Cultural and/or language barriers that strain communication (seriously?!!). And a general, inefficient, unorganized, indifferent or know-it-all attitude that prohibits them from actually listening to the patient! Part of the problem might be a staff that's too young, and/or a level of professionalism within the foreign-born staff that is subpar compared to U.S. standards. AVOID this place if possible.

My mother moved to Luxe Senior Living in 2023. The care she received was MUCH better back then…read more Over 3 years, the management declined significantly. The best aides and nurses slowly left and it became a revolving door. The food was and still is (as of 2026) microwaved salty slop and horrendous. I do not blame the workers. I became friendly with one Aide who expressed dismay at how the management treated them. The hallways were smelly and neglected, the rugs started to get filthy and the walls were all banged up. My mom did not require excessive care, but if she started to, I would have moved her out of there (she passed away recently). I would not trust this place to care for someone with a lot of medical needs. Our calls to the head nurse and General Manager were often ignored. So what started out as a great place for Mom, ended being a source of anxiety. Thankfully my brother lived 5 minutes away and checked on her often, or else I fear she wouldn't have gotten her medication and she would have skipped meals. If you are not living nearby to keep tabs on your loved one, dont bother moving them here.

This is only one example of the many, many ways Devonshire exploits the vulnerability of residents they see as wealthy enough to pay and too feeble to fight back. Terrible place...

My mother moved here a year ago. It went from an "active" independent living community to one where…read morethere are people coming in with dementia and the walkers are everywhere. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes the food is excellent, sometimes not so much. Sometimes the service is excellent sometimes not so much. On a recent visit I ate at the Cavendish twice. One night I got a slab of sea bass that had 2 grill marks and no seasoning served on a white plate with the potato. No garnish, no flavor. The other night I got duck with a tasty sauce and onions on top and it was excellent. This is a very expensive place which you have to pay for the meals whether you eat them or not even if you are out of town for an extended period. Residents have to make reservations for all the meals in person which is a hassle. There do not seem to be enough reservations for any of the special dinners. If you are new it is a tremendous amount of pressure to try to get into a table for dinner which you have to do every meal you eat. They talk about a friendship table once a week where anyone could come but it turned into the same people every week with no room for new people and there was some issue with that group so they stopped it. If you are thinking of coming here, or have a parent coming, eat here many times before you come. Come and socialize and make sure that you are comfortable here. Once you have pay your deposit, you have 4 months to back out. Moving is very difficult at any age, especially for those over 80 moving from a house. Once you are here, it is difficult to go somewhere else so I suggest you spend a lot of time here during those 4 months. I wish my mom would have. It seems a better social place for couples than it is single women. A big plus is that if you golf you can play at PGA National and use the health club. There is a league you can play in. The apartments are spacious with good storage as well. If you visit please ask about the concerns I have shared.

It is extremely easy to get to in Palm Beach Gardens less then a mile off the Florida turnpike. It is very easy to park once you come in to the development. It's an extremely nice lobby where you are immediately greeted. Check in was easy with their system and on our repeat visits were even easier as the computer remembers who you are via your phone number. My Aunt is there under the assisted living facilities and their level of personal care and monitoring of her is magnificent. Staff would be visiting her regularly While we were their sitting with her. She is currently eating meals in her room so they would deliver each meal on a very timely basis. The dining room is lovely and a wonderful environment for people to have their meals and socialize. There is plenty to do there, arts and crafts, game room, library, cinema and a very nice gym room with a lovely pool. The outside is equally as nice with plenty of comfortable sitting space. With a beautiful venue and high level of care, Discovery Village is a wonderful place to be. I also posted plenty of pictures of the facility. It's all big business. The food is not healthy and balanced as this type of business does not care about nutrition. Unfortunately I had to bring my loved one into this facility after a fall. He was unable to take…read morecare of himself and the insurance company was a managed care so dictated what treatment he was allowed. This facility took my loved one in under Medicaid Pending allowing us time to apply for Medicaid to cover some of the costs the insurance carrier would not cover. We are unable to pay anything. Then the insurance company decided that they were not going to pay anymore and that my loved would should be discharged even though he was unable to function with daily living activities, even after 3 appeals, denied. I contacted the director of this facility personally and he personally assisted me with this issue and "gave me his word" that he would not discharge my loved one even though the insurance company stopped paying and we could not pay anything and Medicaid was pending. You really can't judge a place until you've been at the worst of the worst. I had a heart transplant in Shands, Gainsville for a specialty doctor up at UF in Gainsville, Fl. After a week of surgery I was placed in a "Stephen King" rehab center in the deep south. I stayed on bed pans for a half hour or so, they didn't wipe me and woke in the AM with "chocolate " all over my bed. They left my sheets this way for three days. Unacceptable for open wound care especially. They only had two aides for the whole place and he nurse. Three days in I finally got my life saving meds and pain pills . A little late IMHO! Finally a week later my room crashed around me and I hollored for an aid stat! She finally got the nurse a half hour later as I went into ventricular tachycardia! I almost died and went to No Fl Regional to be paddled and shocked twice to get back into normal sinus rythem. Not right! I think it was called No Fl Rehab Center, blah! When I get back home I'd chose Heartland, knowing the area and some good people who've worked there. It wasn't perfect, so I give it and A- maybe, but it sure beat some of the lesser like Downtown Gardens. Jupiter Rehab is good too! Being for Gardens these three are probably your best options. Heartland, thanks for helping me, and your OT and PT staff are top notch and fun to work with! Murray Winship
