This place is the slowest place I've ever been to. I don't reccomend it to anyone who wants their pizza under an hour. This place sucks

What a delicious, off the beaten track, pizza find!…read more A very modest client of mine recently chose this as our lunch venue. Even though I was having one of those days where I wasn't sure if my brain could handle the small talk, my spirits instantly lifted when we got here. It's a family-run joint with stone-baked pizzas and your traditional Italian fare, all served with a personal touch. My curiousity was first piqued when I was told that all pizzas could be served gluten-free - which I thought was quite unusal for a small restaurant on the fringes of Kingston. So of course I had to try that option, even though I am partial to my wheat, and the result was delicious. The base was thin, crisp and light - if I wasn't told it was gluten-free, I certainly wouldn't have noticed or complained, which was helped by the plentiful and fresh toppings. Beyond the food - the friendly environment of this restaurant is what will make me return and why I'd recommend it to anyone. The decor is nothing special at a first glance, however there are some tables with glass covers and unusual - I want to say 'art' but I'm having a hard time categorising it...Basically there was a colourful arrangement of kids toys under the glass on our table, and a selection of kids stationery under a table nearby. It's slightly bizarre, and I'd be lying if I said I'd pay any money for one of my own, but it's certainly unique and our server was delighted to proudly chat away about them, which was all part of the warm environment. Now, to add to the tasty food, friendly service, and special furnishings - they do a broad selection of dishes for £5 on weekdays. This is an absolute steal and leaves you with no excuse to try it out when you're in the area. My one regret is that I had no change for a tip - I'm now contemplating popping in and giving them one when I'm next in Kingston, even if I'm not dining. That's quite an impression to leave on me....

We were not disappointed, they have a gluten free menu and were very knowledgeable and flexible catering for a vegan diner as well. The food was fantastic, tasty and fresh and the service was exemplary. It's just a shame I don't live closer.

Myself and my S.O went on a Thursday night, and there were only a few other couples in there, making it very quiet and the service on point. Our waiter was, however, hard to understand because he maintained a very low speaking volume which came across as a nuisance. I didn't think there was a huge amount of choice on the menu, but we still managed to pick out things we liked. I treated myself to the Summer Garden soft drink (apple, elderflower, and mint lemonade), and it was delicious. Like a softail Mojito, very refreshing and zingy! The food, I must say, was pretty disappointing. My Sicilian Arancini starter (fried rice balls stuffed with mozzarella) just tasted odd. There's no real way to describe it, the flavours and textures weren't marrying, it was bland but also left a bitter aftertaste. Very strange, give this one a miss. For mains, my S.O's beef ragu was delicious! He wasn't fond of the al dente linguine but I thought it was perfect. I had the seafood linguine, a dish I've had at other places, and by comparison it was a little lacking. The shellfish were cooked to perfection and it was a great size serving, but again the overall flavour was bland. I would be willing to give Carluccio's as a whole another chance in future, but will be trying different dishes the next time around.

As soon as we entered Carluccio's we were instantly greeted by our server. Throughout our 3 course meal we were constantly looked after which was amazing. I ordered the ricotta ravioli which was okay, not amazing. My wife ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto which was out of this planet. This authentic Italian caffé has been a favourite of mine ever since it opened a few years ago…read more Still true to the ethos of owners Antonio and Priscilla Carluccio, it runs smoothly and is a pleaser - for me - on several levels. It's in a great setting, just by the scenic river Thames; in decent weather you can sit outside and take advantage of this. Whether you just fancy a coffee, only a drink or a light one-course meal, you'll still be welcome. The service is good and friendly and in the rare event that there is a problem - like a corked glass of wine - (as happened to me on one occasion) it will be readily changed, without a fuss. When you want some take-out food you'll find many of the menu highlights available at the deli. For a gift or personal treat there are true tastes of Italy, appealingly packaged, in the shop.
