I walk past Mo&Co. in Queensway Plaza every single day, at least twice: on my way to the office and…read moreon my way back, so I'm aware of what's on sale, when they've received new orders and when the new season is on too. I also know when a piece of clothing has sold out because I stop by every week and more often than not, add things to my wish list. I love the Frenchy chic style, with the bright but plain colors. But little I knew about the business itself and assumed they were actually French. In fact, it's a Guangzhou based company that launched 10 years ago, although it only arrived to Hong Kong last year. Mo&Co. is not only a pioneer in fashion in China, but apparently, they are also innovative in the way they approach their employees and customers. The design of their clothes is not intentionally French-like since, according to the founder, it started with her own need to create distinctive clothes for herself. And she got it right, because the brand definitely has personality: it's not the cute little girl style but it's more straight line designed, more about simple cuts touched with some color or pattern or message that makes it unique. I love their leather pieces, whether it's a jacket or a long skirt, and some of their dresses are definitely on that wish list. And it's affordable; right now they've got a hanger with sales only. What I also like about them too is that, at this outlet, though small it's never busy (and I walk past at peak times...) and that makes the whole shopping experience even better at Mo&Co.

I only give this place a 4 because I have not had an opportunity to wear many of my purchases and…read morelaunder them to know how the quality will stand up over some time. But I love COS and love that I discovered this store. I am not a fashionista, but I do love well made clothes that look taylored and yet have room to function and move. I always read care labels before a purchase and I do shy away from merino wool because it can pull and not wash well if not extremely well made. COS does have many pieces made of merino wool, so I kind of looked past these items. The clothes might use a lesser quality fabric on many pieces, but the cut and tayloring is current and comparable to items you would find in any high end retailer. The clothes, brand and price point kind of make me think of this brand as higher end than an H&M, less quality and cheaper price than Saks Fifth Avenue brands, equal in cut, structure and function as Marimekko and other equaivalent cut, high-end clothing lines in many ways and very current in the realm of what is happening in fashion. Simple lines, simple colors, modern. For business or casual, COS offers classic pieces I hope to have in my wardrobe for some time. COS is out of England. As stated on their website: "COS is a fashion brand for women and men who want modern, functional, considered design. Offering reinvented classics and wardrobe essentials, we create pieces that are made to last beyond the season. Traditional methods and new techniques merge to form timeless, understated collections. Since launching in 2007, we have opened stores worldwide in carefully considered locations, applying an architectural design concept that preserves buildings' original features whilst creating a modern, welcoming space." The store itself is a two story structure. Lots of staff if you needed assistance and pretty open space to browse around. Men's clothes are on the second floor. Store seems well organized. There are some comfortable seats throughout if you had a spouse who needed to park it while you look around.

Before departing for Hong Kong I thought to search and see if the city had a COS (H&M's high end…read morecousin) and to my surprise and delight, they had not one but two locations! COS (Collection Of Style) was a wardrobe staple of mine when I lived in London. (COS hasn't yet made it to the USA.) As a regular COS shopper I knew the sizing of the clothes here is often variable (in some items I'm an XS, others I'm a M) so I took armloads into the dressing room. I think this is a good strategy in almost any shop (if you're going to go through the hassle to take your clothes off to try on one item, you might as well try on six, right?) but even moreso here. Think you're a medium? Take a small and a large in with you too! This COS shop is on the medium-large side, with two stories and women's, men's and children's offerings. I tried on heaps of clothing and ended up going home with a fun grey jumper whose sleeves you can turn up to reveal a bright blue inside lining, an oversized sweatshirt dress and a cashmere hat. COS is definitely worth a look if you want to inject some Scandinavian cool into your closet.

It wasn't until last week that I finally ventured inside the boutique to check out the goods! And what beautiful goods they are. Despite the name, Shanghai Tang is actually a Hong Kong-born luxury goods retailer. The brand exudes timeless elegance and incorporates that unmistakable Chinese aesthetic. They make gorgeous dresses, small leather goods, scarves, jewelry, children's clothing, lacquered jewelry boxes, and more. I fell in love with a very unique scarf which features gray-hued Mongolian cashmere on one side, and a show-stopping fuchsia silk with Chinese pattern on the other side. It's quite the statement scarf, and I know it will instigate a lot of interesting conversations! My friend found a really striking green silk dress with the most precise tailoring, and I purchased a cotton shirt for my little niece which features delicate embroidery and a Mandarin collar. If you're looking for special gifts for close friends and family, I highly recommend the enamel bangle bracelets. They're worthy of collecting! Shanghai Tang is now my one-stop shop for beautiful pieces that make highly-coveted gifts.

