I started with the mussels and clams in the white wine and garlic sauce. Delicious. Sorry to say it was way better than my go to spot in the USA, Dirty Pierre's. I also had the lasagna with the Bolognese sauce. Again, delicious. My better half had the fried calamari. No complaints from her. Highly recommend.

We were seated at an outdoor table for two. The menu has plenty of salads, about ten pizzas, and pastas. We wanted a pizza so we asked the waiter how many slices were in the pizza. He said the pizza was for one person only. Although surprised, we took him at his word and I ordered a pizza and my husband ordered an antipasto plate. We also heard him tell this to other patrons nearby. When the pizzas arrived we all learned each pizza had six slices in it. We had the diavolo pizza. It was decent but not great. The antipasto plate had a lot of meat on it, two small olives, and some dry lettuce. There was no dressing on it and none was offered. Again, it was decent but not great. I am sharing these details because I want others to know what to expect.

We picked Le Café because it was full of people and busy which always a good indicator of at least passable food. We sat outside, but did go inside to wash hands after numerous surface touches on water taxi's public transit during our morning explorations. The bathroom area had sinks outside of the bank's themselves and were clean and well stocked. The service was a little slow, but once we ordered, the food showed up quickly. My clubhouse with ham, egg, tomato, rocket and cheese was very good and plentiful. The lovely K had the ballerina salad which looked and tasted great. My Sister and her husband travelling with us this trip, both had burgers and fries (?). My Sister asked for it to be well done, and when it arrived it was quite rare, but she soldiered through it as it was past 2 PM and our first food of the day. When the plates were picked up and the bill dropped our waiter said he noticed how rare it was when taking the plate away and had removed the burger from our bill. He also asked that we come back again and ask for him so he could provide us with a proper meal. I've not seen that in Italy before, it was very observant of him, and the right thing to do. Kudos to him, I wish I had got his name.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. If it's hot outside, definitely take a seat inside since they have air conditioning. They have a large variety of sweets to choose from, so you're bound to find something you'll like. I chose a brioche filled with cream and pistachios, a fruit tart, and a strudel. They were all good choices and my favorite was the brioche, though I wish it had more pistachios than mostly shown on the outside. Sometimes you'll find some small appetizers on the counter that you can sample while making your selection. Nothing fancy (small squares of pizza, some nuts, etc.) , but it's a nice touch. Celso is a nice bakery and I'd definitely recommend it to those visiting the city.
