder with terrific communication with the new owners. We started communicating with her last December while considering a new puppy for our kids. Though we wanted to wait until springtime, she was amazing with the abundance of information, photos, and general news she sent our way. She was a responsible and fair person to do business with as well. As with most breeders, our pick was dependent upon when we put down a deposit, but she assured us that if we did not find a puppy we liked (as if!) then she would refund our deposit! The worst part of the whole process was making a choice between all of the wonderful puppies. All of her puppies come with multiple guarantees, shots, microchips and help from Sandy. Not only have we been blessed with a wonderful, beautiful white lab puppy (we brought him home in June), but I have had the pleasure of recommending her to two friends, who also now have a wonderful, loving, gorgeous white lab in their homes.