I returned it to the store, and their manager, Alice, explained that according to the brand policy, they would need to ship the faulty belt to their china factory for repair and that I would have it back in approximately 6 weeks. When I complained about the fact that they had offer no replacement or exchange the manager said that it would take them some days to consider and get back to me. Bottom line, I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER shop again at this brand. The prices are high enough to expect high and immediate customer service and support that resolves things on the spot. They can keep the belt.

As opposed to the rest of them Zara is not a designer store, neither a high end brand. It's a medium quality, good design clothing and accessories' store. We all know Zara. It may be argued that it does not match in this location but I think it's great that it's there. Today I wanted to buy a bag and it was almost an emergency...I had kept an old one for way too long. As Topshop in Queensway doesn't have many bags (if any at all) I headed to Zara. None of the other stores crossed my mind. What's more: I knew I could find what I was after - a big black bag, rather simple. This season is plagued with those, with a good range of qualities and prices. I finally got Trafaluc one and I love it, it does its job and it's nicely designed. They also have some pretty brown leather bags in this collection. I did have a look at the clothes too; Zara HK is different to Europe's stores (the ones I know) in many ways...not only the design is more minimalistic and the lines simpler but it is also more expensive and it's positioning differs from Europe's. I found the current collection a little boring but still, great to have a Zara just 2 minutes away from my office!

Located above Admiralty MTR station and directly connected to Pacific Place. With an all-white open space atmosphere, the moment I stepped in, it feels so refreshing and inviting. What I love most and find interesting about is the innovative vending machine pop-up store concept (located opposite Simplylife), where people can shop on the go. They have previously stocked American Apparel tank tops, Havaianas flip-flops, Matcha dessert coupon, etc., and currently showcasing a brand new fabric care experience, The Laundress. There are beauty counters, unique fashion stores, Shoespace, music and books. I usually will take a break and have a coffee at Holly Brown, while you can also grab some lunch/dinner at Simplylife. So, what are you waiting for? Check it out!

And I say I've witnessed because I have to get to United Centre and walk through Queensway Plaza (where Lab Concept is) to get to my office. So I've been to pretty much every store in there. Last shop to open there was TopShop, and I was sooo happy about it! The store in Central is quite big already but having this one downstairs was so convenient! Shame that they don't have many shoes...for that you may want to head to Shoespace though, especially during sales, where they separate the shoes in sizes and have great discounts. For beauty stores they've gathered a good number of brands: MAC, Aesop, Innisfree, Fresh (just opened!)...to name a few. They not only sell products but they also have some beauty treatments. Only problem being that it'll all opened and there's little privacy. As for the dining places you can head to Holly Brown or Starbucks for coffee, Aroma for cakes and Crystal Jade or Simplylife for lunch or dinner. A recommendation here: go to Simplylife at lunch time and order the set lunch (read my review about it). Just be aware that Queensway Plaza is pretty busy at lunch time and you will have to queue at some of the restaurants (especially Simply). Lab Concept already looks pretty amazing to me but as it kept changing over the last months I suspect some other stores will be opening here...excited!

If you're like me, with size 41 feet ... shoe shopping in Hong Kong can be, shall we say…read more'challenging'? Fortunately, there's always Vickie Shoes. I was introduced to Vickie by our relocation agent - that's right, I got in early. Shoes, then an apartment, its all about getting your priorities straight girls. Most places in Hong Kong go up to a 40, which is always too small (although better than the 37 on offer when I lived in South Korea), but just close enough for a tantalising 'maybe - I should try it just in case ...' but it never ends well. Marks & Spencer cater for the larger sizes, as does a shop at the plaza end of Stanley Market, but Vickie definitely rules the roost. Off the rack - or shelf if you want to be picky - sizes go up to a 42 as standard, but, if that still doesn't do it for you, they'll make 'em for you. Up to a size 47. It's a fairly captive market, and they know it. Their summer range of flats and sandals are all marked at around the HKD $400 mark, and the pair of grey suede boot I bought last winter were almost double that. But the quality is good. And you know you have a choice of styles - anything in the shop! When was the last time anyone above a 38 had that on offer? I find lot of the styles a bit old fashioned. But that's my personal and standard opinion of flats in general. It is with a heavy heart that I have boxed up most of my heels (sniff), but they really aren't practical for walking around Hong Kong - the pavements aren't exactly even in a lot of places and Thank God for the escalators, but those hills are Not, repeat Not (yes with the capital N) stiletto friendly. I'm coming to terms with a new world order, fortunately, I have my pal Vickie to guide me through.
