Service was attentive, place is spotless, jazz music playing...really an upscale Denny's that needs to try it's own food once in awhile to see what is hitting customers plates. Prices would have been fine if my breakfast had been edible. p.s. I too had a coffee cup with crack all the way through it....didn't leak but it makes one nervous too early in the morning. p.p.s. What is with the taking names at the front counter before being seated? Seems overkill for a breakfast spot. Too much to think about before first cracked cup of coffee.

They close at 2 PM. While there is limited parking, it is worth coming to even if you have to walk a ways. They have a great selection of all the traditional Mexican and American style breakfast and brunch foods. There is something for everybody from decadent waffles, crêpes and hotcakes, to healthier choices like eggs however you want them, omelettes, chilaquiles, fruit, breads, juices, etc. There are some vegetarian and even vegan options. The atmosphere was very nice. You can choose to dine outside or inside. It can get a little loud as this place is quite popular. Our server was very attentive and friendly. My food was delicious, and everyone else at my table seemed very happy and satisfied. They have American style coffee, a medium roast, and they offered to bring liquid cream to the table. (Otherwise they have powdered coffee mate). Everything was very clean and pleasant including the bathrooms. If given the chance I would definitely return. I really enjoyed it and believe you will too.

So, I have been trying to get in here during their open hours but who would have thought that a…read morecoffee shop called 5pm doesn't open until 5pm. lol I think that I have had to adjust the scale that I use to evaluate a good cup of coffee because I have found so many excellent coffee shops in Guadalajara. Café 5pm really stands out as one of the best. They don't need to open up at 5am and cater to the caffeine junkies like a starbucks does because they are selling flavor and experience. It more akin to the slow-foods movement that appreciates the moment and the experience than just a buzz in a to-go cup. These guys make a mean espresso and serve it with a water chaser. The beans are roasted really well and you get to taste the coffee. I got to try beans from Veracruz and Nayarit, and I can't wait to go back to try the beans that were recently roasted. It reminds me more of a bar than a coffee shop. There is a really cool patio and lounge that was packed both times I was there. From the looks of it, they are set up to handle very large volumes of customers. As you walk in the building there is a retail outlet with crazy selection of machines for making coffee. However you want to brew your coffee these guys are going to show you the correct way to maximize your enjoyment. If you are a discerning coffee enthusiast then you have to bookmark this place and make the trip. Just remember that they don't open up until 5pm.
