One note of warning: Google Maps driving directions from weststadt tried to send me down a stretch of Panoramastraße that had 2 poles in the middle of the road to make it pedestrian-only... Anyways. Finally got to Bodega to be greeted warmly, English menus provided once the waiter picked up that our German was less than ideal. I pondered switching over to speaking Spanish, but didn't want to confuse things any more. Had some nice German wine and a collection of tapas - everything was excellent. Didn't get to the main plates (I'm a sucker for tapas) so I can't comment on the offerings there. Dessert (I'm a sucker for that, too) was good - we got a flan and crema catalaña with a sweet sherry. Desserts were decent, but had room for improvement. Would happily go back and recommend this to anybody looking for a change from the great German food in town.

Service was great as we had at least 2 servers catering to our needs. We shared the tapas plate special for 2, and we like it a lot. A fair selection (consisting of artichokes, sardines, olives, seafood salad--love that!, etc), but be aware that it serves mostly as an appetizer as the portion per person was not so big. I had the "Sepia a la Plancha" (grilled squid), and to my surprise (usually I am skeptical about seafood quality in southern Germany), it was fresh and cooked nicely. My friend got the seafood special for 2 (consisting of several types of fish, shrimps, mussels, squid), and they also thought it was cooked nicely. Since our main dishes all come with salad, the servers just brought a huge bowl of salad for us to share. I'm a fan of family-styled dining, so that was a plus for me. Portions for the entree were big, so we had no room left for dessert (sigh...). The meal was on a pricier end, but for a special occasion, one cannot go wrong with Bodega. Tip: If you want to try their Paellas, you would need to make the order much earlier (either a day before or when they open for the day).

The paella is not cheap but of high quality ingredients (they're generous with the seafood) and it's always nice crispy at the bottom of the pan, so make sure to scrape that off! If you're lucky, they have live music and flamenco dancers, which is pretty extraordinary. On a summer night we prefer to sit outside though and get tipsy off the homemade sangria :)

I chose a seat at the bar table the server was very friendly. He gave me lots of recommendations and explained to me which one would have more flavors and which ones he liked, I went with grilled prawns + grilled calamari. Then he gave me a huge basket of bread, a side of salad and those two grilled perfections. I love the char that grill haves to seafood, butter and herbs would bring the flavors to another level, last but not least, the lemon will break down all the grease and make you remember this forever. It was truly a pleasure to taste this during my stay in this town. I noticed the bartender was doing some origami since he wasnt busy, then when I was about to leave, my server told me "free shot on the house" and gave me this shot served on this beautiful flower napkin that the bartender folded!! I've been here twice now, had the pork medallions and the rabbit leg. Both were excellent. I think when I go again I will have the lamb. Wish I could relax inside, it looks like it had very nice atmosphere and the staff was very nice for the brief time we spoke. The first time the manager came outside and spoke with my colleague and I while we waited for our food to be prepared. He spoke of his love for basketball. It was very thrilling to see someone passionate about an American sport. He was a pleasure to speak with. Tonight my coworker spoke with the hostess while I retrieved the vehicle. He said that she was very nice to speak with as well. Hopefully the manager we spoke with will remember someday when we spoke and have a shot with us like he spoke of that evening! That is when it isn't a 10K Euro fine for doing so.
