In the end we all ordered salads. Each was well prepared, beautifully present and a good value. The service was very good as well. There were no English speakers on the day we visited. We each speak a little French however we would have managed just fine had we not as universal restaurant sign language would have sufficed for everything except the menu.

Escargots delight and beef that's farm raised, not factory. Prepare to bite and enjoy every bit of it, it's the way it should be. Recommend for sure and I would go back too.

We took advantage of the outside seating and were delighted by the fire pit, as well as the relaxed, calm atmosphere outside. Make no mistake, the service outside was very attentive. My favorite dish was the caviar served in the transparent pod -- delicious and quite aesthetic with the optics. Of course, it helps when the Chef has a great first name.... ;-)

Extremely disappointed…read more This is a 2-stars restaurant which for many years has been commented as being a potential 3-stars. The place is beautiful, high ceilings, lovely tables. But the meal was "technically" very nice and definitely 2-stars but the flavours, the seasoning, the overall aromas were poor to average. Everything except the main course was totally forgettable. Service was also ok but the sommelier was a trainee who didn't know much about wine or anything else. Most of the wine pairings were null or ridiculous. Very disappointed. Especially when the menu is 335€ per head, you deserve some kind of amazement. There was none.

It happened to be a…read morerather quiet night, though a Saturday, but that meant we got pampered by the staff, which evidently made our meal that much more pleasant. There's a private parking lot for the restaurant/hotel, and although we had no trouble finding parking, I can see that it could get packed really quickly during a busy night or hotel season. However, there's always parking available along the street leading to the Lion, but it can get a little tricky (especially for the ladies wearing heels, since it's rather gravelly and can get muddy). The restaurant itself is nice, clean, and with plenty of space. The food was absolutely delicious. They have two different types of pre-set menus that can let you discover different dishes for a relatively good price (though still expensive, but that's the type of restaurant it is), and plenty of other items a la carte as well. I had the lamb chops, which were amazing, and came with plenty of vegetables and a potato (I never like it when restaurants serve a dish that's basically just meat, with perhaps three peas to make you feel a little more healthy). I also had the creme brulee, which had pieces of pear in it--very interesting texture and taste. 1815 also has an extensive wine list, and though I didn't have any, the other people at the table were very pleased with their choice (I apologize, I unfortunately don't remember what it was). All in all, I think this is a great place for a super fancy date (and in case both are too drunk to drive, they can always try to rent a room for the night, though I bet that might hurt the wallet a bit), or for a nice, once-in-a-time get-together with friends/family/colleagues. The staff was also very friendly, which is always a plus in my book.

Hubby was very happy with his beef carpaccio like dish and lamb chops. My mushroom/jamon on crostini was good not amazing. Overall a quaint little restaurant with local flavor to get away from all the city tourist traps and hang with some locals.
