I can't believe places like these exist! I first learned about San Sebastián by watching a YouTube video and learning that it has the highest amount of tapas bars or bars per square feet as compare to any where in the world, so I decided to come!! Our Airbnb was literally facing la perla and the beach and upon becoming curious about this establishment, we decided to check it out. My friend and I had no idea we were going to love this new discovery! For about $39 USD we both got the 2 hour spa special which allowed us to use the facility: salt water therapy - more like where-has-this-been-all-my-life?! Lol I took pictures and videos and shared it to my social media and I will blog about the benefits and my experience since I do have a health blog. (Thebeautyofhealthblog) There needs to be more people who should know about this!
Fantastic sangria and white martini Rossi on the terrace - beautiful view, even in the rain. read more

1. When we walk in, greet us. Don't say, "bar is closed" without asking if we have a reservation which we did, especially if the website charges us $15euro pp to book 2. When we say we have a reservation at least pretend to know we did, or care 3. If we ask if you can put together two tables to seat our group when the restaurant is Empty try to oblige 4. Bring small plates for our appetizer dish so we aren't eating with our fingers like we're at a fast food restaurant The view is fantastic, the service and food are not worth it. read more

Worst management in San Sebastián- even though there were many seats available inside, manager did not let us in because we have a 2 years old baby. He said they are available today and point us to sit outside. Stay away. read more

I think the best part of La Perla was the super nice guy working at the front desk. His English was great, and he explained everything to us in detail so we weren't confused when we got in. The spa itself was decent, and the price was right. Normally, when I go to spas, the special spa water makes my hair and skin look and feel amazing, but it wasn't really the case at La Perla. I think this spa is meant more for the relaxation aspect than for magic water. I wish the locker rooms were cleaned a little more frequently, but they weren't terrible. I don't regret going, but I don't feel the need to go back. read more
Thalassotherapy means the use of seawater for benefiting your health. Wonderful article below: https://www.google.be/amp/www.cntraveler.com/stories/2016-07-07/thalassotherapy-exploring-europes-best-saltwater-spas/amp Time starts immediately at purchase and includes pre/post locker room preparation. Co-ed locker room with changing closets within for privacy. Pro-Tip: Choose locker with key string long enough to wear around neck. Showers tolerable, hairdryers available. Price as of May 2017. 2 Hours 27 3 Hours 31,50 5 Hours 35,50 Only option that includes access to the gym. Swim Cap 3€ Visited 3 times during my stay in SB & well worth it. Suggested cycle by staff: - Main room - Large hydro massage pool area where focus is specific body parts at different stations (3Minutes per). - Side Pool area with calm to very intense full body hydro massage area similar to strong rapids or dangerous whirlpool in ocean. - Main rotunda circular hot tub. - Downstairs cooler pool w various exercise equipment. - Downtstairs Sauna / Steam. - Downstairs Cool Plunge (not cold whatsoever). - Relax anywhere or in d stairs water bed (not my thing) area. - Downstairs hydro hall way per your convenience. Once a full cycle is complete I suggest doing a second but more streamlined. The Pearl indeed and another perfect example why the massage, restaurant & whirlpool/hydro massage | steam/sauna options within deserve their own Yelp pages. However, the moderators, folks at Yelp in S.F. won't / can't care to comprehend it this way. As a result this is why my time as an active Yelp user will soon run its course. read more
Words cannot express how incredibly relaxing and therapeutically cleansing this place is. It's affordable. It's immaculate. It's welcoming. It's easy to understand how to get in and out of all the different pools in maneuver through the labyrinth to the best of your relaxation focus. I've never experienced anything like this before and can only imagine ancient Romans bathing in the same vein. read more

I came in thinking I'd try the 2 hr seawater therapy pool bar the front desk woman didn't seem to understand what I wanted, which is fair because I speak little Spanish. Instead I opted for the aromatherapy massage. I paid $55 Euros for 40 minutes which isn't terrible but the massage only got about half my body and, despite asking for more pressure multiple times, was light handed. The massage included legs, feet briefly, back and neck. No attention for chest, arms, scalp or hands. Left feeling disappointed read more

Enjoyed a few hours on a rainy day with the hubs. Nothing luxurious, but great pools. Its much bigger than in looks from the outside. Not too crowded. We did not need a reservation (although recommended on busier days). read more

