There was a musician inside playing and goes around the tables asking for tips. The service was fast and friendly. We appreciated the server bringing out extra ice. The food was just okay. It was tasty and decent, but definitely seems like it's catered towards tourists rather than being authentic and full of flavor. The location and atmosphere is great, but the food wasn't anything spectacular.

I'd asked for a table on the terrace just incase it was hot weather... which it was. The terrace has one stunning table with the best view in town! Overlooking the castle grounds. Don't let the €€€€ deter you; it's worth it. In addition to the cassoulet, I ordered the Corbière glass of red wine. Decent pairing with the cassoulet. There was a light course of croutons with olive tapenade. The cassoulet itself was great. Lots of interesting flavors and I love meat and beans in general. Service was courteous and efficient. Everyone spoke English quite well, which I appreciated. Bathrooms: Downstairs, a couple of stalls. Clean, beautiful, functional, and surprisingly spacious.

Really great Michelin-star restaurant in the cute village/town of Quint-Fonsegrives…read more The history of the restaurant is neat: the chef apparently fell in love with the little house the restaurant is located in, right across Quint-Fonsegrives' city hall, as its architecture is typical of the region, it has a backyard where are planted herbs & more and as it is near lots of fields/crops which remind the theme of the restaurant: Nature. We had made a reservation about a month and a half in advance for a Friday night. We arrived at 8 p.m. - the restaurant isn't open before, for dinner. The wood tables and tree decoration inside the restaurant made the style very unique and again, remind you of nature. We were seated near the open kitchen so we witnessed the arrival of the Chef and his team and their whole cooking. We were asked by the waiter if there was anything that we do not eat or food allergies. I should have said that I do not like game but didn't think they would serve it (I knew they had in the past but figured they probably vary a lot their cooking). We had fish, pigeon, cheese, figs, macarons... Very original mixes for every dish. The portions were not tiny at all. Even if I'm not crazy about pigeon, I could tell the cooking was mastered perfectly. The Chef likes to decorate his plates with edible flowers. The wine served with the meal was very good. As you leave to pay, you end up in the Boulangerie of the restaurant, where we tried some homemade nougat. It was very very very good. Apparently, if you want to go have lunch there during the week, the wait time to have a table is just a week. The restaurant is closed in August. Very affordable for a Michelin-star restaurant, around 60 euros per person (VS. nearly 100 euros downtown Toulouse in other Michelin's).

After a long night of traveling, my friend and I ended up on the cobblestone streets of Carcassonne, searching for a place to satisfy our hunger while not destroying our pocketbooks. Auberge de Dame Carcas was the best we could find, offering three menus, their regular being only 15 euros for a 3 course meal. Lovely! My friend had the Cassoulet - haricots blancs, canard, saucisse (white beans, duck & sausage), and it was divine. I mean it, I begged him for a few bites. I had the Tartine à l'aubergine, poivrons marinés, fromage de chèvre gratiné et jambon cru (sliced eggplant, marinated peppers, goat cheese and baked ham), on a bed of greens. It was light, yet filling, and 100% awesome. We shared an inexpensive bottle of wine, and relaxed, which was easy to do in this cozy restaurant. We ended up staying for quite some time, giggling and laughing so hard we were afraid pieces of duck would go flying out of our mouths. I swear we only shared the one bottle of wine! It must have been something about the atmosphere, so comfortable yet sophisticated, homey yet not grungy, this place was perfect and exactly what two weary travelers who needed a good laugh and a great meal needed.
