    6pc Xiao Long Bao: €9,00
    Paul V.

Maybe I've been ruined by Taiwan's own Din Tai Fung, but no Xiao Long Bao dish has ever quite lived up to those visits. Having said that, La Maison du Dim Sum will certainly satisfy even an aggressive craving for dim sum of any sort, and their fast and friendly service will make sure your entire experience is enjoyable. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? While La Maison du Dim Sum isn't exactly in the thick of the tourist friendly spots around Paris, it's tucked away in a nice part of town that's certainly worth walking at the very least. Once inside, a trilingual staff will make sure you're taken care of in an atmosphere that's quaint and comfortable. The highlight of my Saturday evening visit was the speed of service, which ended up producing some XLB no more than ten minutes after I'd ordered it. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? My six piece order of Xiao Long Bao came in at €9,00, or €1,50 per piece. That's not exactly knock out value, but it's not unreasonable either given the wide variety of dim sum that's available here and essentially nowhere else in the city. Other menu items are priced accordingly, and it honestly wouldn't be difficult to be in and out while fully satisfied for €10 or so. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I'll start off here with my definition of the perfect Xiao Long Bao, which is of course exactly what Din Tai Fung dishes up - tasty and soft casing that holds within its bosom a decent portion of soupy goodness and a small ball of pork that produces the aforementioned goodness. La Maison du Dim Sum was certainly in the same ballpark here, but there was room for improvement as well. The casing was a bit firm and sticky, and while there was a very generous portion of pork inside, there was no soup, which made the whole thing a bit dry. Flavor wise the components were there, but I'll admit I needed a bit of soy and hot sauce to bring the dish together. Not bad, but not what I would call elite. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? La Maison du Dim Sum probably has the widest selection of dim sum in Paris, but I wouldn't say the quality is quite high enough to have me coming back every time I'm in town. No Star Granted.

A great dim sum place in Paris -- probably one of the best. The quality of the food maybe not as unique or refined as the best dim sum restaurant we find in LA but their food is way above average even by SoCal standards. The dim sum are generously filled with ingredients that are evidently very fresh. There are about 7 different steamed dim sum as well as a pan fried bite. They also serve a selection of deep fried bites, the mini-nem is absolutely delicious. Family owned. The owner herself steams and pan fries in the window of the restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly during our visit. A great place to go to for you dim sum cravings in Paris!

surprisingly good dim sum in Paris - who would have thought haha. on our first night in paris, it was raining and we didnt want to venture too far out for dinner so La maison du Dim Sum was closest to our apartment. i noticed the staff speaking to each other in Chinese so i figured this place had to be somewhat decent for dim sum haha. luckily our server spoke very fluent english and she was able to explain the restaurant concept to us - which is basically all you can eat for dinner at around 17 euros. me and justin b. thought this sounded like a good deal so we thoguht why not haha. so the meal is served to you in 'courses' - first course is a selection of your typical dim sum selection like har gow and shiu mai and other steamed dumplings. then its a plate of deep fried goodies like egg rolls. then we were able to choose an entree with rice which was like a chicken satay and fried rice. then after those 3 rounds you can ask for more of anything that you had already been served. we were so full at this point that we couldnt do a 2nd round of anything but overall the food was pretty good. comparable to dim sum places that i've been to back at home in LA. we decided to just move onto a dessert course and we chose fried bananas. all in all - great friendly service, English friendly for tourists, and good asian dim sum that will satisfy any asian food craving that you may have haha

Our meal montage, a lovely lunch!

Great buffet lunch in what appeared to be a student oriented area. It was our only affordable & delicious meal in Paris. I loved that there was something for everyone there, the sinful fried items and mochi dessert as well as healthier veggie dishes, cabbage salad and fruit salad. I didn't love the steamed dim sum flavor at all, but that was just me perhaps. I loved the noodle dish, basic but yummy, and the shrimp dish. My mate loved the spring rolls. The servers were helpful, warm and spoke English. For the price (under 11 euros), I was more than satisfied.

We were staying near the area and happened to pass by this place as we were searching for a place to grab a bite. It's a small indoor cafe, but two things stuck out: the friendliness of the greeter (who we later found out is the owner) and that the dumplings were being handcrafted fresh by ladies right in front. We were seated at the last available seating for two, and there was a carafe of still water right there (with a sprig of mint for flavor). The restaurant emphasizes the fusion element (mainly between Chinese-dim-sum and Japanese Gyoza). We got two plates from the 'Les Compositions' menu: Menu (Dim Sum) Star (15.90€) and Menu Gyoza (14.90€). The Gyoza plate came out first, consisting of 4 meat dumplings and 4 veggie dumplings (you can tell the difference by the color of the wrapper). The plate also had medium grain rice, and seaweed salad, and a dipping sauce (soy vinegar). The dim sum plate came in two personalized size steam baskets that came JUST out of the steamer (all of it was very freshly hot, which was great). It came with rice, dipping sauce, and edamame (which is why it is called fusion, I guess). Everything was good, very fresh, and steaming hot. Obviously it depended on personal preference for fillings (we both like meat fillings a lot more than vegetarian). The size was perfect for the two of us for lunch, and we finally sated our (good) rice fix after a 12 day absence. As we were finishing, the greeter came over, and asked us to write something in a guest book. Kinda neat, so my wife wrote a nice greeting. We learned that she was Anne, the owner, and when she noticed that we were from Cali, she pointed us to a different guest book that had been signed by a famous California resident. We struck up a conversation, and paid by credit card. We left the restaurant really happy (it helped that the sun peeked out as we went outside as well). Ann was really cool, and love how a place like this exists (probably all over the city) without much hoopla.

When I moved to Paris 15 years ago the dumpling options could be counted not only on one hand, but on two fingers, which is why I'm thrilled with the dumpling explosion (aka ravioli for the French) in Paris. I find it hilarious as well that new places are opening up with names like "L'art du ravioli" since it's such a Frenchified, highly pretentious way of describing such a simple, traditional thing. In any case, this new canteen on the rue au Maire makes a statement with its dumpling focus. The menu consists of about 8 different dumpling types as well as a range of salads and other dishes. I asked the waitress for her classics, and she suggested the pork with chinese cabbage and cucumber salad. The salad was crisp and piquant and lovely, the dumplings were good, the meat mixture was flavorful, the dough soft but the texture of the pork was a bit grainy. I inhaled the whole order happily, however. The service was great and the prices are hard to beat. I paid 12E for an order of dumplings, my cucumber salad and a 1/4 of red.

A man from NY heard us speaking English and said it was really delicious so we knew it was the right choice. We had the pork and cabbage raviolis (12 for 5€) and the shrimp (12 for 6€) and beef with onions and a side of rice. It was all good but not the best. Very friendly staff. No dessert except litchi in syrup so that was disappointing. Over all we liked it but our standard is very high as we ate dim sum weekly in San Francisco at Good Luck dim sum on Clement. We are going to try some others.

It was beautifully presented in eight pieces. Upon the first yummy bite it was apparent this was cooking at another level. The fry was perfectly light and clean. Each bite substantial. The taste memorable. I have never had a sushi roll like it and now I want to live inside the restaurant so I can have it forever. We also got five pieces of the yummy Seitan Crispy, which comes with a lovely Doenjang sauce, that is thick and flavorful. These unique, protein boosts are also cleanly fried, delectable and filling.
