Scheduled Labor Muscles for our house move March 11, 2023. They showed up on time with 4 guys in crew. The (very polite) guys worked hard and were quite efficient loading the rented U-Haul truck. Took them about 6 hours to move the whole house. I'd give them more than 3 stars if it wasn't for some quirks along the way... 1. A rented U-Haul truck is not the sign of a licensed PA mover (see PUC's website) https://www.puc.pa.gov/ 2. All legit movers must have PA license and insurance, if they don't have it, don't use them (they are called "gypsy movers") 3. Don't use anyone who demands money upfront... Another warning flag. Labor Muscles required me to pay 50% down upfront, then charged me the other 50% PLUS $900 extra I didn't agree to! Rather than endure a legal issue we just paid Steve Pentz, the owner... and walked away. read more

I had Labor Muscles scheduled to help my son move into a 2nd floor apartment this past weekend. I reached out and scheduled with Steve early in the week. I explained that we were moving my son from a bi-level house to a second floor apartment and I am not physically fit enough to really be of any assistance with the heavy furniture that he has. He advised that he would be available for 8 or 9 AM and gave me a verbal proposal for 3 movers, asked for the old address and the new address and an email address. He said he would said an invoice and I would need to give a 50% deposit and the rest would be payable on moving day. No problem, except by Thursday I had never received the invoice. I reached out and he explained that I hadn't provided my email address, but he would send it as soon as I did. My mistake, and I sent it right away. I also asked him for pricing to include a truck, which he verbally provided. I never did get the invoice, so I texted him and advised that at this late date, and with his agreement, I would just pay cash on moving day, which he agreed too. 6AM on moving day I got a text from Steve asking for confirmation that we were still on. I advised that we were. He explained that he was down a truck and with that he would be down a mover, so they would be able to deal with that, but he was dropping his charge accordingly, which I appreciated. 8:30-8:45 rolls around and still no movers. I reach out to Steve and he advises that he won't be there until 10 AM, as he had to get the truck. I accepted this change, but advised that doing the move later would just be hotter (it was unusually hot and humid this past Saturday). He understood, but since I was intent on sticking to the 3 hour window, he did not feel it was going to be a real issue. Then at 8:54 I got a call from Steve cancelling all together as now his second truck broke down. I'm not sure why he wouldn't chose to rent a Uhaul in order to keep his scheduled work, in lieu of cancelling last minute on a customer. I personally find it hard to believe that a mover had trouble with two (2) separate moving trucks in their fleet, and am inclined to think that he decided he didn't want to be bothered. I chose Labor Muscles because of their numerous 5 star reviews, but I am sorry that I did. They were not dependable for me. This could have been an anomoly for this business, but if you absolutely need to know you have a mover that will show, you should keep looking. Luckily, my son had a friend come in from New Jersey (3 hours away) and they were able to get the heavy furniture moved. read more

These guys are fantastic! As a result of the COVID19 pandemic, my daughter was given only a few days to move out of her campus apartment at Bucknell. Since we live in California, I worked with Steve and he was incredibly helpful working out the details and packing up her stuff and shipping it to us. The prices were reasonable, they were very careful in making sure that they packed exactly the right things (calling my daughter to confirm when they had questions), and they did a very careful job packing all of the stuff in boxes. I cannot recommend this company enough. At 4 months pregnant, I first tried to move a bunch of stuff with my husband, but it was taking more of a toll on me than I had hoped (I guess I was overly optimistic!!) We called Steve pretty last minute and he was able to accommodate our move, no problem. He showed up exactly on time, with an extra crew member (3 guys instead of 2), and moved us from door to door in under three hours. He did that even though we asked them to move a LOT more stuff than we had originally told them. They did not complain and still got it all done and didn't even charge us extra (I felt bad so I tried to tip generously!!!). You should also know that Steve is an all-around handy man. Couch not fitting through the door? No problem, he can remove the door and put it back on, better than it was before. Need help disassembling your Ikea bed for the 20th time? No problem, he did that (and more) with no instructions and no extra charge. As of right now, you need to rent your own truck, but other than that, they are an all-service, skilled and THOUGHTFUL crew. They treated our junky furniture like it was priceless art, and I couldn't stop marveling at the spatial skills they used to pack that truck so tightly, carefully, and securely. Excellent moving service! My boyfriend and I moved houses and needed help loading and unloading a U-haul truck. It was very easy and quick to schedule, and the online payment system was very convenient. I received an invoice well before the move in date with the estimated cost and policies for additional time, so there was no confusion on price. This company did not complete the assembly of my bed, as promised. In fact, they couldn't even figure out how to get it up the steps. I had to hire someone else to get my bed upstairs and assemble it because these "professional movers" were not able to figure it out. I asked for a refund or partial refund of the asembly fee on October 8, 2019 and was told by the owner, Steve, that he would send it to me within 7 days. It's now December 19th and no refund. One of the movers, while nice, smelled like he had a bowel movement in his pants. They were late arriving and it took way longer than the estimated timeframe. Anyone writing a good review must be a friend of the family or another possibility is the reviews are old and the company has since gone down hill. I wouldn't be writing this review if Steve had just kept his word. Lying to customers is not a good business practice. Shame on you Steve! read more
