Dear Château de Locguénolé, Your property is so amazing, I…read morecan't believe we stayed in a castle on a lake!!! Your prix-fixe dîner(also in the castle, in a charming candle-lit room surrounded by antiques from centuries gone by) was affordable and trés spectulaire!!!! We opted for the 5-course, and, as you said, "pas le probleme", I was able to have matching courses in a vegetarian version. I love how all of your edible floral decorations (I hope they were edible, but I'm still here, a week later) and many of your fresh herbs and veggies (and berries for the desserts!) came from your quaint gardens right outside the kitchen! I loved that the wine was so tasty that I wanted another bottle before I finished one glass! I loved the consistency of the dishes (all extremely yummy and well-presented) and the smoothness and politeness of the service. I just loved everything (including my company, of course!) and can't wait to visit you again. Swoon, to be in France again...those were some of the best dishes I've ever had in my life and my taste buds will never forgive me if I don't come back. and lots of , Xoxoxox Liana

We are in a tourist town in October. It is nice, but really really closed. I mean the Super U is…read moreclosed. We see one place open, and we know that they know that they can throw rillette on the table and we will happily pay for it. Instead, we had one of the best lunches in France. First and repeatedly, the sole waiter was On It: we were going to get attentive service on his watch, dammit. I ordered the fish soup (because the French around here are not afraid to have it taste like fish), which was wonderful, and Herself had a salad with chevre melted over toastettes, with a small pot of blue berry preserve, which caused Herself to wax poetic about Morbihan culinary genius. They have great tomatoes here, better than California (except for home-grown or heirloom). BTW they call a dish before the main dish (or plate) the "entree", which makes sense as it is the start or entrance to the meal. So then, I had muscles. A pot of them. With curry sauce. I hoped for a Thai or Indian style curry, but it was a curry-flavoured cream sauce. That took it from excellent down to "very good". Herself had a lovely taglitelli carbonara, quite pleasing. She was glad she could order a rosé without getting a wine cooler our having others snicker because she ordered rosé. They also have decaffeinated espresso! And it's good. French have the food thing down; maybe wine too. But coffee, leave that to the Italians or Philz. I'm not saying it's always bad, but don't expect a lot.

What a charming small restaurant along the water in the Gulf of Morbihan! Totally authentic and…read moredelicious. All seating is outdoors so be sure to reserve in advance and bring warm clothes. We feasted on the tuna tataki, which was perfectly raw on the inside, the fresh bar catch of the day that was served with barely cooked veggies and a light sauce that was absolutely heavenly, and the scallops with shrimp served with noodles and julienned vegetables with soy sauce. The children's meal with fish and fries was also wonderful and came with broccoli and a generous 2 scoops of ice cream for dessert. Service was fantastic! We loved it!
