After finally landing and making it to our Airbnb, my husband and I took an Uber ride to this…read moreCostco, as it was the closet location to where we were staying. Surprisingly this Costco has late hours on Saturdays and closes at 9 pm, while Costco stores back at home close at 7 pm on Saturdays. Because we were starving by the time we arrived (our plane arrived later than expected and it was so much trouble trying to just get through customs... delaying more and more time), we decided to grab something from the food court. We ended up ordering: Calzone Combo, $101.26 MXN or $5.87 USD- This calzone automatically came with a cup for a beverage that you can fill up on your own. There was no option to order a calzone by itself. This calzone was huge and it was tasty. There was cheese, sausage and pepperoni and it was pretty well filled. But this calzone was oily (and is expected to be). I only ate about half of it and was full. My husband ate the rest and also enjoyed it. Costco Hot Dog, $35.79 MXN or $2.07 USD- My husband liked his hot dog, it tastes like the one back home. What is unique to Costco Mexico is that both a jalapeno and onion machine is available so you can put that on your hot dog. But for some reason after the pandemic, the Costco food courts back home never replaced that onion machine. But you can request for onions and they will put a small side of it in one of those little plastic cups for you. But you can't crank them out from the machine like you can here in Mexico. There is also a ketchup dispenser, along with mayonnaise. Beverage cup- Both of our items came with a beverage cup. Although you do see your classic fare of sodas (Coke, Sprite, Water, etc) there was also a few Mexico sodas as well. ---------------------------- (Total- $137.05 MXN or 7.94 USD) For some reason there is an additional membership discount, in which we ended up paying $134 MXN or $ 7.76 USD. We also saw on the price cards in the Costco store with 2 prices, one as the regular price and one with the membership discount. But typically you can only shop at Costco with a membership (although you can also shop at Costco in the US with a Costco gift card without a membership... and perhaps the same rule is extended internationally? And maybe that's why there is a discount?). There was an al pastor torta on the menu but did not order it because a friend of mine told me that it was absolutely terrible, so we stayed away from that (I also saw that other people online had mentioned that it was horrible too, which is a shame). Although the Costco hot dog is a little more expensive than back home (currently $1.66 after tax at our local Costco), the calzone was a little cheaper than the one at our local Costco (which would have cost $7.74 after tax). Anyways, there are similar items that you can purchase at the Costco back in the States but there are lot of baked goods, cakes, desserts, cookies, etc that are unique to Mexico that you can purchase. Funny thing is that with the produce, most of the items we saw cost more than back home and also were products of the USA. I was surprised not to see any product of Mexico because I have purchased fruit from my local Costco back home and they were from Mexico... really odd. In the store itself, we ended up purchasing salmon to take back to our Airbnb to cook to have a few meals so that we don't dine out every day (I know we are on vacation, but I also like to eat clean and healthy and so I will usually cook a few meals when I am on vacation). We also purchased some apples and strawberries (all cost more than back home and again, funny that they were both products of USA). We purchased water bottles too so that we can have clean water to drink during our trip. I also purchased a light weight jacket but was surprised that the price seemed kind of expensive for Costco. When checking out, it was interesting to see the line for the registers are behind the cashier instead of in front of them. Also there were no self check out areas, I guess that is just unique to back home. Overall, our visit was okay. Didn't feel that it was really special but glad we came here anyway.
