I said "Excuse me, can someone help me?" multiple times and was completely ignored. Rude and unprofessional. Today, I came back for a blood test required to continue my PrEP prescription through Mistr. One of the lab techs--an older, light-skinned woman--acted like she couldn't help me because I supposedly had a balance. That's absurd--I was told by my pharmacist at Cone Health that everything was covered when I was receiving PrEP injections from them. Clearly, that was a lie. What makes it worse is that I had a test done at Quest just a few weeks ago for life insurance, and that tech was able to bypass the balance. Same with my last PrEP test 2-3 months ago--there was still a balance, but the lab tech had no issue helping me. So it really felt like she just didn't want to do her job. To top it off, my appointment was at 11:40 AM--close to their lunch break--so it felt like they were rushing me out of there. I told her I'm broke, homeless, living in my car, and I don't have $194.30 to pay. She didn't care. Just kept saying, "It won't let me bypass it," which I know is BS. I pray she never ends up down bad like I am now, because maybe then she'd understand what it's like to need compassion. She was more focused on the money than helping someone who needs medical care. These money-hungry companies have no heart. Now I have to contact Mistr and let them know I couldn't get my bloodwork done. Absolutely ridiculous.

From the moment I walked in, everyone treated me with kindness and respect. The young ladies at the front desk were so patient, and the medical staff actually listened instead of rushing me out the door. The provider explained everything in plain English, and I left feeling much better than when I came in. It's hard to find people who genuinely care these days, but this urgent care reminded me that good customer service still exists. Taken relatively quickly, but unfortunately by a young woman who was not having the greatest day…read moreand it showed in her lack of compassion and abrupt manner when taking my health history and gathering info. No one wants to have to go to urgent care. Atrium should reiterate to staff members that they should be more respectful of their patients who are there because of a physical issue that's already concerning. On top of that she asked me a question that was not only irrelevant but highly questionable given the situation I was there for. Further, after leaving the room she returned a few minutes later asking in a very disrespectful manner why I didn't tell her I was on 4 other medications that I have never been on or haven't required since dental surgery 7 years ago. Huh? I came to UC because I had an infected cut. The NP said she thought it was a bruise. She was incorrect, but at least she was kind and respectful during our 5 minutes in contrast to the woman who took my vitals. Also, did not receive discharge instructions which resulted in me having to call back a day later to get more information. The woman who took the call thought she put me on hold, but she didn't and I overheard her talking about me like I was a simpleton. I guess compassion, caring and respect goes out the window after a few dozen patients. It's unfortunate that this is what health"care" has come to.

Dr Shamly Dhiman performed surgery on my daughter's face for a basal cell carcinoma. We were not…read moreable to use a dermatologist because my daughter is mentally handicapped and needed to be put under for the procedure. The dermatologist said that I would need a general surgeon to do surgery and referred us to Surgical Specialists of Charlotte. I would not recommend Dr. Dhiman for surgery on the face. The area that was removed was under her right eye. Dr. Dhiman only used 4 surface level stitches to close the incision. There were no stitches used that dissolved in order to keep the incision from coming apart. When the stitches were removed a week after the surgery, the incision completely opened up leaving an ugly hole in her face. The after care instructions were not correct for surgery on the face. She told me just to use iodine and keep it dry. The dermatologist told me to use Vaseline to keep it moist. The iodine burned so badly because it was an open wound. I was only able to use it once. I'm not sure why her instructions were completely different from what information that I was told by others who had had the same surgery and by the dermatologist. There was no follow up appointment even though the incision opened up. I asked if they wanted me to bring her in and they said it wasn't necessary. Her primary care physician is the one who removed the stitches due to the bad weather when it snowed. We couldn't get to the office due to the weather and the weekend. We didn't want to wait until the next week because the longer the stitches stay in the face the more scarring there can be. As of now, the scar on her face is very obvious. The dermatologist said that she would most likely need plastic surgery in order to smooth it out. Given that she would have to be put under for that, we won't be having that done. Dr. Dhiman was a nice lady and she was very kind at the pre op appointments. I just would not recommend her for this type of surgery. Also, while she was under anesthesia, they drew blood to run some tests on her. Whoever did the blood draw, stuck her arm and hand five times and left her arm badly bruised. That took about weeks before the pain in her arm was better. I know that it wasn't a problem with her veins because I saw them put the IV in her other arm with no issues before the surgery.