The Perla has a restaurant and an extensive spa area. I went to the spa area and it was a fantastic way to spend the afternoon. The relaxing atmosphere of the spa perfectly fits in with the relaxing San Sebastian city. Some of their spa packages (i.e. massage + pools + meals) are fairly expensive. However, we were able to get a "student / young person" discount for just the pools. You pay for the number of hours you want, and you get a card to swipe in and out to track your time. They do require swim caps, so you either have to bring your own or pay a few euros for one from the Perla. There was such a variety of pools -- one with fountain / waterfalls that looks out to the bay, one more enclosed, so many massage jets, whirpools, a hot tub, a cold water pool, many different light colors and ambiences, a steam room, a room with a bunch of water beds. a pool with exercise equipment (although I'm not sure how much of a workout you can get with water bikes), etc. All the pools and shower/changing areas were very clean. The Perla itself doesn't look very big on the outside, but it is very expansive, lots of underground space that opens up right onto the beach on the other side. I went on a weekday afternoon and the pools weren't crowded at all. I didn't see any kids there; it definitely wasn't a kids play area. It was so relaxing and I definitely will go back the next time I am in San Sebastian! read more

They have several saltwater pools with different temperatures and features, like waterfalls, massaging sprays and whirlpools. There is also a slightly cooler pool with lots of sports equipments inside, and a really cold pool which looks awesome but i didn't dare to visit. The hot jacuzzi is surrounded by loungers, from where you can watch the beach and the sunset. We didn't try them because they didn' look so special, but in the spanish comment i read the have heat radiators, so you will not freeze when coming out of the warm waters. They have two saunas and two steam baths, which are all nice. In the hallway between them you will find the peculiar sight of a lucent little mountain of white crystals, which i first mistook for a giant heap of salt. But it's ice from a wall dispenser, first falling on a shelf and then forming a bigger pile on the ground. Nice to cool yourself down after the sauna! There's a corridor which provides alternating hot and cold water spurts. Especially nice was the room where you can lay down on water beds and just relax. It's better than it sounds! The paying system is convenient: you can pay for 2, 3 or 5 hours in advance, extra time costs you additionally 2 Euros per 20 minutes. Don't underestimate the amount of time you can spend here easily and go directly for 3 or even 5 hours, i could have spend 5 hours but instead we aimed too short and then decided to just pay the extra money in exchange for more time. I think they even don't charge more than 2 euros in total, even when you take more time than 20 minutes. When we came out finally i was surprised how cheap our fine was. The spa looks pretty fine except for the ceiling, by which you can see the spa has been around for some time. There are lots of changing cubicles, everything is very clean, the showers are comfortably big (but i had difficulties with the shower temperature, maybe some of them are fixed to a specific one), and there are many mirrors and free hair dryers in the changing zone. The key for your locker is on a ribbon that you can simply wear around your neck. We were there in a nonbusy afternoon and not high season time, so it was totally not crowded. If you are in town or close, don't hesitate to spend half a day here! It's worth it :) (Since i had a spanish native with me, i don't know how the experience for non-spanish speakers are) read more

This place was amazing. Went there on a rainy day after having driven a super long road trip. Did 2hrs and left feeling rejuvenated. I found it a little weird that you pay based upon how long you spend there. We chose the 2hr options which was just enough time. I got to explore all their offerings available with my package within that time. I did not stop to nap anywhere though which I saw others doing they looked very happy and relaxed to. I have never had to wear a swim cap before but hey no worries. This place was awesome!!! read more

For 100 Euro, my husband and I both got 40 minute Vichy massages. You basically lay on a table while warm saltwater pours all over you, while getting massaged by a person. Pretty sweet, and a nice way to unwind after walking around Europe for nearly 2 weeks. read more

This spa was fantastic mainly thanks to its location on the most picturesque strip of beach in the area. Inside the spa is nothing special and a bit overcrowded. On the plus side it is ornately decorated from the outside and built in a brilliant Victorian style, blending perfectly with the rest of beautiful San Sebastian. Entrance is very cheap and we got very lucky with the weather! Fill those clear sunny days with adventures exploring San Sebastian and the Basque Country. Leave the spa for a rainy day and running straight out, plunging into the sea after the sauna will be a real treat! read more

The woman at the front desk were very nice and sweet. All of the people in Spain are amazing, kind, generous and courteous. They explained everything. So why 2 stars ? The cold water in a majority of the spa areas. 90% of all of the spa showers has cold water. It's cooler than lukewarm but not ice cold. I guess you would say it's cool water. The entire time my wife and I kept looking at each other asking why wouldn't they make the water warm or hot. They even have a section with ice cold snow. My wife felt maybe it's because pregnant woman can't be in hot water. Well even if that were the case, why not at least have 25% to 50 % hot or really warm water and the other 25% to 50% cool water. Why have an ice cold snow room with no hot water room? The hottest section was a hot tub but it was not hot. It was Luke warm. Luke warm was the hottest they had and that was 5 to 10 %. Why not one star. They spa showers for the feet hamstrings gluts and shoulder neck area were not bad. They had a section that looked like a water bed massage. We were excited to try it. What a let down when all it was was waterbeds. Why wouldn't you have hotter temperatures? Heat is relaxing. At least in 25% of your rooms? Why is the hottest temperature Luke warm? Makes no sense to me. read more
