We come here almost every single year. It always seems to give you that little boost of Christmas Spirit and the true meaning of Christmas. The lights are always so beautiful and peaceful. They have several stands outdoor as well as indoors with hot cocoa, hot cider, fried dough and so much more, along with a cafeteria too. They have a section with nativity sets from around the world and a really nice gift shop too. Lots to see.

If in a 20 mile radius and you celebrate Christmas, this is a must visit. Beautiful lights and grounds. Easy to find with free parking. A few rides for the kids and places to stay warm inside.

It's a tradition to always come here every year before Christmas. It probably takes around two hours to walk around and check out everything. The lights are always remarkably beautiful. It truly feels like the holidays when I arrive. They have gift shops and sometimes live music playing inside one of the buildings. Clopper the donkey is always friendly and outside to visit. The candle room is meant to represent the fallen but not forgotten. This year one was lit in honor of my mother. Lastly, when coming here, remember to dress warm!

What a site!!! Such holiday spirit!! I wasn't expecting the festival of lights. It was sooo beautiful! !! Great for the whole family! The carousel was so fun & only $3 to ride. We enjoyed hot cider as we walked around to look at all the lights.

Growing up in the greater Boston area i never knew about La Salette until my move to the greater Providence area. I almost feel a little cheated. This one stop Christmas light shop (and religious shrine) definitely beats driving through the Ritzy neighborhoods looking at scattered houses covered in lights in the back of my parent's Buick Regal. I'm the first to admit that I'm more spiritual than religious (lets hope my very catholic grandmother isn't reading this or I'll have to do the Rosary...) but La Salette is beautiful and can charm even a nonbeliever. The lights, the nativity scene, and the natural beauty of the La Salette campus you can't go wrong here. I think it's great they actually incorporate stories in cartoonesque form so kids can understand how Christmas came about and that it's more than harassing their parents for an iPad. The only reason this review is lacking a star is because I agree with Jason N. I think having a tractor pull is not only dangerous but a little obnoxious. The diesel smell that lingers as it passes isn't my favorite. Some parts of the property are a little uneven which gives it the perfect opportunity for a child or adult to trip, fall, and end up under the tractor. I will say the hot chocolate is out of this world! If you go definitely indulge yourself in a cup! You will most definitely not be disappointed!!

Haven't been in a long time but my memories were not wrong! Started with Fr. Pat's singing, then Mass. After that the lights! Just as beautiful as I had remembered. The pictures don't reflect the actual scene but you get the idea. Just go for the experience!

Love it here, their Christmas light display is STUNNING! Been here a few times for the holidays and they have such beautiful light display,There is so much to see would suggest picking a night that isn't too cold so you can enjoy the views. Also, took my puppy who loved exploring as well, just couldn't go into the inside displays. Overall, would definitely recommend checking it out for the holidays.

Every Christmas season there are a few places we like to visit to get into the spirit and to stay mindful of why we are celebrating this special day. La Salette Shrine is at the top of our list and it have become a special stop for my family and I. What we enjoy the most about this shrine is the fact that they do such a great job of decorating for Christmas and they don't charge for entry. A few of the other stops we make during Christmas charge to see the decorations which is annoying because they are usually overpriced. The lights here are in incredible, but our favorite part are all the nativity scenes they have on display. We love looking at the way each nation represents their nativity, and of course I love seeing the ones from Portugal. Overall, this is a great seasonal stop, but it is also a great place to visit during the year if you are hoping to strengthen your spirituality.

This is a yearly routine for my family! Our two girls love to come watch the lights while sipping on hot chocolate! The lights are AMAZING! Something different every year! I do advise you to dress warm and throw on an extra layer! Kids love that at the end of our walk we always go to the rides and the fried dough they have! Great Family spot and very friend friendly! They have a lovely gift shop too , something for everyone! Parking is right there and just the perfect location!

Ask the Community - La Salette Shrine

Can we take our dog to the shrine?

yes you can bring a dog; just be respectful and pick up after him

I'd like to park in the nearby lot. How early should I go to make it in time to park and watch the lights come on?

