I'm happy to report that she'd be proud of her namesake town, especially Casey's Creamery. From the outside, I initially wondered if it was more of a decorative storefront than a working ice cream shop. The moment I stepped inside, I realized it was the real deal. What makes Casey's Creamery stand out is its small-batch approach to ice cream, with creative flavors that make it worth taking your time to decide. I was also pleasantly surprised to find they serve donut holes--a fun addition that pairs perfectly with a scoop of ice cream. Whether you're making a road trip across Iowa or simply passing through central Iowa, Casey's Creamery is a sweet place to take a break, cool off, and enjoy a treat. It's a charming hometown shop that's well worth the stop.

Even if it hadn't been a hot and humid July day, I'm convinced the warm welcome I received would have been exactly the same. We need more places like Downtown Coffee and Cream in our world. My first visit was in the afternoon, where I enjoyed a scoop of "This Just Got Serious" ice cream and a strawberry smoothie. I came back the next morning for an Americano and a cinnamon swirl bagel.
