Upon arrival we were told that the men needed to be wearing jackets. I wish that our hotel had told us because my husband had packed one, but luckily the restaurant keeps spare jackets on site for just this situation. The large dining room is incredibly old school with beautiful brass dining chairs laden in blue and yellow striped fabric. When they brought out the wine list I thought it was a joke because it was the size of a dictionary! For dinner I had the beet tartare and the veal filet. The soy marinated tofu was a little bit of an odd flavor combined the beet dish but besides that it was quite good. My husband started with the gnocchi and it may have been the best dish of the night, it was dynamite. In my opinion, my veal filet was better than my husbands beef filet and I also really enjoyed the petite eggplant parmigiana that came with it. Soufflé and ice creams for dessert were a big hit, but I was especially pleased because I asked if they had some dark chocolates off menu and they brought me out a beautiful assortment that tasted as good as they looked. Great restaurant if you are looking for an elegant evening out on the town or an excuse to use the dinner jacket that you packed but thought you wouldn't need.

Exit boat ramp and turn LEFT. But not a big deal, vacation should be a time to unplug anyway -Just a suggestion here, but a shuttle service from the port would be a nice touch; as the walk with suitcases is a bit challenging. One particular example of their commitment to guests took place on a not exactly pool weather day. I had decided to take advantage of some sun by the pool as did another couple and I noticed the owner quickly, placing cushions on all the chairs making it look more inviting. Nice touch. Now this may happen at other hotels but it was really something to see the owner himself carrying out the task. Overall, VERY pleasant stay. It was so nice to take a break away from our normal habit of staying in the chain hotels (SPGs mainly) and stay somewhere where the owners have full investment in the property. They have worked very hard and are proud to have taken this property to its current 3-Star rating. I can see more stars in their future. Tremezzo, is a great central location on Lake Como and I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Villa Marie if you are choosing this town.

I went with my girlfriend and another friend that decided to come at the last minute. The staff, was incredibly accommodating and gave us a suite that could take in all of us. As a bonus the suite had an amazing balcony overlooking lake Como which literally stopped me in my tracks every time I walked past it. The only down side was that the price for everything extra was commensurate with the initial price of the hotel. All in all though, an amazing place and would absolutely recommend it to friends and family.

The room itself was beautiful, with era appropriate design. The balcony was excellent, comfortable and quite large. There were two outdoor lounge chairs, and a table with two chairs. With all of that, there was still enough room left on the balcony for my morning workout. The grounds are beautiful. And the hotel continues its use of greenery on the balconies to separate areas for each suite. All done tastefully and the plants are all in very good condition. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. An assortment of croissants, made to order omelets, cereal, yoghurts, fruit, excellent cheeses, meats . . . It goes on and on. The staff were quite lovely and extremely helpful. In truth, I was prepared for a bit of pushback when my wife and I showed up - we are gay. Not even a blink of an eye from anyone. Unfortunately, these days that is a welcome relief. And the spa - out of this world! Massages, lovely jacuzzi/hot tub, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and more. If you are a guest the hotel there is a small fee for the use of the spa. The pool is lovely. It sits right next to lake Como. Jumping in was easy, if you have the stamina for cold water. There is a small cafe at the pool with food and drinks. The staff brings your order out to wherever you are sitting. The village of Maltrasio is filled with beauty and lovely people. The hotel is on the shore and the village goes up the hill.