We got there at 7:15 and the time flew by we would recommend getting there earlier 5:30 6:00 would give you enough time to take in everything

The Dighton Arts Festival is an annual event, in its eleventh year at the time of this review,…read moresponsored by the Dighton Lions Club. It is held the first Sunday in November at the Araujo Farms and Greenhouses in Dighton, MA. Dighton... Dighton... Dighton According to the website, their mission is a wholesome one... "to provide a place where local and regional artists and crafters can display and sell their work in a family-oriented environment that encourages artists and crafters of all ages and promotes interest in the arts in our community." I really couldn't sum it up better myself. Araujo Farms is a unique environment to hold this festival. Interconnected greenhouses provide shelter for a plethora of artists and crafters. This year there was a wide variety of exhibitors selling jewelry, photographs, flags, soaps, floral arrangements, hats, quilts, candles, jams, sea glass, wooden toys, porcelain, woodburnings, embroidery, and so much more!! There were beer and wine tastings, a raffle, a food vendor, children's game/crafting areas, tractor and truck exhibits, music, and theater. The Dighton-Rehoboth Marching Band, Elementary School Chorus, and Middle School Flute Ensemble all played. I ran into a number of familiar faces... which is easy to do when it comes to town events such as this. Teachers, friends, family. The reason this wasn't a five star event? The lot at the farms fills up fast so there is free parking at the Auto Auction with shuttle service to the festival grounds. In past years, school buses accomplished this. I was disappointed this year in the length of the wait to jump in the small shuttle vans that were provided. One of my friends that met me there said she almost left because the line for the shuttle was so horrendously long when she arrived. They also need better ventilation in the grill area. I stepped into that particular greenhouse to be met with a noticeable smoky haze. To top it off... they ran out of hamburgers in the seemingly early afternoon. I settled for a hotdog instead. Parents of children participating in the staged events seemed lost and perturbed by the bottlenecks that some of the walkways through the greenhouses created. Overall it is a wonderful event and one worth visiting... just some kinks to work out for their coming twelfth year.

We had never been to anything like this or even really heard that much about it so we were interested to see what it was. WaterFire started about 30 years ago as an art installation that was meant to bring more people to the area and it definitely works. They light the braziers along the rivers, pipe beautiful music through the air and have volunteers on boats going from spot to spot, tending the flames and refilling the wood. There are tons of people there. Just walking and enjoying being outside and being together. The vibe is so relaxed and so peaceful but yet busy and exciting at the same time. It's kind of hard to describe unless you see it for yourself. We headed out around dusk when there was still light in the sky and it was a little chilly but I soon forgot about that. Words can't really express how you're just sort of drawn into the piece and beauty of this whole thing. I feel like this review can't even do it justice. We walked around for over an hour but our dog did start to get cold even though we had her in her jacket, so we headed back to where we were staying for a little while. Once it was dark and we were all warmed up, we headed out again because it was just so enjoyable to be there that we really wanted to come back. The second time we wandered through the street fair area and looked at some of the tables and street vendors. I got a really cool ring that was made out of a an old ornate spoon. There were also food vendors but everything was pretty busy so we ended up getting food on the way back to our hotel. There were families and groups of friends and couples, all just soaking in the magic and ambiance and ultimately we drifted back towards the water again because that is where the real magic is. We sat for a long time watching people float by in gondolas and watching the volunteers slowly push the boats through the canals, adding wood to the flames causing them to rise up. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood and strangers were chatting with each other. There was a real sense of community and peace. This was honestly one of the most romantic evenings I've had with my husband in a long time as well. We nuzzled noses and shared a few kisses to the music and the flame. If you are anywhere near Providence during WaterFire, don't even think about it just go. It's totally free! You don't need tickets or even to plan really. You can just enjoy the fire light and the music and being together in a beautiful place. It's absolutely unforgettable.

One of the Chinese dragon boats from the Pawtucket Dragon Races made an appearance as well. The event was very well attended, with many areas of the Riverwalk at capacity during peak times.
