We ordered a Margherita pizza, eggplant appetizer, and a salad. All 3 dishes were rich in flavor especially the eggplant - it reminded me of a lasagna. Service was also good. Initially we were only going to order a salad and pizza for 4 of us but the waiter suggested we order one more item because we would love the food. He wasn't wrong. This spot is also great because you have the option of sitting indoors with an outdoor setting. So it's the best of both worlds.

The chef (Jean-Philippe) is French and prepares some mean main courses with fresh house-made pasta (I beg you, try the Ravioli alla Crema or the Lasagna and weep) or meat (try the Filetto di Manzo with Gorgonzola) while the owner & pizzaiolo master (Pino) and the pizzaiolo (Mario) blows your mind with either traditional or creative takes on the Napolitan pizza. Try your best to keep some space for dessert. The Lemon Meringue pie is one of the best I've ever had (not too bitter, very different from a Key Lime). The Panna Cotta with berries is even better. If you like Cannoli, try it out too, while it's not really my thing I've heard great things from amateurs. Don't hurry and grab a Martini Bianco on ice to start the meal, they'll bring you Olives and delicious house made chips so you can procrastinate on what to eat. And don't you dare eat your pasta without sprinkling an avalanche of (real) Parmesan on them.

To out it in context there was a group of 16 of us and we went in at around 1pm - the whole place was packed but the waitress speedily made room for us and allowed us to dine in two separate groups. The decor was chic with a light dash of hipster. The staff were excellent - it couldn't have been easy trying being French trying to translate Northern Irish accents speaking in broken Italian but they managed well. As for the food, I had the Fromage Calzone which was nothing short of sensational. The flavours were excellent and it was cooked to perfection. The whole vibe of Maria Luisa was great, we never felt rushed at any point and we ended up staying for a few beers in the outside seating area! Top notch!

Yes, they have really good pizza. I had some, once. It was delicious. Everyone else who eats here…read moresays it's amazing. They also have a huge variety of Italian wines, at good prices. Get here early or try to get a reservation. It's always full, and you will have to wait. Gluten-free notes: Sorry, you can't eat the pizza, and you will have to watch everyone else eat pizza. Boo to that. But they do have several huge and tasty Italian salads that you can have. My favorite one (I forget the name) has mozzarella, ham, and a bunch of delicious veggies. They have spicy olive oil on the tables. Drizzle some over your salad, and you'll actually want to come back to a pizza restaurant for salad. Counterintuitive, perhaps. They usually have at least one gluten-free dessert, such as panna cotta.
