The seafood is incredibly fresh--shrimp, fish, and everything else tastes like it just came straight from the ocean. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help you pick the best options. The market is clean, well organized, and the quality is outstanding. If you're in Galveston and love seafood, this place is a must-visit. It's one of the best spots on the island to experience real, fresh Gulf seafood!

We got to witness the workers in the back bring in fresh Red Snappers directly from the boat into the store. It feels good knowing we are buying and supporting local. I'm already planning to become a regular despite the 90 minute drive. I bought three types of fish, two of each: Red Snapper, Striped Bass, and Flounder. I requested that they filet the Red Snappers, while the other four were left to be just cleaned (scaled, cut, and rinsed). It was well packaged. They even put ice in the bag for my long trip back. Excellent, excellent, excellent service. Next time a long with fresh fish, I will get blue crab and shrimp. Note: They are right around the corner from Katie's Seafood House.

We traveled to Galveston to visit the store and restaurant firsthand. For years, we followed Ronnie Maceo's story and were saddened by his passing. Thankfully, his daughter, Concetta, has continued the family legacy. We were fortunate to meet her during our visit. She was incredibly gracious, and spending time with her made the experience even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, and we couldn't leave without stocking up on spices and sauces. It's amazing how much history, culture, and tradition are packed into this one place. The gumbo roux is the perfect rich, dark color, and the flavor is everything you hope for--authentic, hearty, and reminiscent of New Orleans. Concetta also shared the weekly specials, giving us even more reasons to return. Needless to say, every future trip to Galveston will include a stop at Maceo's. I highly recommend adding Maceo's to your bucket list. See you there!

My wife and I ordered a muffuletta and a turkey sandwich along with small cups of gumbo and red beans and rice. All were excellent. The service was a bit slow, but we arrived about the same time as the Sunday church crowd, so I think that's to be expected. The restaurant is also a store, and they have a good variety of products, despite being rather small. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the Galveston area!

This morning I got up bright and early at 630a to help set up tents, tables and chairs, signage for all the vendors to use; met the market mgr Candy (she's awesome) I talked to a lot of people (which I love) and i helped sell Morgan Elementary schools veggies from their garden. I bought some fresh kombucha from 3rd Coast and fresh homemade tamales from, momma's tamales in Houston. It started raining and lightning around 1045a; I needed to leave at 11am so it all worked out. It's well organized with a a variety of dedicated staff and vendors. It's a true community experience. The location is spacious and accessible, and the food that I have bought from there is always really good. I have bought baked goods like cookies, breads, bagels, Indian food, and dog treats for my dogs. I've also bought fresh vegetables and handmade soaps. Today I was there on a rainy day, and the vendors were still there and ready for their customers. I was also impressed by the community support because people were still shopping in the rain, with and without umbrellas and raincoats.
