A lot of classics, the chef/owner is a German who worked in Rome for a while. The staff is great, friendly and laid back, but very professional. The arugula Salad was large and had a fresh, light, citrus dressing, the antipasti plate was delicious. one of us had a swordfish carpaccio and one of us tried an interesting risotto with cabbage. The Arabbiata was perfectly spicy. Certainly everything was a cut above the usual Italian place in Munich. We didn't try desserts, but had some great wines at very reasonable prices. We have been in once or twice for a drink at their bar and are looking forward to the Terrace in spring. There is also a short take out menu we've used sometimes later in the evening. Definitely recommend this place

It felt like a neighborhood favorite and not a tourist place. My husband had the most delicious Bavarian Pork Roast with dark beer jus. This came with balsamic lentils that mixed with the beer sauce. We will try to make this at home. I had their Corn-Fed Chicken Suprême served on a sautéed chanterelle cream ragout with fregola sarda, chickpeas and wild broccoli. Truly superb.

An ideal place for families or big groups. The food there is alright, nothing spectacular. Their colorful Pizza Verdura (veggie pizza with eggplant, zucchini and peppers) was a highlight. The Vongole (clams) with tomato sauces and herbs served with garlic bread was offered as a special of the week when we went there recently. As tasty as the clams were, I felt like it would be better served with spaghetti instead of bread. The Italian classics panna cotta and tiramisu along with some homemade cakes and tarts are some of the options for dessert. We tried the mango cheesecake, which was surprisingly light but slightly stale especially with the mango sauce. The prices are on the higher end but not unreasonable. Unfortunately for us, we had not-so-good services at La Sophia. One time we had a waiter on the first day on the job (slow albeit friendly), and another time, we had a waiter who was blasé. We asked some questions, and the waiter gave us very short responses that really didn't help us. Overall, a nice location for families with decent food but mixed service. FYI Yelpers, a mobile check-in gets you a free espresso, but be prepared to explain what Yelp is to the staff (we had to do that both times when we were there).
