Dude! La Pradera is a staple carniceria here in El Monte. They have high quality cuts of meats. Our go to is the marinated chicken breast or leg and the marinated ranchera. The flavor is great. They also sell chicharones and costillitas! They are to die for. Their salsas aren't that big of a deal but if you need a quick one I would go with the chipotle. The other marinaded meats I like are adobada and El pastor. The flavors from here dont compare to those from other places. Pradera sells everything for your typical bbq or taquiza. read more

Terrible service. I came rushing here because I saw they were open according to their yelp. There were still people inside shopping at 6:15pm and the guy was not polite and shut the door while I was talking. I get the handmade signs that now have their updated hours but for patrons that are going based off of your yelp page that have not visited before, that isn't going to work very well. read more

This is truly a hidden gem in El Monte that I don't even know where to begin this review at because you can tell they care about the quality and flavor of the various items they carry. So I'll start with the reason as to why I am there so often. One word... carnitas! Oh you heard right. I can buy a pound of delicious carnitas for $10! The trick is to buy them first thing in the morning because they are just perfect in every way. The flavor of delicious saltiness and crispy meat that pulls apart so flavorful. And yes you should really get a pound or two because it's addicting and you will not stop picking at it. Speaking from experience I will say that I have high standards since I use to frequent La Moderna Bakery in Whittier and I can easily admit that these are just as good if not better! They sell guacamole and it is sooo good as well as other salsas. A container of it runs less that $5! For a container of guacamole! I also can't tell you how great the meats are there as well. Carne asada amazing! I usually buy chicken fajitas on a regular basis and my kids love it. I really can't say enough amazing things about this place. Support your local carnicería and try this place. It's never been crazy busy when I've gone so that's a plus these days. Oh and if you buy produce or salsas and need a produce bag for it they have a wet towel in the center for you to wet your finger tips to open the bag instead of using your fingers. I use to get my carne asada meat at Super A and boy was I missing out! Today I went to buy 1 and 1/2 lbs of Carne Asada (Ranchero) meat and had to go back to get 2 more pounds! The man behind the counter recognized me instantly, probably because I was the only asian customer! Hahaha I have tried taco meat at different markets and none are as flavorful as La Pradera's! The service is pretty good, when I walked in the man behind the meats asked if I needed any help. I asked him for some Carne Asada meat because I did not see a sign that labeled it and he nicely helped me out.The meat was on the expensive side about $6.00/lb, but well worth it! This shops is also convenient because it had fresh produce such as onions and cilantro, an assortment of salsas to accompany your tacos, and a great selection of tortillas! I have been to other meat markets where all the tortilla was expired and the produce were close to rotten. If you are in the area give this place a try ! (: read more

I was introduced to their meat market more than 10 years ago by a friend. I have to say that their marinated chicken is the best once you grill it at home. Their chicken is the major reason why people come to this store. The butchers have told me that people come from cities as far away as Phoenix just for it and take home about 100 lbs. Wow, this place has been really good to us,,,I was a kid when Mom used to take me here, with the original owners "Daniel" I think was the name of one of them,,well he move on to open another place, and this one stayed the same,,,so make it short I been going there for about or over 30 years if not mistaken,,,I was in El Monte High School class of 86" and I moved to Ontario and still go there as needed,,,kids live in El Monte, so when ever they visit they know better to bring some of their bbq chicken, one of the butchers I believe is still there from day one, they always have good avocados too, carnitas, chicharones, costillas, and have to try their dry chorizo....place is great and their T-bone steaks are delicious too. never had any problem or any issues with this place, but for sure if there was or is anything wrong, they will make it right, I bet they will. read more

Nope. They like to fool you! My father came in and bought "Lomo," and what they did is that they substituted other flat cuts of cheaper meat mixed along with the Lomo. So essentially you get 90% of what he ordered and 10% of a cheaper cut all for the same price. You can't fool the housewives, especially since they are the ones that know the meat!!! My father went in to complain and the butcher himself said he gave him another cut... Then why do it? Sorry guys... You lost us as customers. This places like the Costco of Mexican marinated meats. They go thru Huge containers of meat everyday so you are sure to get fresh meat because of the high turnover. This place is like a mini produce/meat market. Very clean. Prices are probably about 25percent higher than the regular Mexican Markets but it's definitely higher quality. Our favorites here are definitely the marinated chicken and the steak ranchero (carne asada preparado). Prob the best marinated chicken recipe. And I grew up in a pre dominately Hispanic neighborhood and have tried more than a dozen markets before this is by far the freshest and tastiest meat for our bbqs.
